Given that this appears to be a professional hit with a behind the scenes team working together with an assassin, there must be deep pockets behind it. In order to grease the wheels more, the reward should go up to get better information to come forth from some holding back so far.

I don't know about others, but $10,000,000.00 reward got my attention.

I am sure the TPS have the footage, however if the killer came onto Sherman's property through the back yard, and entered the house that way, the security footage of the front of the house would not show it. I believe the camera recording was located across the street from the Sherman's.
Thus, the suspect was careful not to get on any cameras near the house by avoiding them but was unable to avoid getting on cameras farther away from the house as the NW video has shown.

It would be hard to believe he didn't go through the backyard and lower door then.

While Barry and Honey Sherman lay dead in the basement of their Toronto home, a lone man went in and out of their house three times, according to an account of security camera footage seized by Toronto police.
Between 9:11 a.m. and 10:16 a.m. on Dec. 14, 2017, the man walked from a four door sedan parked in front of the Sherman house on Old Colony Rd., appeared to enter the house through the front door, then came back outside.
He did this three times, for a total of 29 minutes inside the Sherman home, before driving off

December 14, 2017 was the Thursday.

This is the report regarding the man who came to the Sherman home on Thursday. He has been since identified as a fitness trainer. ...
I don't recall this 'mystery person' being identified as a fitness trainer? Link?

December 14, 2017 was the Thursday.

This is the report regarding the man who came to the Sherman home on Thursday. He has been since identified as a fitness trainer. We know Sheila Stanley, H's assistant was off, and there has been no mention of other staff working that day. It appears to me there was no Sherman staff in the house on Thursday to talk to the trainer or discover any dead bodies.

What is significant about this fact is it possibly points to the killer's knowledge of the Sherman household activities, either through surveillance and/or access to inside information.

Time of the bodies discovery could have been very important, for either reasons of alibi or a clean escape. To me having an extra 24 hours to get away before the police even knew about the crime would seem like a big advantage.

If the killers did not care when the bodies were discovered, they could more easily left them in plain site.

I have never heard that this person was identified by LE as a trainer. Can you please provide a link? Thanks

If they have this security footage, why don't they have footage of what happened the night before?

They likely do have such footage

Is there any footage, drone or otherwise, still on the net that gives a bird's eye view of the Sherman property prior to it being demolished?

They have it, but told Donovan that they didn’t look at it before handing it over to the police. bbm:

“The officer who showed up at the homeowners’ house on Sunday took a copy of the video from Wednesday to Friday, and returned later to get the Monday and Tuesday portions of the video. The Star does not know what is on the Wednesday video because the homeowners never thought to view it. In their minds, the day before the bodies were discovered was the relevant time period. But Wednesday is a key time because that is the night the Shermans came home separately from a meeting — Honey is believed to have arrived home around 7:30 p.m. and Barry around 9 p.m. His last email was from his desk computer at Apotex at 8:13 p.m. that night.”

29 minutes inside Barry and Honey Sherman’s home: Who was the visitor?

AFAIK the person has been investigated and cleared by the TPS, has not been publicly identified.
I do not know his identity nor his occupation.
What his occupation was purely speculation on my part. Since he has been cleared of any involvement his identity is irrelevant.
I made a mistake, I am sorry.

No problem. It’s hard to keep everything straight.
LE said they know who the person is, but AFAIK TPS hasn’t said that he has been cleared. But I may be mistaken, like I said there is a lot to remember

''Barry and Honey Sherman’s family has received approval to demolish the home where they were found dead.
''While Barry and Honey Sherman lay dead in the basement of their Toronto home, a man went in and out of their house three times, according to an account of security camera footage seized by Toronto police.''

A statement to the Star by homicide Insp. Hank Idsinga on Friday reveals that the police are now “reviewing video surveillance to determine any relevance to the investigation.” Police will not say which video surveillance they are reviewing. ''
''Brian Greenspan, a lawyer for the Sherman family, said his private investigators have a copy of the video footage from the house and it is “inconclusive” — they cannot determine who the man is, what kind of car it is or the man’s exact movements.

“We have always been interested in (the video footage),” Greenspan said.

“All I can tell you is what we see. When you try to improve on the very grainy security camera footage, it pixelates. We are sort of stuck with the grainy footage.”

''According to images in the security video, a man visited the Sherman house on Thursday morning, Dec. 14. The Star has not seen the video but has been provided with a detailed account, backed up by handwritten notes taken by a person who reviewed the tape.

''The Star has agreed not to identify the homeowner or their house, except to say it is on the Shermans’ street. Two CCTV cameras at the homeowner’s house were focused on their own property, but because of their positioning, they also picked up activity around the Sherman home.''

''At 9:11 a.m., a dark-coloured four-door sedan driving west on Old Colony Rd. stops and parks immediately in front of the Sherman house. It does not drive into the circular driveway. Three minutes after the car is parked, a man gets out and at 9:14 a.m. he walks to the Sherman house and enters through the front door. He remains in the house for 12 minutes.

At 9:26 a.m., the man emerges from the house, walks back to his car and gets in. He remains in the car for just under 11 minutes, then gets out of his car, walks back to the house and enters through the front door at 9:37 a.m. This time he remains in the house for eight minutes.

