I think more likely a pair of earrings like these, you can see something is cracked off the upper part of the earring on the left. The pearl could be broken off and the damaged part is face down on the pearl.

Tottally agree! The two ear rings that the reporter found were too close in size to be what was posted by other posters. As I own a couple pair of those other ear rings there is a substantial difference in size between the pearl and the diamond.

It took them six weeks to admit these people were murdered. I wonder how long it would have taken them if the family had not had the resources for their own investigation?

I thought the legal investative team really laid it on the line with their press conference. That is 'their private autopsy evidence was irrefutable'.Their exact words in the release were crystal clear,"[FONT=.SFUIText-HeavyItalic]BS & HS wrists showed evidence,at one point ,bound together".The logic being that there was another CS where BS and HS wrists were bound with i.e. tie wraps. That statement made it plain BS & HS were brutally murdered.

I am not savvy on homicide investigations. But I do find serious fault with the initial investigation withholding (just sitting on it)the crucial fact BS & HS had markings on their wrists consistent to having been bound i.e. zip ties.(I think it is obvious both autopsies had to have noted this fact)

The initial leak of suicide from whatever source brought shame on the Toronto LE Community.

Absolutely it took pressure from the private investigative team for the Toronto LE to confirm that irrefutable fact

I just want to add BS and HS reminds me of Bruce and I. He had a EE and was very scholarly. I am lively & theatrical like Honey. Barry let Honey shine while he just basked in the glow of joy she brought him.

They were a fabulous team and I cannot imagine the irreconcilable grief that their children have suffered. What ever kind of justice the demonic murders are dealt will be but a balm to ease the pain that will never go away.

Does anybody on here horseback ride? This may be completely off base. My memory is foggy as this was twenty years ago... but I remember a belt being used when putting your saddle, harness, bite, etc on your horse. Isn't there a belt with two sides that are buckled??

<modsnip> IMO, there was a lot of thought put into this double murder. It always appeared to me that is was a professional hit. Then, with respect to the killing, there was also time taken to kill and stage unlike a regular homicide where you get in (perhaps take what it is you went in to take), kill, and get out as fast as you can (regardless of the evidence/DNA, etc. you left behind). I do not watch TV, I am not in law enforcement, but I have a sport psych degree if you can imagine. :laughing: The tiny leak at the very beginning with the coats pulled down was enough for me let alone the hanging by the pool was the clincher.

IMO, there was a clear message sent to someone. I don't know what it is but somebody out there understands perfectly what it is.

However, it appeared that we all wanted justice for the horrendous murder of this elderly couple or at that time Honey (depending on beliefs).

I agree with Quinnergirl. I think it was obvious from the very beginning that this was a double homicide. As a Canadian, all I had to do is hear the names, and I knew immediately the Shermans were targeted. It's possible Americans might have jumped to the wrong conclusions, not knowing the wealth and high profile of this couple, but the Toronto police have no such excuse. Also,how many people who commit suicide pose themselves? They just want to get the job done.

No doubt this was a meticulously-planned murder, so I don't think it will be easy to solve.

I ride and have horses. You are thinking of a girth. It has double billets on each end and attaches to buckles on the billets of the saddle.

Then belts were looped through the buckle and tied in a knot around the pool railing.

I believe that they were facing away from the pool but the most recent accounts. I don't have the link right now. Can't remember if that was in the family's PI report or not. I don't recall any recent reports saying they faced the pool. I think that was very early speculation.

What did they do together that was very high profile, and had ramifications for, and influence on the lives of others ? My opinion is that one thing would be fund raising, in the millions in political spheres, as well as the Jewish Community, but the causes of a professional hit team being sent to kill both of them, and stage the murder scene in a specific way, may have been other things too. LE said they were both targeted. I think that is very important information. Honey was not just killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. IMO

I think Honey was targeted too, because whatever the motive was, it wouldn&#8217;t be solved if she was left alive, ie donations would continue, personal grievances continue. She probably thought the same as Barry about many issues.
By killing them both, their power is gone.
I don&#8217;t think it was a matter of her being in wrong place at wrong time.
Today I&#8217;m leaning towards the cause being connected to Apotex, seems so odd JD would leave like this in the middle of their biggest crisis, after all his years working there.
Not inferring he is involved, but that is probably the biggest thing that has changed, CEO gone.

The real difficulty with this particular search warrant, simply put, is solicitor-client privilege. As with any judicial authorization, police do not have free rein to grab what they please. Specifically, they are not allowed to access any document that discusses legal advice or out-of-court settlements&#8212;and because Sherman and his drug firm are entangled in their fair share of lawsuits (to put it mildly), it will take some effort to sort out which records are off-limits on the grounds of solicitor-client privilege.

That detectives are anxious to pore through Barry Sherman&#8217;s electronic communications is hardly surprising. Now that police are sure they&#8217;re dealing with a double homicide&#8212;and busy compiling a list of adversaries who might have wanted the couple dead&#8212;Sherman&#8217;s computer files could very well contain the case-breaking clue. Which begs the next obvious question: What if that clue is hiding in a privileged record, shielded from police because it&#8217;s considered solicitor-client communication?

This investigation hasn&#8217;t reached that point. Not even close. But if it ever does&#8212;if police come to believe that one of those privileged records could lead them to a killer (or killers)&#8212;prosecutors can ask a judge to order the documents unsealed.

I don't recall anything that specific being quoted. From the beginning I pictured them with their legs in the pool, while others assumed just the opposite. If you have a source, please share.
