Ha! big dogs on the bed weigh a ton and they take it over pushing you out if necessary.
I believe AG might have been arthritic and dogs on the bed would have been uncomfortable. I guess she felt safe enough. So the perp must have known she locked them up,question is how, by knowing her or spying.

Also, if they were her guardians, they could have slept on the floor in her bedroom.

I can't imagine, given the fact that AG was elderly and living alone in a somewhat secluded area, that her dogs were not by her side in that home, especially while she slept.

This does not make sense, especially knowing that AG once said she would probably be raped and murdered one day.

Speaking of dogs, it would be interesting to know who and how many people presented to medical facilities in the Hamilton area with dog bites between Christmas and New Years 2010.

Did a visiting friend of AG's lose it when they were possibly bitten by one of her dogs??

Pure speculation while trying to think of motive!

True. Many folks lock them up to keep them off the bed...especially married folks/couples :)

Well, if it's spying riff raff that was unknown to her, she might have been overheard at the place where she probably talked most in public: the place where her coffee group met.

Boxing Day 2010 -- wondering who attended the supper at LV's that day.

Is LV married, grown children, grandchildren, etc., and did other friends attend the supper that day?

Did AG converse with all the parties in attendance that day?

What time did AG leave LV's on Boxing Day and did she go straight home or make other stops first? Perhaps, this is where the perp first saw AG in her white Camaro.

Also wondering about that soup -- what kind of soup was it and was it found in some sort of container in AG's fridge, as surely it was not just one bowl of soup. When someone isn't feeling well and being brought soup, it is usually a small pot of soup to get them through a few days.

If the soup was homemade -- when was it made. Was it frozen and thawed homemade? If it was made the morning of the 27th, that is very energetic on LV's part, as post holidays is a tiring time.

What time was the soup dropped off to AG?

Still wondering why one wouldn't do a second check on a friend under the weather, even to see if the soup made AG feel a little better.

So many questions!!! The smallest piece of information could give us clues!!

IMO

According to an online obit, LV's mom passed away in July 2010. The wording seems to indicate that LV is not married.

Rose, you are so right about the "not" checking. If your friend was ill enough that you took her soup on Monday, why had you not found it unusual that you hadn't heard from her since that time, and why would you not have called to check on her? If you called to check on her and there was no answer, would you not be concerned that your friend was more gravely ill than when you saw her last?

Oh, of course i don't mean "you" ;)

LV might have had family around on Boxing Day, based on the following blurb:

"Gleave left the club a few years ago but the pair remained friends, visiting once or twice a week. Gleave attended a lot of the Vanstone family gatherings, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter."

http://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2913418

I agree...weird not calling to follow up. But maybe she said she'd call Thursday or Friday. Or maybe she tried and just figured AG was busy. If AG didn't seem all that bad on the 27th, LV probably wouldn't worry too much if she called and AG didn't answer.
Based on the fact that she was hardly ever in AG's house, it doesn't seem like a completely typical friendship, so who knows.

Rose, this site for obit at Hill and Robinson might help you.
LV/either never married or returned to her maiden name with 2 brothers.
Also, you bring up excellent points on the soup etc. I just re-read a CHCH article in which it was stated AG visited LV every sunday.

Thanks Lily -- how sad for Lynne. She lost her Mom and her very dear friend just months apart. I do find one thing a little odd though in that there is no condolence to Lynne from AG on this website, however, she may have sent a card in the mail.

As private as Audrey was online, I am not surprised. She probably did send a card.

If LV never married, maybe it was for a reason. (Perhaps one whereby someone might will you all of their possessions?)

Also, I'm sure this has been said b4, but I find it very hard to believe that she was only in AG's home once or twice in all of those years. For example, when she brought the soup did they stand in the cold garage or sit on the bench in the cold...while AG had a cold?

Like with PK's word on things, we really only have her word on that.

I'm going to try and put forth a reasonable explanation why LV might have only been in AGs home a handful of times over the years.
-It sounds like LV did the "entertaining"/family dinners for X-mas, Sundays, to which AG was invited.
-LV I assume still golfs, therefore every summer, she is very busy everday with a social network at the G&CC. Up until 10 yrs ago AG was also part of that network so they would already see each other several times a week there. Which would include drinks and food.
-I know LV had invited a group of golfing buddies and AG feigned illness not to attend.
-AG lives out of the way, therefore, there is NO reason to go to her home other than to see her. Living in the same circumstance myself, honestly most of my friends think I'm too far out of the city and unless I plan a luncheon and do the inviting most of the time we meet at a friends house who is more central in the city. If I do get visitors they are always invited or planned because no one wants to drive way out here for nobody to be home. Most of my company is in the summer to enjoy the peace and quiet yaddayada. Also, it's my experience that ladies of a certain age don't like driving at night!
- I also believe LV does some travelling.
-Therefore, I think LV is/was just busier than AG.
-AG would have more opportunity to come into the city to get groceries, DRs, errands etc. Although it sounds like she went maybe to Hamilton more than Brantford ie: the coffee group Hamilton and Costco Ancaster.

I agree completely, Lily. In my group of friends, most of us have given up with entertaining at home (because we're very busy people and also some of my group have become ill). So, we've chosen a centrally located restaurant which is easy for all of us to get to and it saves us the time and trouble of preparing the food, etc. to say nothing of the clean-up the next day!

And it's a tad 'difficult' to accept an invitation to someone's home because then you feel as though you're obliged to return the favour. Even if no one expects that from a friend!

Just out of curiosity, who is the gentleman with LV when she was interviewed while cleaning out AG's home. The man seems the correct age to be her husband, but could also be a brother or close friend.

Hi Woodland, could you please tell me where I can view this.

Thank you ;-)

There is also that pic of AG sitting on a couch opening a Christmas gift (or reading a card). I've wondered who the man sitting beside her is.

Will look for the video I referred to, it's on this forum somewhere - it's January, more snow on the ground than when AG was found, appears to be after the funeral and LV is shown outside AG's garage with a large bin in the background and a man about the same age as LV is helping dispose of items from the home.

LV speaks to a reporter about AG.

Just wanted to repost this bit concerning the dogs.
http://www.thespec.com/news/local/article/617241--if-audrey-gleave-s-dogs-could-speak
When she was at home, 73-year old Gleave rarely spent time away from her dogs. They were companions and protectors. But for one moment last December, they were out of reach when she needed them most.

Her friend and handyman, Phil Kinsman, told police he found Audrey’s body in the garage of her rural home on Indian Trail near Ancaster. She had been murdered and sexually assaulted.

When she was killed, likely in her garage, Togi, a big eight-year old male shepherd, and Schatze, a lean, four-year old female, had been unable to help. They were in the house, perhaps locked in their familiar cages.

I think the key phrase is the one I've underlined!:twocents:

Having trouble finding the video - a search brings up a CHCH article date 4 January 2011 titled 'Friend occupying Gleave home' which is no longer available. While I suspect that was it, I have no way of knowing now. Sorry.

Quoting myself, again! Another phrase jumped out at me:

"likely in her garage". So, LE isn't certain where exactly AG was killed? Could it have been in the house? Were there signs of the attack in the garage? If yes, why didn't PK mention it to LE and to us? And to Jon Wells? :waitasec:
