It is the love of money that is the route of all evil. Money can be used for positive.

I think the Sherman’s had a mix of both. Doing tremendous good and also having the privilege that goes with it that may not always be in the best interest of all

Yes "the love of $" But when a company as big as Apotex is and steps on other drug companies then things do get ugly. Or funding/lending money to someone who is already in trouble with others, it adds more complications or even hatred. JMO

Also speaking as a professionally trained and career journalist, not everyone associated with the police department, however tangentially, is referred to as a "police source." Technically or otherwise.

I think I understand your point though (I hope I do, anyway, please correct me if I'm wrong!) — being that you give less credence to off-the-record sources. Totally agree with you there.

If there's an "unnamed source" who wants to go on the record, at least two such sources are more reliable than one. It's especially important to corroborate off-the-record sources, and, rightfully, when that isn't done, readers can and should be more skeptical of the unnamed source's accuracy and motivation.

rbbm

Thank you .

I agree with everything you have said.

In this case, at this time, the police are unable to either confirm nor deny any of these "sources" at all.

Nothing is being leaked - at least "directly" from them.

All of the information or none of it or some of it may be the truth but we will not know for certain until there is an official statement.

My feeling is that because of this, it is causing problems concerning what to discuss on these threads.

As far as I have experienced on Websleuths, anything and everything mentioned in MSM may be discussed.

At first I was reticent towards discussing information from "sources" quoted in the MSM articles.

On Websleuths, as long as the information is contained within MSM it is fine to discuss.

I genuinely respect the wonderful folks on this thread who do not want to discuss any information given by "sources"

You are all wonderful and I greatly appreciate your insightful and greatly compassionate posts.

Teva Israel losing 14,000 jobs. Protests, strikes etc happening. Toronto Star Dec. 30th

Did anyone catch this story? Wonder if it has anything to do with BS as his CEO, Dr. Jeremy Desai had a love interest with one of their employees who was also implicated in Industrial Espionage not so long ago.

I think she was passing information to Apotex......fairly recently. Guess that could lead to motive??

WOW This and the builder he paid a second mortgage for and of course the cousins. So many ifs. Lots of investigating to go through. That PI has his work cut out for him and hopefully LE too!

Here in the states, my son bought a prescription at Walgreens that said Apotex on it and his pres. from last month said Teva.

Just jumping in to question if LE was able to get fingernail scrapping under either parties nails?

This sounds like a hired hit to me. It was too clean and precise.

It must have been two perps as one would have to hold Mr. B down as the other perp strangled Mrs. B. Amazing they had no bruises on either of them! This is what makes me think it was a hit.

Also, if this is gang related, high end Gangs, LE may be keeping any information close to the vest??

Hi! i am new here, interested because I live in Toronto as well. From what I can see there is tons of information based on "sources" and "media". I am wondering if all threads are like this, or if this one is unique in the amount of theories (ie autoasphexia, the mob, pharmaceutical) with no factual basis?

Occasionally, a thread will go nuts with movie plot scenarios like this one, but it's the exception not the rule. The Lori Ruff case was worse than this, and of course that turned out to be a simple runaway. On missing adult threads, witness protection is often suggested, which is silly, but that's usually the wildest theory presented. Usually the mods keep things a little more reined in, in terms of keeping theories more grounded in known facts and MSM.

Welcome to Websleuths!

We don't know any of that. We don't know if it was clean and precise or if they had bruises on them or not.

You have to consider the very name of the forum, "Websleuths".

The "web" part means it's online.

The "sleuth" part means:

sleuth

slo͞oTH/

noun

a detective.

verb

carry out a search or investigation in the manner of a detective.

It's a forum. It's a discussion about crimes. Theories and speculation based on fact, similar cases, common knowledge, MSM, or otherwise is all within the realm of "sleuthing".

If anyone would put forward that detectives don't create theories based on the very same criteria in order to advance the case, I would be shocked.

For example, just because they don't find a cell phone at the scene, doesn't mean they shouldn't theorize that maybe the victims has a cellphone, and proceed to find out if they did. Why would they look down sewers if a detective didn't theorize that maybe something was down there, and maybe they should look?

It's called Websleuths. People should be allowed to sleuth.

The Shermans' support of the Liberal Party, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, was more controversial than I had realized. Below is a link to an article, from 2015, that explains some of the political connections and concerns regarding the Shermans. I am not drawing any conclusions, but it does show that they were involved politically in Canada at the highest levels, and were active in fund raising. IMO

Wealth does not tie people to conservative ideologies if they can buy whatever party is in power. Trudeau and his Finance Minister are millionaires.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

If there is no smoke, do we presume that the fire was well hidden?

My theory of why they were doing the sewer search and asking for CC footage is that they were showing the public and the family that they were investigating.

Why did they say there was no intruder when they had not looked at the security informatuon? How would they know if anyone had entered the home?

Did they say no intruder or no signs of forced entry?

We know what happened to HS. Ligature neck compression.

What would you consider irrefutable evidence that would lead yourself to conclude it was a murder-suicide?

The point is to use some imagination and theorize a bit.

Honey's false fingernail in a wound on Barry's cheek
A clump of Barry's hair in Honey's fist, or her hair in his (mind you that could be planted so I would be cautious about that)
An imprint of a neck chain Honey was wearing on his hands
Footage of him attacking her on her phone
Fibers of a rug used to pull her around found under his nails

I think they were strangled from behind with a ligature. They were caught off guard so therefore there would be no scrappings under the nails. JMO

No sign of forced entry. But there are people on here that are then basing their thoughts on murder/suicide. Without the security information, to me it would be premature to say there was no forced entry. Someone could have come to the door and forced their way in when it was opened.

I assume they mean a forced entry to mean that locks and doors and windows were not broken

There was a Canadian writer and journalist on here already who disclosed how important police sources are to journalists. Joe Warmington of the Toronto Sun has used his sources for his "scoops" on many crime cases in the past including the Luka Magnotta and Tim Bosma cases. Personally, I find JW to be a bit of a clown and I don't agree with his politics at all but I will accept what he has at this point. JMO

I am one of those who goes only by LE statements in quotes, not unnamed sources, though sources are sometimes right in the end.

  • #578
Do we know for sure that the person who found them (realtor??) got in easily via key or lockbox? And that the door was not blocked from the inside in some way?

  • #579
My theory of why they were doing the sewer search and asking for CC footage is that they were showing the public and the family that they were investigating.

I share that suspicion. LE may in fact still think it's a murder-suicide, as initially leaked by an unknown source.

They may just be covering every possible theory because the wealthy family is conducting their own investigation, and may eventually file a lawsuit.

Personally I doubt a realtor forced entry to the home.

A Toronto police source told the Star it was the Sherman’s real estate agent, who had been helping sell the home recently listed for $6.9 million, who found the bodies, entering the home after being unable to make contact with the couple.
