Barry and Honey Sherman: The first 48 hours are crucial in a homicide. The police acted like they were in no rush
''A. D.’s job was to watch all the monitors in the control room and look for anything odd or unusual.''

''D had been helpful several years earlier in capturing the “fruit thief,” an Apotex employee from the pill production line who had briefly dated the Shermans’ youngest daughter and, after they broke up, was believed to have been stealing sandwiches and fruit from the executive suite refrigerator. It seemed the man had become used to using the refrigerator when he was close to the family. He was caught on a security camera and was fired.''

''[That first weekend after the deaths] D noticed people he had never seen before in the parking lot around the Apotex headquarters. They were men, some scruffy-looking, in teams of two, sometimes leaning on a car in the parking lot. Whenever a senior executive left the building, the men would get in their car and follow.

The men were part of a large security team employed by an Israeli company recommended by Bank Hapoalim, the Israeli bank Apotex used. With the Shermans dead, the four trustees Barry Sherman had left in charge of his estate decided that there was a risk of violence and had hired a team of men who at one time had guarded Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

They were not armed but had experience in self-defence and martial arts and used a sophisticated communication system to keep in touch. Beginning that weekend, the four heirs — Lauren, Jonathon, Alex and Kaelen — and others, including trustees and senior Apotex executives, had an application called Octopus installed on their phones. If any of them needed help, they only had to touch the app, which would alert a quick-response team, in addition to the bodyguards assigned to them.''

Since the $10,000,000.00 reward is still available, I wonder if Black Cube or a similar company, with similar resources and expertise, would get involved. I am sure that the money available would certainly be appealing.

It certainly would be a feather in the cap of any group, organization or individual, in the security or similar field, could solve the case, or even identify the night walker.
Now that’s a thought, one would like to think there was at least one immediate member of the family, who would leave no stone unturned to find their parents killer.
To be honest none seem terribly bothered.

You’re probably remembering this -

“Jonathon Sherman has hired retired Toronto police inspector Doug Grady to uncover who was responsible for killing his parents, billionaire philanthropists Honey and Barry Sherman, CBC News has learned…..

……As the Toronto Star first reported last month, Sherman also turned to an international legal and investigations firm called Confidential Global Investigations.

The company, based in New York City, has partner offices in England, Israel, China, Dubai and South Africa.

Sources told CBC News that Confidential Global Investigations is providing legal support and a review of the evidence gathered by the initial private investigation, which includes the results of the private autopsies done on the Shermans' bodies, a forensic crime scene analysis and interviews with potential witnesses.

The sources say little new information has been uncovered by the U.S. firm and Grady — at least nothing that Toronto police haven't already found themselves….”

That's the one, thank you!

In 2007 the lawsuits started between the the cousins and Barry. In Donovan’s book he said in the late 1980s/ early 1990s Barry started funding Kerry and his brothers, and Kerry said for him that went on for ‘15 years’ (per the Fifth Estate interview).

(1990–2005 for the sake of argument). A year prior to filing the lawsuit Kerry and his children went to the Apotex Christmas party (so, December, 2006?) per KD’s book. They’re on good terms at that point.

Then Kerry was invited to the Sherman home to discuss (a kitchen renovation, according to a witness) and was confronted mainly by Honey about where the money was going.

(At around the 15:00 minute mark.)

That confrontation would have happened in 2006, imo. The Shermans had lived at Old Colony since 1991–so this happened at Old Colony unless they still owned the Beaverhall home.

I looked for more information and a Sherman family friend also believes you were in the home around that time.

“Homicide detectives likely asked him if he has ever been inside the 12,000-square-foot mansion where Honey and Barry Sherman were found slain. A friend of the Shermans said he will tell police that Winter was asked by Barry to go to the house more than a dozen years ago to look at the kitchen, which he was hoping to renovate.

Winter says this is not true. “I have never stepped foot inside of 50 Old Colony Road,” he insists.”

Lexi, it could be semantics on the part of KW. Perhaps he went to the front door, but never got inside the house as HS met him at the door?

No, he has said it on tape to JW, and wrote the same thing here: he said he never set foot in 50 Old Colony.

How is Black Cube an “extension” of the security arrangements described in @dotr’s post?

