I just want to mention that hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid and lye can all be purchased at a local hardware store or farm supply store.

He could have been stockpiling for years. Either one of those three would make evidence completely disappear as it can easily be disposed.

Because DG never expected to be caught, he may not have gone to extravagant disposal measures. It's too bad LE didn't follow him for awhile, as he possibly could have returned to the bodies. imo

Maybe that is where he was headed that night he was arrested.

$41,000 has been raised so far for the family!

I had always wondered if he took the money from the estate sale. Perhaps he stashed it somewhere and he was going to pick it up and disappear again. How did he get there? Does anyone know?

Back in the beginning threads here we had linked & viewed that raw aerial footage ...then it was cut down to 2 minutes for the news ....but the original raw video was in their archives....the references are wayyyyyy back in these threads but here is the original 5:53 from Global:
http://globalnews.ca/video/1434629/raw-video-police-search-rural-property-north-of-calgary/

Ok so did we all see the incinerator? I think everyone should take a few minutes to watch this footage. So many things to note that potentially open new avenues of thought!

Wow just re watched and now I have many questions!...The first of which being:

Between 2:45-3:15 in video -
Three forensic officers walk to a series of sheds and something square with an open door (I have no idea what that is, but some thoughts... Garbage compactor being one ) and two walk up to a circular, dark area in the soil (near unnamed machine), while the other forensic officer stays back and observes a strange object (I though it looked strange), laying on the ground, between the two sheds.

I found it interesting that one forensic officer seemed to squat down and actually touch the dark are in the soil and then both officer got up and one joined the other officer(observing "thing" between the sheds)... While the other officer walks out into the field alone...

What did they see? And did the one officer who walked into the field alone see something that made him walk into the un-mowed grass, or did he need a break to "catch himself" after what they had just found?!?

Right! That's exactly what got me going. As the camera is zooming in on that hut, you can see what looks like a propane tank behind it. It also has a little ventilator on the roof. Does anyone know what this hut/shed is?

I don't believe the forensic officer found anything when he touched the dark spot in the video.

If he had, wouldn't the third officer have come to take a look? Instead, one walks away into the field and the other walks over to a third officer to help him continue searching.

Honestly, I don't think they will find much. DG had too many days jump start, PLUS the use of chemicals to wash his problems away.

Now that the LE have released the farm back to owners what and/or where will LE be looking now? I thought I read that LE have a 30 day plan in place to keep manpower on the case to look. I was hoping that the family would have answers and closure for a funeral via the search on the farm but now that search area is finished I wonder if the family ever will. Very very sad.

Do you see the one investigator go around to the back if that hut...... Possibly they still had to connect some dots at that stage. This was day one of the search. I sense that area there is key.

Starting at 00:50, this report says he stayed at a Motel 6 but doesn't say Airdrie. Many other reports stated he was staying in an Airdrie motel that night. It is my opinion that this is the one in Airdrie.

This is only a few miles from the Garland acreage so it is possible he walked from the motel. I am not sure why the report states that it is a 20 minute drive from the property, it would only be about 5 minutes.

Smokehouse, perhaps?

I truly hope the parents of DG are helping LE.

Why would LE have arrested DG at that point rather then wait to see where he went on his midnight stroll....????

Maybe they did actually watch where he went, then arrested him. We might just not be privy to that knowledge so that LE can protect the investigation.

Life on Range Road 291 changed forever at 1:30 a.m. on July 14. The quiet street was awash with flashing lights that night as neighbours said Mr. Garland crossed two open fields and was arrested on the porch of the home behind his family’s property.

He was going back for something.

I remember during his bail hearing when he said he often worked past 9pm...so strange to say that.

The 30 days seems to have significance on two fronts:

"In a news release put out Thursday afternoon, the Calgary Police Service says while they are grateful for the overwhelming community support of the investigation, they currently have a 30-day search plan in effect which cannot be shared outside of law enforcement."

"Crown prosecutor Shane Parker says it normally takes 30 days for disclosure in a major crime — especially one that involved a homicide and missing persons investigation."

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...ay-civilian-search-teams-not-needed-1.2708571

If I had to guess, I think that the 30 days has more to do with disclosure than searching.
