Found Deceased Canada - Andrew Fitzgerald, 19, Owen Sound, Ont, 13 Aug 2016

Ground and air searches continued today for a 19-year-old soldier from Cape Breton who went missing in Ontario last weekend.

The Owen Sound Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police and Canadian Armed Forces are searching for Pte. Andrew Fitzgerald, who was last seen around 4:30 a.m. ET Saturday at a Petro-Canada gas station in Owen Sound.

Fitzgerald enlisted in the army in January and graduated Friday from a basic trade qualification course known as Development Period One Infantry, a Department of National Defence spokesman confirmed Tuesday.

According to news article about news conference this morning:

Lt.-Col. Christian Lillington, commanding officer of 4th Canadian Division Training Centre in Meaford, attended the news conference and also offered condolences to the Fitzgerald family.

"​We are deeply saddened by the death of Pte. Andrew Fitzgerald," he said.
