I still think, IMO, that its might odd that Trudeau didn't speak at the memorial. Linda Frum was speaking as a friend of Honeys, not on behalf of the federal government. A senator is NOT an elected official but appointed.

Why John Tory? He's a very small fish in THAT pond, except hes another exceptionally wealthy guy who professes to be United Church but by birth is Jewish. When that skeleton fell out of the closet, he said 'of course I know' They go to such lengths to 'hide' things that don't need hiding.....makes me wonder why? There have been other Jewish Mayors, Nathan Phillips, Phil Givens, Mel Lastman....all better than Tory IMO.

Trudeau attracted a fair number of negative comments (at least on Twitter) just for expressing condolences, as BS could be a murderer. This was unreasonable IMO, as the condolences are directed at the family, not the deceased, but I think his decision not to speak at the service was entirely political.

As for Tory, even good old Mel L had the compassion to try to provide adequate shelter for the homeless during sub-zero temperatures. I'm so hoping we have a credible alternative for the upcoming election.

Seriously. I've been following the case here since the beginning and there hasn't been a peep out of them in a while. For the last week the posts here have been wildly off-topic and unhelpful. The same thing over and over and over again. New people joining and asking questions that have already been answered weeks ago, if only they'd look. Maybe the thread should be shut down for a week until more information is released.

Trudeau seems to be having more misses than hits. A couple come to mind - Omar Khadr & now with Joshua Boyle where he was simply helping a returning jihadi, err, I mean "hostage" reintegrate in to Canadian culture. Nuff said.

I wondered the same thing. Came to the conclusion that many might be concerned with future job security now that the owner
was deceased. Its been an open secret that Apotex has been having problems with Teva, all of the law suits etc.

With BS steering the ship, they felt secure but what now?

The memorial service could have triggered their own grief and loss issues.

Interesting. Where I live in a Third World nation, marijuana growing is forbidden. Of course, people grow it. The larger producers get busted.

It would be a boon to the economy here as the unemployment is at least 80%. And it would be good if the prices were so high that people would stop using it here to get high. It has caused many many problems.

The potency seems to far more intense here. I wonder if there will be research on different growing conditions and how the soil, air, heat, and humidity imoact a plant.

Then again, if this becomes a marijuana paradise, I could no longer live here as the housing would become too pricey. Oh oh.

I don't think the Order of Canada mattered to him at all. When you read his 'thoughts about life' or whatever he called it, not much mattered to Barry but Barry, money and beating out the opponent at any cost. IF they weren't murdered, I think he had a psychotic break over something and killled her. IF he chose a day, it could have been because she was leaving for Florida on the 18th (?).

As for using drugs, they aren't as easy as you'd think. Fatal dosages are hard to figure, we are all just a little bit different, chemically, from one another. You can use a general rule and half life of a drug but it won't necessarily work. Lots of people throw them up before they can work, you can lose consciousness before finishing the amount required etc, etc. Yet, people die of drug overdoses every day too.
He was probably afraid that they'd be brain damaged, not dead. or he just wasn't thinking cause he had snapped.

His children reported quite differently regarding BS receiving the Order of Canads, which the link has been posted on here several times. And, they would have a better perspective on how he felt regarding said reception.

This is intriguing as it would be a boon to countries that have no work.

If the crop is grown outdoors, it seems like there would have to be lots of security around the operation. Would someplace like Mexico have it grown by the drug cartels? They could certainly flood the marker with a cheaper product.

With plants, it is hard to control them as all kinds of things affect a plant. Light, rain, soil. Can Canada remain a leader ?

How would Apotex fit into this?

I don’t see it as a big deal as there are so many jumping on the bandwagon

One thing I must admit that's throws a question mark for me is why the Shermans listed their family home before the new place was completed.

For us common non-billionaire folk typically it's a matter of necessity because the sale proceeds are required to finance the construction. But doing it that way, aside from the inconvenience of residing in a home that's for sale, after it's sold adds the additional hassle and stress of temporary living on the interim, possessions being placed in storage coupled with unknown construction delays and move in date, essentially putting life in limbo during the entire duration. I don't understand why anyone who could obviously afford to complete the construction first wouldn't just move once and then sell the emptied existing home after the new one was completed.

If they had a perspective buyer....a move in date can be negotiated as well as the price of the house.

Yeah its dumb....but ask around. Most Canadians are still living open doored Also, BS and HS are old, so possible they still live that lifestyle. Money and fame makes people feel invincible.

can't tell you who nominated him, but it likely had much to do with his philanthropic work.
