Since this is your field of expertise Stone, would a sex offender like the ones you are describing in your link, be picky about the 'room' where to commit their despicable acts?

We don't know for sure where in AG's house the attack took place, but we are lead to believe that the perp(s) never entered her house, and that the attack and murder took place in the garage, so my question is:

Would a cold garage (assuming AG's was not insulated) be a place of choice for the perp(s)? :waitasec: Or perhaps it happened inside the Camaro? I guess we have so far not thought of this possibility. Were the Camaro's doors found unlocked? DNA inside Camaro? Was the car key found inside the Camaro or inside AG's purse, or hanging somewhere in the house, or on a table, countertop?

My guess is at this point in time, LE must have a pretty good idea of how things went, and they would have an idea if her murder was 'sexually motivated" or not.. at least I hope they do!

Well, working with young offenders is my area of expertise.

That said, I've had offenders who:

- committed rape in the basement of a school - twice, same day

- stabbed others in the classroom

- belong to gangs

- witnessed their mothers being killed by their fathers

- various shootings, many fatal

The list is (unfortunately) endless.

In my experience a crime can be committed anywhere once the offender has decided that the crime will be committed.

Mostly, these offenders are crafty, cunning, manipulative, some are drug addicted but not always, liars, on and on. Oh, and many/most are recitivists (they go on to repeat the crimes).

Oh dear, so sorry for such a depresssing post! :blushing:

And I must say that CAMH and the Syl Apps place does their best with these young people.

Please note - this is my response to Hazel's query!

-----------

ETA: Please note: Any violent "sex act" is NOT an "act of sex". It's an act of hatred and violence toward the woman/man/child involved.

Yes it can be hatred and violence with a sexual component aimed at any woman[or others]
who is vunerable and alone. Prostitutes are always fair game. I wonder, a bit morbid I am afraid whether AG was sexually assaulted before or after being beaten and stabbed.

In my line of work as well as my husband, we HAVE to contribute to the company pension plan and the employer matches the contribution to whatever % is their going rate. The employer invests the money and when you think you have enough in your pension contributions you retire. Therefore, those invested funds provide your retirment benefit.

Am I to understand from the above posts that a teacher doesn't have to pay into their own pension? That based on education degree, years, their "level" is what determins their retirment benefit paid out by the board?

I don't mean to seem dense here. Is part of my tax money providing for teachers pensions? :banghead: no offense intended

Oh NOOOOOOO, that's NOT what I meant. Teachers ALL pay into their pension plans (about 11% of their salary) while they are still teaching!!

Fear not, teachers are not getting an 'easy ride' from Ontario's tax payers!! Teachers lose about 11% per pay cheque to place it into their retirement savings plan!!

When I was talking about the levels of pay structure, all I was doing was trying to point out that AG would have been at the highest pay level + yearly money for her MA degree.

Did that help any??:peace:

I've been wondering that as well. I've had experience with sexual offenders who have done both, so...........:dunno:

I'd guess that LE would know by the amount of blood that was coming out of AG's brutally stabbed body in order to determine that.:furious:

So is there much of difference in the profile of a sexual sadist vs a serial killer? I'm guessing a sexual sadist can be a serial killer, but then not always.

I suppose someone can be a sexual sadist without being a killer. I do not know what tips one over to become a killer. It's a choice of course but it must take time to build up, lots of anger for some reason.

I keep coming back to what changed at that particular point in time in AG's life, or in the lives of those around her, to bring A to that hideous end? Thirty years at the same house, doing the same things and coming to no harm, and yet boom - suddenly lightning strikes over the Christmas holidays..

I don't agree that Audrey knew her killer. Until this is really solved, the unknown can't be known. I think it was someone who lived or stayed around that area. Audry maybe knew him by sight but I don't really think that it was someone close to her inner circle.

Well, from a psychological point of view, the Xmas season (from the American Thanksgiving to New Years) is a really rough patch for some people. More drinking, more other drugs, more loneliness, more darkness in Ontario, more pressure, a need for more money, more of everything associated with "need".

To dotr's question - AG MIGHT have been a target for many years but in 2010 the killer just 'had to do it', so to speak.

If LE and psychiatrists could truly figure this out, our world would be safer.:twocents:

There is a difference - not all sadists go on to becoming serial killers. That said, serial killers OFTEN begin with some sort of cruelty - killing small animals when they are about 5 years old, setting fires at a very young age. There are OFTEN signs of a serial killer when he is aged 5-10. In school as well!:twocents:

Does anyone know (or can someone find out) if there was a FULL MOON when AG was killed? It's a known fact that during a full moon the schools are chaotic and psychiatric institutions are also chaotic.

:tyou:

Oh, and the full moon might have been approaching when SL was attacked!

I was under the impression that a "sexual sadist" is quite different from a regular sadist, but couldn't really find a profile for such a person. I found two types of sexual sadists: one being someone that enjoys lighter activities like whips and chains during consensual sex, and the other who takes it to extremes, and sometimes loses it and kills.

I think it might be even more difficult to determine who a sexual sadist might be, as they may display fewer outward signs than the ones serial killers are often associated with.

Looks like the moon was full December 21st. It was a good thought though.

I agree. But tend to include "knew to see" in my definition of "knew her killer": ie: she knew her killer to some degree.

Even knowing someone to see can be enough to make you let your guard down. For example, if you see someone everyday at Tim Hortons but never talk, you'll still probably feel more of a connection to them than to someone you've never seen before.

I often think, maybe a neighbor that's newer to the area.
