It's possible the killer(s) pushed their coats and sleeves down behind them, tied their hands, strangled them, and positioned the bodies, and then removed the ties just to confuse matters and/or to complete the staging. What we may never know is why not just use a simpler means of killing, and why the staging.

FWIW, I recall reading in more than one of the early articles that the sleeves of their winter coats had been pulled over the hands of one or both victims. If so, IMO the killer(s) must've given a final tug on the sleeves after removing whatever was used to bind the victim's hands.

Just curious. After watching commercials on TV warning the public that it is illegal and a criminal offence to drive under the influence of marijuana, does this mean that those who have a prescription and take it for medical purposes can’t drive? I have read several articles on driving under the influence of marijuana and none of them addressed this.

  • #804
Yes that's what it means. Driving under the influence is any mind altering substance, including prescribed drugs.

I believe its considered the same as driving under the influence of liquor/beer etc. If one is high, how can they drive responsibly?
Once its legalized, you won't need a prescription. It will be sold in shops such as the LCBO.

https://globalnews.ca/news/3977237/barry-and-honey-sherman-death-investigation-report/

"'Donovan told Pierson he hasn’t received information on who might be responsible. He said the declaration in December that they weren’t looking for suspects is problematic for police.

“The first thing that happened were a couple officers at the scene the night the bodies were discovered said, ‘We are not looking for any outstanding suspects’ and that’s what really got everything started,” Donovan said.

“That led to the media saying, ‘Well if you’re not looking for a suspect, that must mean it’s murder-suicide.’”

Alex Pierson, on Global News Radio 640 Toronto, had two interviews about the Sherman case yesterday:

1. Investigative reporter Kevin Donovan about his recent article in the Toronto Star. (7:29)

https://omny.fm/shows/on-point-with-alex-pierson/report-barry-and-honey-sherman-were-murdered

Donovan goes on to say (at 6:10 in the audio) "I suspect that at some point in the next week or so, the police are going to have to formally reclassify these as homicides, which frankly they do all the time..."

I think if this as a hit (professional ), there is very little evidence. Add on the contamination of crime scene by 1-3 paramedics, 2-4 firemen,4 police, 1 real estate agent, 1 housekeeper.(all these numbers are guesses only, based on usual numbers of any medical emergency call.)
I wonder if one of them was killed first, then second one nabbed coming in front door later.Wasn’t HS car out front? One man could over power her, but surely it would take two for BS?
Hand ligatures? To control them til they got to where death was going to occur. Very doubtful a killer would drag dead bodies?
I don’t care what anyone says, but propping them up in attempts of a sitting position at poolside, is a message. A clean professional hit isn’t in the staging business. To me it smells of a sarcastic immature statement. Who’s?
Big pharma, or trashy druggie cousins?
I think the leak is genuine, why else would Donovan put his cred on the line? Whether it as a smart move or not???
I also think...if prof hit, you will never find killers, but bunglers like the cousins...only matter of time.

I agree that professional killers, or assassins, would have no need to hang bodies after strangling, or using neck compression . It would make for a quicker exit, if they just left the bodies on the floor. As I stated in a previous post, I think the killers were instructed to hang the bodies, stage the scene, and leave a message. I suspect they would also have taken pictures for their employers. Part of that message was I believe to the Jewish Community at large, that these people crossed some very important people, and deserved to be shamed, and suffer an ignoble death. It is probably also a warning to others, in positions of power, not to do whatever Barry and Honey did that provoked such anger, and even hate. In Judaism hanging is seen as a divine curse. I provided a reference in my other post, but you can just google it. IMO

Yeah, I sometimes have to drive past the house I shared with an abusive partner, and I wish I could have demolished it. I can only imagine how they must feel.

I wonder if there are ex-business partners or pharmaceutical rivals, who would be capable of this? Possibly someone with a dark past, or even someone who just snapped. I also still keep the cousin(s) on the list of possibilities.

same here i pass the house i was severely abused in every day. This morning as i drove by I was kind of happy. I hid in BC for a long time to deal with it. The trauma took on a life of its own and i realized that driving by it so many times i confronted the reality and it has no hold on me anymore.

We have the double-murder theory.
We have the murder-suicide theory.

Is anyone looking into the murder-ASSISTED-suicide theory? ... ie. Barry muders Honey. An Assistant ties Barry's wrists behind his back and helps Barry set up the hanging. The Assistant (paid by Barry) would be provided with access codes, keys, etc to perform their task efficiently.