It's an extension of the Israeli bank used by Apotex recommending a security company, and what that might mean.

So, Black Cube is a part of the Israeli bank?

He said in Thread #8 he was never even invited there. So either he is misremembering, he invited himself to Old Colony but didn't go inside and argued with HS outside (semantics), or this argument with HS took place at the Beaverhall home between 1988 and 1991, at least 16 years prior to the lawsuit.

From today’s Toronto Star- police documents filed with the court refer to “bloodstains on the victims” . Note the word victims, and not victim. I am surmising there were also bloodstains on BS also.

Sherman murder detectives get hits from cellular tower ‘dumps’ — sending probe overseas
Jan 4 2021
''The Toronto Star has won court-approved access to police investigative documents in the now four-year-old unsolved Barry and Honey Sherman murder case, and the documents are being released in chronologic order, not all at once. Last week, we reported that in 2019, homicide detectives had compiled a list of cellular telephone numbers of “persons of interest” in the case, and were seeking court permission to get a tower “dump” of all cellular communication around Barry and Honey the night they died, hoping to find a match with a stalker. In today’s instalment, the Star reveals what police learned in 2020, and where the investigation was headed.

By September 2020, Toronto police probing the murders of the two billionaires were using terms like “walking man” and “killer” in their investigative notes, describing a belief that an unknown “male” with an unusual gait was their prime suspect.

As detailed in the search warrant and production order requests police made to obtain cellular telephone tracking data, detectives now had a “working theory.”

“The theory being that investigators believe that both Bernard and Honey Sherman were murdered and that the perpetrator, believed to be a male, hereinafter referred to as the ‘walking man’ that is seen on video surveillance” was their prime suspect, a detective wrote in a request to the court for permission to conduct additional analysis of cellular communication data.''

Are Kevin Donavan (Toronto Star) and Joe Warmington (Toronto Sun) the main reporting journalists on this case? Has LE released enough information to the public about this case in the last four years?

I don't know, but I follow KD.

So, what country does everyone think LE has in mind as the place the NW A- came from and B- where he went to after the murders? rbbm.
Sherman murder detectives get hits from cellular tower ‘dumps’ — sending probe overseas
''From the Star’s ongoing investigation, including viewing more than 1,000 pages of documents that have been released, that police are theorizing that the walking man or someone he was communicating with was either outside of Canada at the time, or left Canada after the murders.''

''In these newly released documents, designated by police as ITOs #11 and #12 (an ITO is an “information to obtain” a search warrant or a production order), we get a clearer picture of the crime scene than in previous documents released. For the first time, the belts looped around the Sherman’s necks are identified as “black belts.”

''The documents also reveal for the first time a reference to “bloodstains on the victims,” an observation from a forensics detective that is not further explained. The Star, from its own investigation, has learned that the blood at the scene was relatively minor, most likely coming from Honey’s nose as a result of the “ligature compression” on her neck that killed her. Honey had a small mark on her right eye. Barry had no markings on his face and his eyeglasses were neatly perched on his nose. Both Shermans were wearing their shoes.''

From the most recent video, it looks like the walking suspect became camera shy once they noticed a camera/light over the garage.

''Almost impossible' to ID someone from this footage: Ex-detective breaks down Sherman suspect video
Dec 14, 2021''

This is a opinion of a retired detective. In fact, there are likely a hundred people in the world who know and can identify who this suspect, the walking man, is.
For example the walking man can likely be identified by his family, his friends, his employer(s), present and past co-workers, his medical caregivers, and some of his enemies.
I would suggest the phrase, 'almost impossible' be replaced in our minds with, 'difficult' or 'challenging'.

To me, he was speaking in terms of his own previous job, in that for him as an investigator, it may have proven difficult to pinpoint a specific person based on a not-so-great video.. but for someone who actually knows the 'suspect', as mentioned above, I think there would be a number of indications to enable identification, ie the gait, combined with perhaps the body-shape, combined with perhaps the clothing, combined with perhaps the 'alibi' of the person who is thought to be in the video, combined with perhaps a passport, and/or security footage possibly obtained from nearby airports, and then of course, combined with if they can do something with the cell activity. Once LE is onto something and think they have a theory, which they seem to have, they're going to be delving into the right places directly.
