Anti-Semitism 'becoming mainstream' in Canada: Jewish advocacy group
''Incidents of anti-Semitism were on the rise for a fifth straight year in Canada, despite an overall decline in the number of incidents worldwide, according to a Jewish advocacy group.

The analysis, which was conducted by Amanda Hohman and Aidan Fishman of B’Nai Brith Canada, suggests anti-Semitism “is becoming mainstream,” based on a number of highly public incidents that occurred in 2017''

''The United States also registered an increase in anti-Semitic incidents, according to an audit conducted by the American Anti-Defamation League and included in the Kantor report. The ADL says it observed a 57 per cent increase in anti-Semitic incidents in 2017 over the year before, making itthe largest single-year increase on record and the second highest number reported since ADL started tracking such data in 1979.” It adds that the number of physical assaults was down, but all other forms of anti-Semitism were up.''

Is MS somehow stating that the killing may have been an anti-Semitic motivated hate crime rather than a financially related crime?

Yes that’s what she’s saying may have been a possibility. I’m doubtful, the woman was obviously deeply affected by the murders and IMO it’s easier to blame a stranger than the fact they might’ve been killed by someone known to them. My question would be why would Honey be in the house with the realtor when it was being shown to viewers. That would be highly unusual IMO.

“The ITOs show that in her second interview with police, Honey Sherman’s sister, Mary Shechtman, suggested the person responsible for the murders was “making a statement” and that she believed the motive for the killings may have been motivated by religion.

"The Shermans were strong supporters of Israel and Honey was very vocal about being Jewish,” Shechtman said. “There were a lot of people of a certain ethnicity going through the house at a certain time and Honey would use phrases that were not politically correct."…”

Wasn't HS going to get some money from BS according to KD's book and some was promised to her sister MS? Thus, this was a big loss in many different ways for her. She lost her beloved sister and
any support that her sister provided and would provide in different ways.

This is the same MS who owns about 20 properties in Toronto, a multi million home in Toronto, and a condo in Florida, yet was interviewed in the weeks after the murders saying her husband was being forced to drive for Uber in Florida in order to pay the bills. Right…….

She is of course entitled to her opinion as to who “was responsible” for the murders (as she carefully phrased it- she leaves open the possibility that someone was responsible who was not the actual murderer). But she has no special insight or info regarding motives, and she is only speculating, as we all do, and I put absolutely zero stock inwhat she says.

"Certain ethnicity ''is mentioned by MS, but not the religion of the people "going through the house'' at a ''certain time''.
Who are these people, why were they going through the house, when was the ''certain time''?
Did BS' pal and cohorts ever film at the house?

What ''phrases'' did HS use, did she say them in front of 'the people' in her home, if so, might HS also be inclined to openly say something less than PC about homosexuality etc....?
all speculation, imo.

Re-post info about the 911 call:

“On the Thursday morning at 9:45 a.m., a full day before the Sherman bodies were discovered, homeowners down the road from the Shermans answered a knock on their door. The Star has agreed not to identify the homeowners or their exact address. They live roughly 10 houses away on Old Colony, near Bayview Ave. and Hwy. 401.

The man at the door was a uniformed police officer asking if someone in their home had made a 911 call. The homeowners said no. The officer shared few details, but said police believed it came from the homeowners’ house, but did not say if the call had come from a cellular phone or a landline. The officer did not say what time the call came in…

…The homeowners who had the visit from police checked with Bell and Rogers and were told there was no evidence of a glitch, crossed wires or a 911 call coming from their house.

…Numerous questions have sprung to the mind of the homeowners. Did the police have the wrong address when they came to knock on the homeowners’ door? Did the call come from a cellphone which then hung up and police were not able to get the exact location? Had the call come from 50 Old Colony Rd.?…

…Given the location of Old Colony Rd., a dead-end street on the east and accessed off Bayview (a main thoroughfare) from the west, it is likely that a police officer would have passed the car parked in front of the Sherman home that Thursday morning on the way to check out the 911 call.”

Barry and Honey Sherman’s neighbours cite mysterious 911 call, visitor on day before billionaires found dead | The Star

The last paragraph answers which part of the street the 911 call apparently came from if the police passed the Shermans’ home—and it’s close to the possible route the suspect took:

Blue is the google-suggested route of the suspect, the red highlighted part is the approximate area of the home where the police responded to the 911 call—my view only, based on what Donovan wrote.

