I'm not so sure about the reasons for purchasing NR. Many foreign investors are buying up huge ranches simply because
raising food animals are a good investment. everyone needs to eat.
The land itself is a solid investment, it generally rises in price
at a rate better than most other investments.
Did you notice Gang Ranch is now owned by a Saudi Shiek?
I would like to know the long term strategy on why the Taiwanese
family bought NR. And who was advising them to clean house
and change their operational strategy?
By leasing out the hay operation, the ranch gave away the profits
on hay not needed by NR. I've never seen a large farm w/ animals lease their hay operation. They usually work the hay
fields themselves and sell off excess. Lots of hay gets exported
at great prices. It's why we little horse owners have to pay exorbitant prices for top quality hay- because so much is
sold to foreign countries.

I agree, it's about holding that much land that attracts big investors. The area was isolated by a mountain range until the highway was built in 1986. Now thousands pass by daily to and from Vancouver, though at this point, few stop.

Hello all; longtime lurker here. This case really gets to me. I’m about 4 hrs east of Merritt. Family friends live up in the area. Not sure if this is against the rules as is pure speculation and involves a name, but has anyone considered it odd that KR found the horse? ***Please delete if not allowed.

Why is this odd? According to family friends who live up there, KR is a well known bear poacher (MSM reports list him as a “hunter”/ “trapper”) who sells bear parts to China for Chinese medicine. According to these locals, BT had unpleasant dealings with KR and this was well known amongst many locals.

Again, please delete if not allowed. Could be coincidence that he found the horse. He does hunt up there after all.

Good point, I'm sure police would need to look closely at the person who discovered the horse, and their movements or interactions with the missing person.

I recall following the case of Sid Cranston, missing in the wilds of Arizona: it was the person who reported him missing who had made him disappear.

Wonder is NR owners were aware of the ban and if they were
familiar w/ the poachers who took bear off NR property? The

Didn't a local say the bears weren't hibernating like their normal schedule this year due to the warmer temperatures? I think that was back on the first thread.

I have never considered KR a suspect.
I’ve spent countless hours researching this case & it has not been easy, lol. With the few MSM articles, it makes it difficult to openly discuss findings.
Idk how much all of you have sleuthed, what you found, or if you have a suspect in mind.
My list consists of one person with a second person at least suspecting my primary suspect. For me to change my opinion, there’s gonna need to be some earth shattering info.
I think I can’t even post initials because a POI has never been named.

Here it is: To prove guilt of someone in a crime. The perp must have had the:
-Means (to commit a crime) Poacher carried a gun to hunt with.
-Motive- poacher had previous run in w/ BT.
-Opportunity- out in the backwoods, no one else around and poacher put himself in the same area that searchers believed
BT to have traveled to looking for stray cows.

Not sure about that. I think bears hibernate (or go into a state of torpor) regardless of the weather. They make awaken early if winter is warmer than normal. BC Has been have a fairly cold stretch since right around the time Ben went missing, according to locals posts here.

Playing devil's advocate here and not meaning to disregard your theory. But, then how did Ben get out so far away from the ranch on his horse?, how would KR or any hunter there dispose of his body?, why did Ben not tell anyone where he was going and not take his cell phone?, why do LE suspect the horse (and possibly Ben) were trailered into the area? Also loggers supposedly spotted the horse first, but could't catch her..not sure of timeline of this, not given I believe. KR found her later.

Not one comment I've seen on FB or forum, ever considered him suspect of anything except to question the previous capture/rescue that is his claim to fame.

2pm would definitely be a very late start, for riding in January. Especially to ride alone, w/o a phone. IMO, Ben would have saddled up very early if he intended to ride, unless just exercising Gunny was his intent, sticking close to home.

And he supposedly would have followed protocol by telling someone if he were planning to go out that far..and have taken his cell phone. JMO

Again, as manager, specifically a new manager, I don’t see Ben w/o phone 100% of the time.
Even on his days off. A manager in any profession is always the manager. Staff should always be able to reach their manager. If nothing else, what if a ranch hand needed to call in sick, unable to feed, needed Ben to cover for him? Or what if animals got loose, injured, someone dropped in wishing to meet/welcome Ben?
Plus, Bens dad was recovering from an injury, Ben would have his phone in case his family needed to reach him, imo.
And the obvious, what if Ben or Gunny did get hurt? Of course he’d need his phone so he could reach out or at least have a chance of being found. Jmo

I constantly check the Wyoming news outlets hoping for an article that might open doors for our discussion. But, there’s nothing.
Most cases have frequent updates making discussions much broader.
Not complaining, by any means. I want RCMP to arrest their man & have a solid case.