No not buying murder assisted deaths.... In your scenario "the assistant" would have to have known Honey was murdered before hand by Barry as in your scenario she's already dead then Barry has "an assistant" to help him make it look like he committed suicide? That "assistant" would be an assessory to murder and could be charged with murder. Who in their right mind would agree to do such a thing. JMO

Maybe they removed the ties because they had brought them with them and they might contain forensic evidence? They may have removed them after they were killed so that they could be disposed of or destroyed?
Could they have been abducted and hands tied, then brought back to residence, hands untied the strangled?
Hands had to untied for a reason IMO, a signature on a document?
If there is a different TOD, then it seems as though HS tied up to wait for BS to return home.
NIGHTMARE stuff however it happened!
Strangling someone is close up and takes time. It is usually done by someone well known to the victim

Sure sounds like a team and not a one man job.
(Of course one man with a gun could do it..)

obviously Somewhere Barry screwed someone over enough so that they sought revenge. Who could this be?
i have people that have screwed me over for millions. I have nothing. I never once thought of killing someone. It would have to be someone with the financial means to hire hit men. Since Barry travelled in that type of circle it could be any of his contacts that felt jilted. But most likely someone that lost a lot of money because of him or was aboit to lose a lot of money.

Canadian billionaire and wife may have been killed, report says, conflicting with murder-suicide theory

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2018/0...s-conflicting-with-murder-suicide-theory.html

Despite previous reports that a Canadian billionaire and his wife died in a murder-suicide, a private investigation has reached another conclusion: that Barry and Honey Sherman were allegedly killed in a double-homicide.

The couple were reportedly found seated at the side of the pool at their house. They were facing away from the pool, according to the Toronto Star. The remaining end of each belt tied around their necks was then looped around “a low railing that surrounds the pool,” in order to hold the couple in place, according to the paper.

Does this mean the Sherman's were already dead when they were meeting with the Architect?

Huh? They couldn't have met with the Architect if they were dead before their supposed meeting. I'm presuming the murders likely happened after the meeting with the Architect. But when was the meeting do you have a link to when and where the meeting was or was to be?

One cannot drive while "impaired" by any substance, including prescribed medications - be they pain meds, sleeping pills, marijuana or whatever.

I had to lovingly explain this to a family member at one point.
-----------------------------------

In reading all of today's posts to catch up on this case, one thing that strikes me are the statements of presumed knowledge about what a "professional hitman" would or would not do. Where is this knowledge coming from? Movies? TV shows? The only professional hitmen we seem to learn about are the real life idiots like the two who were hired to murder Doctor Theresa Sievers in Florida. (Not that I'm unhappy that those criminals were stupid bozos.)

Or occasionally there will be the spouse who attempts to hire someone to kill their partner and ends up sharing their nefarious plan with an undercover cop.

I personally am officially ruling out "a professional hit". Which still leaves murder/murder and murder/suicide.

I know the children must be nigh onto desperate to not have this be ruled a Murder/Suicide, but for some reason I still think that's a fairly strong possibility. There could have been an altercation right there in the pool room in which the father lost his temper for some reason and reached out and struck the mother in the face, knocking her to the floor. And things went downhill from there.

I would want to see a comparison of the opinions on both autopsies regarding marks on the wrists. Remember the various autopsy opinions in the Jon Benet Ramsey case? It seemed that every expert who examined the photos came up with something new and different.

The fact that there are no leaks coming from the police is a good thing, not a bad thing.

Grey -St is correct, these are experienced investigators, which makes this public statement all the more troubling. If LE thinks this is a double murder, this disclosure could jeopardize their search for/surveillance of the possible suspects. Very troubling that this could happen.
I know my side of the fence doesn't have many folks on it with me, but I can't help but wonder if this story wasn't released to get the familiy's position out there because they may know that based on the actual evidence that LE has gathered, LE is Reaching the conclusion that this was a m/s. Imo

Maybe the Police have a very good idea and now will more closely monitor said individual/s. As usually when perps know the Police are onto them they usually make mistakes or change alibis etc. Perp/s may get more edgy? JMO

I remember your interesting speculation about shaming the Shermans. I agree that the death scene is what one might expect from a 'murder-for-hire' rather than a 'professional hit.' IMO, whoever hired the killer(s) had a strong need to make the victims suffer, (strangulation is very personal).

As for me, I suspect the cousins. I think one or more of them wanted revenge, not only because they believed they were owed a larger share of Apotex, but also they might have blamed Barry Sherman for the death of their mother, who died within weeks of the father's death. Hence the killing of Honey Sherman, as payback to the Sherman family. JMO

Have to ask..
Have the Shermans had any landscaping done recently?
Not that i think either were into it, but something about the belts ect is reminiscent of bdsm.
imo, speculation.

Did you hear recently in the news of the Toronto landscaper who turned out to be a serial killer? Hmmm

i kinda get it with the jewish thing because business is sacred i think in judiasm. You have to treat people proper and fairly. its very sacred. Go into any jewish store and you will hardly see regulars paying upfront for their items. why? its all on credit and an honour system.