Lexi, good stuff, thanks.
I have to believe that the TPS would know if the 911 call from a cell or a land line. When they were making this visit on Old Colony Rd, it was the day before the Sherman's bodies were discovered. Hard to say if there is a connection to the murders or one of the many 911 'pocket' dials the TPS gets weekly.

Please refresh my memory as to the name of the sculptor and whether the sculpture in the Sherman home came directly from the artist or through a gallery.

Also, couldn't "ethnicity" refer to people of the same religion as the Shermans, but from other countries?

ETA:

The art pieces were given to the Shermans by friends years ago and have been on display in the North York home since it was built in 1985, according to the Star.

Murdered billionaire couple posed like 'creepy' life-sized figurines found in home: report

The Shermans had a sculptor friend who ran a gallery.

Now here's the interesting part. Honey bought the property for the new house from a sculptor who owned an art gallery.

There is something about the home inspection certificate that bothers me. Reading online it says that BS got the certificate from his work office to bring home at the request of the real estate agent.
When the real estate agent visits the house on Friday, she finds the certificate on the floor of the basement and puts it up on a ledge. Wasn't the certificate meant for her to take if she requested it?

Not necessarily. I could be wrong but think what was found was more than a certificate, it was an inspection report. It’s not as if a home inspection simply passes or fails. I’ve never heard of an inspection certificate without a report to indicate what was inspected. Home owners often order an inspection in advance because the comprehensive report may reveal a lot of little things, some of the items included in an inspection report they may chose to have repaired. So there’s nothing to say the inspection report would be expected to be an “as is”, ready to hand over to a potential buyer.

I searched KD’s book for details.

The realtors didn’t request that he bring the document home.

The realtors arraigned the home inspection for Old Colony.

Barry brought the report to work to look through the deficiencies and was returning it home. With a home inspection you get a digital and paper copy, a few people likely had the report. This was a pre-sale inspection, so the realtors would be very familiar with the report in order to suggest improvements or defend the deficiencies to a potential buyer.

My opinion based on experience.

From KD’s book, (269 & 299 of my e-book):

ETA: if you have an article that states the realtor requested the home inspection report from Barry can you please link it?

Barry and Honey Sherman’s bodies were found posed like the sculptures in their basement | Toronto.com
DEC 12, 2019 BY KEVIN DONOVAN
''During the Friday morning real estate tour that led to the discovery of the bodies, Honey’s iPhone was found in a powder room that friends say she never used, at the front of the house. Sources close to the private investigation have speculated that Honey came home on Wednesday evening, entered through the side door as she normally did, was surprised by an attacker and ran to the powder room.

Also discovered during the real estate tour was a thick sheaf of papers — the home inspection report for 50 Old Colony Rd. — and Barry’s leather gloves. Those items were found immediately inside the door that led from the basement garage. Insiders have told the Star that Barry had the paper copy of the inspection report at his office, and had said he would bring it home. The inspection report was found on the tiled floor of the hallway, with Barry’s gloves on top of it. Not realizing they were in a crime scene, the realtor picked up the report and gloves and placed them on a knee-high ledge that ran along the hallway.

• Entering the vestibule outside the pool, with the clients and the other realtor in tow, the realtor made the grisly discovery. Of note, most of the basement lights were off when the realtors and clients had made their way downstairs. Also, the main lights were off in the pool room, although there was a glow in the room because the underwater lights of the pool were on''

Regarding the murders "making a statement" - whatever that statement was supposed to be, nobody has been able to figure out in five years. If it's a statement, it's very vague.

Regarding the 911 call - is it possible the call was from Honey but TPS have not released that info? That would make the most sense to me. They obviously would not know that day other than it being a cell phone, but after retrieving HS cell it would be obvious if she made the call. If she did make a 911 call - that's a timeframe. That's huge.

Regarding the home inspection papers. BS was carrying them loosely in his hands and not in a briefcase? Was that the only thing he had with him when he walked in that night? If so, seems like they were pretty important to what was going on.

I don’t think a realtor would necessarily conclude that a home inspection report found laying on the floor was intended to be taken by her.
If the report wasn't meant for her then who was it meant for? What if the report and gloves on the floor were a symbolic statement by the killer? Something like murdered (gloves) over home building litigation (home inspection report)? What if the killer chose this date due to the BS bringing this report home? Who really asked him to bring this report home?

Then who was the report for and when was it to be given to them?