At 9:45 a.m., the man walks back to his car. This time he stays in his car for about 21 minutes, before walking back to the house and entering through the front door at 10:06 a.m. He remains in the house for nine minutes, then emerges, gets into his car and drives slowly west toward Bayview Ave. at 10:16 a.m.

The positioning of the two CCTV cameras that caught this activity does not show the licence plate and the images are blurry — you cannot make out the face of the man.''

I wish it were possible to get updated information that we know is accurate because I could’ve sworn that I read the police did talk with the person in the car and found him not to be a problem. I also remember reading earlier on that the police had a witness but the witness wouldn’t speak to the police. They used the word witness not suspect. So many loose ends it seems like.

I also recall reading that police know the identity of the mystery man and he’s not believed to be connected to the murders but I can’t find the source.

Chief Mark Saunders on Barry and Honey Sherman case: ‘Our officers did not drop the ball’ | The Star
2019
''Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders says his officers have interviewed the mystery man who spent 29 minutes inside the home of Barry and Honey Sherman while they lay dead in the basement.

“I can tell you we knew who the person was, why they were there, (the person) was interviewed,” Saunders said Tuesday in response to questions from reporters following a police board meeting. “It’s not in any way we dropped the ball, our officers did not drop the ball.”

Neither Saunders nor a spokesperson would identify the individual, or respond to questions about what the man did in the house, how he got through the locked front door, and whether or not he went into the basement or onto the second floor, or stayed on the main floor. The house was for sale at the time and there was a realtor lockbox on the front door.''

Saunders said TPS didn't drop the ball. He knows who the guy is, he knows why he was there, he was interviewed. But when you don't say that the guy was vetted and cleared---we will continue to talk about him, even though it might be a waste of our time. So is this guy considered important "hold-back" information, or is this merely a protocol of TPS to tell the public nothing?

Due to the short time period involved, it is unlikely that this person was the killer who was able to kill two people, drag them to the pool room and tie them up in such a short time.

The lawsuits were for faulty construction, not because he was frugal. No one has claimed Barry was opposed to the construction of the new dream home. Even if he had been, that’s an unlikely motive for someone murdering both him and his wife.

I don’t think BS was opposed to building a new home. I think he probably saw it as an opportunity to make some money. After all, how many people are able to successfully sue the designers and contractors of your previous home for roughly 90 percent of the cost (winning most via forced settlement)?

Kind of makes you wonder just how comprehensive that inspection list might’ve been for the upcoming 50 Old Colony sale.

Imo, litigation was a way of life for BS, both in business and in personal matters - which imo were still business matters (on the plains of the Serengeti, anyway). I think that’s how he acquired Empire. I think it’s how he built Apotex. I think it’s how he made his fortune. And I think it’s how he reduced the final outlay for the house on Old Colony. All just my opinion.

A 12/19/17 Star article states: “After litigation against the house’s designers and builders they wound up recouping 2 million of the contracted amount to construct the home” (which was 2.3 million). If there was poor design or shoddy workmanship, why didn’t the designers and builders just fix it, or build them a new house (like happens with everybody else). No, I suspect they (and/or their insurance companies) knew they weren’t going to be able to hold their breath as long as BS, so they settled. So it sounds like the end result was that BS paid 300k for a 2.3 million dollar home.

It almost sounds like a way of doing business - or even an approach to life.

I don’t think anybody would argue that civil suits were BS’s specialty. An army of highly skilled attorneys specializing in pharmaceutical law, patent law, taxes, and anything else that BS got involved with (including collateralized loans to relatives, business associates, friends and cousins). It appears to me that he was a lawsuit machine. In my opinion, in the event of a suit, only the deep pocketed could ever do anything but settle with BS. If you chose to ride it out, the damage was going to be already done - the market saturated and the cupboard bare by the time a long drawn-out court case was settled or resolved by the courts. Better to cut your losses and run. In poker it’s called folding.

In my opinion, BS’s real “ business” and his real “business skill” was litigation (some would say abuse of the courts). The pharmaceutical industry just happened to be tailor made (especially at that time, incl. with Empire) for BS’s tactics. Sometimes there were hundreds of millions of dollars at stake for winners and losers. Generic meds, corporate espionage, patent infringement, patent expirations (or not), product formula theft, cutting fabrication corners, flooding markets with generics before competitors could respond and/or courts could rule.. Imo, BS was better at it than anybody. Anybody.

KD’s book said: “Canadian courts are filled with hundreds of cases involving Apotex. The battles were lengthy, sometimes taking decades.”

[…]

In a case in which Sherman sued the US government, ‘The US court filings reveal that in 2009, FDA officials discovered that “Apotex had distributed products in the US market contaminated with hair, glue, plastic, nylon, metal, rust, snd acetate fibers.” And BS was suing THEM! Desai once said: “compliance is a journey”.

[…]

“If a case went against him, Sherman always appealed. He did not give up, no matter the odds.”

What I can’t believe (and I’ve said this before) is that there was still a designer and a builder left in Toronto who were willing to sign a contract to build the Sherman’s new house.

All jmo
