Hi everyone, I have read this thread with great interest and it took me a while to read everything you've all posted. Great work!
One thing that sets off my hinkymeter is that Audrey had e-mailed her neighbor that she did not feel safe outside her home at night without her dogs. I wonder what sparked that feeling? Did she observe something from inside the house, or was she outside at some point before her murder and had to hurry inside to escape danger? I would think that if she observed someone she knew on her property (PK, the neighbours, their son etc...), she would not have felt scared in the least and would instead have demanded at once to know what they thought they were doing.
As for the Camaro, Audrey's car would have been one of the first on Canadian roads as the car only went into production a short while before GM got into financial trouble. So it would have certainly grabbed people's attention. They were quite diffcult to find initially (here in BC at least) as the supply was so limited. The car is more common now - I drive a 2010 Camaro SS and it still attracts attention. So perhaps someone was after the car? Maybe something scared them away so that is why it was not taken. But if they were prepared to brutally murder Audrey to get at the Camaro, couldn't an intruding neighbour have been dealt with in the same way? And how would the thief know that the dogs were not on the loose?
I find it interesting that Audrey dropped a highly promising career in physics to become a teacher and by that I mean no disrespect to teachers. Is it possible that she saw or found out about something at Chalk River that she shouldn't have? Did she maintain contact with anyone who worked there?
The other thing that I find quite strange are the mailboxes or letter boxes being smashed-up.
Was there someone from Audrey's past that thought she could be a potential threat - as in revealing potentially personally damaging information?
Lastly, some of you have stated that her anscestors came from the Baltics. I'm sure that is true, but MOO but her maiden name sounds like it originates in Eastern Ukraine rather than the Baltic states. But I could be wrong there. FWIW I spelled it as it woud be written in Russian Cyrillic and googled it - the name does occur in the Russian language and is spelled Довейко. This may be a trivial point though. I would not find it hard to beleive at all that Audrey's father was a naturalised Ukrainian, Byelorussian or Russian who left the Baltics in the 1930s, but I am wandering off topic.
The thing that bugs me the most about this is that Audrey was such an accomplished and talented woman, who worked hard for what she had and should have been able to enjoy a long and healthy retirement with her dogs, Camaro and beautiful home. Sadly, this was brutally taken away from her. I'd lilke to know who did that and see them punished to the full extent of the law.
MOO:moo:
