BBM

That 6 months in Florida away from the business that he loved enough to work at long hours often seven days a week could have been a thorn in Barry's side that grew to be a full on spear. That is IF they planned to stay 6 months somewhere away from Toronto.

JMO

6 months is the max. allowed to keep Health Care etc. One doesn't HAVE to stay the max. allowable. Maybe they came and went, esp with their social calendar.

Walmart ads, TV ads, Astrozenca ads, other drug company ads, Walgreen ads, Too many links to list. But trust me, every time you go to fill a prescription here you are asked if you want generic and most of the time are told the price is 4 dollars for it.

So, in the US of A. As I said, Canadians pay 20% more for these less potent drugs than anywhere else in the developed world. Thank you.
FWIW, we don't pay 20% of $4, its usually much higher than that.......I don't have an average price as it varies from drug to drug.

There were no plans to stay 6 months in Florida that I'm aware of. They were due to return home from Florida on Jan. 12.

"Looking forward to getting together in Florida. I am coming south Monday, December 18 - Friday, January 12," she wrote in the email.

"Barry is coming south for Monday December 25 & going home with me Jan. 12. Please let me know your dates south asap so i can place in my calendar... Looking forward to hearing back asap. Xoxo Honey"

I can't read the article but Barry Sherman's company owns The One condo at 1 Bloor Street in Toronto. Also, a neighbour told reporters early on that the Shermans were moving into a condo soon.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/new...wer-1-bloor-west-set-to-rise/article36478606/

It looks like people have just recently been obtaining possession. So they would probably have just taken possession or are getting possession soon.

Just took a quick look and looks like I definitely cannot afford to live there.

It never does, until it happens, eh? How many times do we read about these almost 'choir boys' or girls who kill out of the blue?

Spouses who seem to be in love, have the perfect life.....til one kills the other. You never know.

We read about them all the time because we are on a board that discusses true crime. Most girls don't kill out of the blue, most spouses don't kill each other, etc.

Moving for them would mean that all of their belongings were packed up by some kind of hired people. Everything washed and packed perfecly.

Unpacking would be the same.

That house was horribly dated. The pool area totally depressing. The new house had lots of light. The pool would have been lovely instead of depressing.

Honey could have picked new furniture for the new house. Fun to go with the designer and girlfiends.

I have seen boutiques that sell nice items but I wonder how they stay in business. It seems like often they are simply the hobby of a very wealthy family.

I lkke what another poster on here said about the house as a fun project for HS.

Her name is on it so she can go to all of the meetings and make whatever financial dealings must be made.

If there was a meeting with the architect, I wonder what it was about as the plans had been drawn up. Maybe some changes? They were leaving but not for a very long time. Just a couple of weeks.Maybe three for Honey.

They have had the condo in Florida for awhile so whatever situation there is with work for Barry must have been dealt with awhile ago.

If BS did kill her, it must have been a culmination of lots of little things that went to the straw of the camel.

I wonder if he had been violent in the past. Does one have a violent incident only one time?

Do you reckon he went to see an architect without knowing they were planning to build anything?

Murder suicide is not a fact.

I'm just throwing ideas out there, and I am going with what police said about this being a murder/suicide.

"Officially, Toronto police have released little information about the deaths, beyond that they were deemed suspicious. But police sources confirm to the Star that police are now probing the possibility that they were a murder-suicide."

https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/20...gating-death-of-billionaire-and-his-wife.html

It's one thing to build a house, and another thing to build a house that requires this type of custom parts. For example, this part of the future home alone would cost millions:

"The drawings show a home with five skylights, ranging from six to 17 feet in length, letting light pour in across the roof of the main brick-and-stone residence. Another massive skylight, 41 feet in length, would slide open from the centre, over an indoor pool."

Did you take a clean drive straight up to Alaska? We've been to Boseman, Montana and part of Wyoming. That's wide open spaces.

Yes. We went through Grand Prairie and Whitehorse, We crossed into Alaska around Tuk.

Montana and Wyoming are both wide open spaces with beautiful scenery. I have been to Wyoming a couple of times. We have wide open spaces in the state I live also. Our biggest city here is around 600,000 in population.

Price Matters

This is just walmart...almost every other pharmacies offer the same.

Here in the U.S. I have a Medicare prescription drug plan (known as “Plan D”), and at my local pharmacy (not a chain) I’ve paid as little as $2 for a 30 day supply of a very common generic drug. But depending on the drug, the price can be much higher, even for a generic. Every year I shop around for the best insurance company for the meds I take. The prices vary considerably between companies and even from year to year with the same company...by as much as $30 for one med I take! Each company places meds on a “tier” of their choice and that can make a huge difference in what you pay. Not to mention the fact that the monthly premium and amount of the deductible changes annually. All of that has to be factored into my decision. But I’m very grateful for drug coverage even though it’s not perfect.

Yes in the USA. I am sorry if I did not make that plain. I guess I assumed by my posts most people would infer I lived in the US. My bad.

But here goes. I live in the USA, south of the Mason Dixon line. And yes Walmart and many, many other pharmacies have 4 dollar generic prescription drugs. Then you have GoodRX and Single Care and so many other discount prescription coupon companies so most prescriptions not covered by health insurance end up being very reasonably priced.

On the other hand, drop down into Mexico and the prescription drugs get much, much cheaper.
Since I live within a days drive from Mexico a lot of seniors drive down there once a year and buy a years supply of their prescriptions that are not covered by Medicare. Prescription drugs are about half the price in Mexico as they are in the USA.

Mexico is also a very lovely country. Just thought I would throw that in there.

I hope we hear something after the 1st. Their children know them better than anybody and if they say it's not suicide/murder, I believe it. I'm glad they hired a PI.

  • #353
Not a fact.

I know that it has not been proven in court that the wife was killed first, and I understand that some have chosen to disbelieve the information that has been reported in the news. I choose to believe.

"Sources close to the case believe Honey may have been killed in a secondary location in the $6.9 million Old Colony Rd. house and then moved to the location where she was later found with her deceased husband.

“Forensics need to be done and post-mortems on the bodies, but at this stage it appears there was no forced entry and no evidence of anybody else in the house,” a police source said."

The police were thorough? Hardly. The "source" said they believed it was a murder-suicide, what?a day or 2 after the deaths? We have no idea why that was said or who said it! Only that it was NOT an official statement. It could have been said simply because they didn't see evidence of forced entry.

Of course, there is absolutely nothing that says suicide OR murder at this point unless a person is speculating over some tidbit from the media. However, looking at it logically I definitely lean towards murder:

The age/health of the victims (moving the body to the pool area, faking the hanging)
The placement of bodies (the bodies themselves and location)
The method of death (hanging instead of shooting, pills?)
The timing.
The eulogy - the son didn't HAVE to say all that he said, neither did Honey's sister. Their insight into the dynamic of that marriage was key, as far as I'm concerned.

I think we need to give police a little more credit. There's no reason to assume that on the basis of "no forced entry" alone, they jumped to the conclusion that it was a murder suicide.

  • #355
That doesn't mean he knew anything about police methods or forensics.

He was a chemist not a forensic scientist or coroner. IMO you could have put what he knew about police work in just a couple of sentences, maybe gleaned from CSI or other police drama TV episodes.
If Honey had a serious injury not explained by the hanging he would know.
If Honey had struggled with him and had injured him he would know.

I realise I could be wrong but for police to take an immediate view on her cause of death (murder) before the autopsy I'm thinking it was most likely an obvious murder, and unlikely to have happened at the far end of the pool, unless they had gone for a swim which to me seems unlikely given their suspected attire. Why would they think it was BS who murdered HS and not the other way around? - I think there are strong indications leading to HS' body.

So, my opinion is based on the very early leak of information and is that they didn't have to search very hard to uncover evidence of Honey's apparent murder. As I said I could be wrong, but I don't think one has to know anything much about forensics to know that bodies leave traces and DNA etc. Films, books, newspaper reports, famous murder trials means most know enough these days to know how crimes are detected.

Where was their condo in Florida? Did they own it or rent?
I think it's hard to imagine a lifestyle where money is no object and you can hire the best to make many decisions for you.
With a good architect, builder and interior designer the major decisions are carried out for you. It's a fun project, when you have money. Like a kid in a candy shop (for Honey).

I'm starting to lean towards this being a double murder initiated by BS's business dealings. As soon as I discussed
this with my adult son and mentioned the schemes for generic drugs, his thoughts were immediately that he was
knocked off by a competitor in the Big Pharma world. I'm sure this is similar to the thinking of their adult children.
Sounds like it's a cut=throat world in that business.

Yes she still could have been killed after him and moved to hang next to him - the scenario you were describing was one of double murder where the killer had leverage over Barry.

  • #359
The police are still working the case, so use of the past tense is incorrect. There has been no police statement except for COD, no conclusions whatsoever, so that is NOT what the family are objecting to. They have every RIGHT to hire a second autopsy and a lawyer and an investigator.

I think their 'complaint' that filtered to the mayor was that they were NOT notified of the deaths by the police but by media.

Otto, with all due respect, you do NOT know its not a double murder, the family is not concocting conspiracy theories and Im sure Lawyer Greenspan is NOT considered by anyone but you as a questionable lawyer. Please link anything Brian Greenspan has done that is remotely questionable.

At this time, police are not looking for any suspects, and they are investigating the deaths as a murder/suicide. Police are not investigating this as a double homicide. We've know that from the beginning. We've also known that this fact has upset the family.

If someone is unhappy with how the police are doing their jobs, they take that up with the police, not the mayor.

You can twist every scenario into a double murder though.

If there is no note or video, what evidence would convince you it was a murder-suicide?
