I am normally not impressed with large rewards being very productive. This case may be the one where a large published reward just might get some nice results from the community.....moo

I am stunned the owner of NR didn’t offer a reward. However, it is MOO he has an appropriate reason for not doing so.
It is also MOO the Tyner family might offer a reward, in the future. Surely they have a legal team advising them.
If this case continues on I would not be surprised if they bring in a PI. I think the only reason they have not is due to the fact they know the perp’ & are giving rcmp time to get the last piece to their puzzle. Again, this is moo, based on the public statements made by the Tyner family which to me indicated they knew Ben was deceased. Their comments all tendered finality.

Regarding the timeline, any reports that Tyner was seen riding out at 2PM Saturday are unrelated to his disappearance. He was seen on Saturday night, and RCMP believe he disappeared on Sunday - which could mean at 1AM on Sunday:

"At this point, RCMP say they have determined Tyner would've likely left on Sunday, however it's still not known how he got into the backcountry.

"We know of his whereabouts on Saturday night, so that gives us an extra day," Merritt RCMP Const. Tracy Dunsmore explains. "We are still looking at how he may have gone up here, because we're still thinking that maybe he was driven up. So we don't know who would have driven him up, or if there's anybody out there that maybe brought him up with a truck and trailer, and we're looking for that person if that did happen."

Looking back at the chronological sequence - your quote of LE’s statement on Jan 30th, claiming they know of Ben’s whereabouts on Saturday night came the day after media reports of last seen at 2pm. Confirmation of the Saturday night appears to be an update of more recent information learned by RCMP through their investigation.

“Tyner was last seen on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., and was not working at the time, according to RCMP.”

This is the RCMP statement regarding Ben. He was at the ranch on Saturday afternoon, and RCMP are interested in information about him after Saturday. That is consistent with other statements from RCMP that he was seen on Saturday night, but not at the ranch.

"Ben TYNER was last seen Saturday afternoon at Nicola ranch where he has worked as the ranch manager since November of 2018. His whereabouts after Saturday are still being investigated and RCMP are asking if anyone has any information or saw Ben TYNER anytime over the weekend of January 27th to contact the Merritt RCMP or crime stoppers."

@otto it is very possible Ben rode Gunny around the ranch for a couple hours, then went out to socialize, maybe he had a date Saturday night. However, we’ve never been told where he was seen Saturday night. If in public, one would think there’s video documentation. Again, I find it unusual rcmp never said “Ben Tyner was last seen Saturday evening at John Doe’s pizzeria, anyone seeing him after this sighting should call......”

There’s always a reason behind the nature of information that LE reveals but it’s seldom obvious without knowing additional facts. Perhaps there’s no need to engage the general public because they already know where he spent the evening, who he spent it with, and when he went home.

Or maybe it’s a bit of a red herring LE just chose to throw out there - ie something pertaining to Saturday night that police might “know” that would be of great concern to a suspect?

It seems rather straight forward. RCMP know he was at the ranch on Saturday afternoon. They know where he was on Saturday night. They are looking for information about what he did on Sunday.

Lol I’ve spent my life working with LE, I know how they operate.

Possibly LE wish to protect the person he was with Saturday night.

I sure haven’t, just that I’ve noticed rarely do our Canadian police disclose detailed information during an ongoing investigation unless it’s absolutely necessary. This case is a good example.

RCMP have provided information about Ben being at the ranch in the afternoon and somewhere else in the evening to narrow down the time that something happened. Since his vehicle was at his home, it's likely that something happened when he returned home on Saturday night or early the following morning.

Yup, we discussed the possibility someone was lying in wait when he arrived home Saturday night.
Ben, as we know, was a big guy. It would take someone equally fit to handle him, imo. You know, a strong guy, an athletic type or possibly a cowboy type, I think.

Ben’s life was likely quite chaotic the short time he was at NR. Not only was he taking over the reins of a large ranch, he was settling in, learning the area, meeting with locals he would be doing biz with plus calving season wasn’t far off. I think he was probably receiving resumes, preparing to hire his team for what had to be his favorite time of the year, calving & roping.
It’s just heartbreaking someone shattered his dreams.
Hopefully that person will soon be behind bars, never to smell fresh cut hay, hear cows calling their calves or ride a horse or whatever he enjoyed. Moo

Curious, if LE knew the whereabouts of Ben on Saturday night, why are they interested in sightings of him riding on Saturday? Do they think he might’ve rode over to somebody’s place on Saturday, stayed over that night (aka the known whereabouts) and then he disappeared at some point during or after riding back home on Sunday??? That would seem quite complicated.

I think it's like any investigation where police gather information, try to confirm it, and move forward. Two and a half months ago, it looks like they were looking to confirm the statement that Ben left on Saturday afternoon and didn't return.

Does one normally keep the horse trailer hooked on the truck all the time or just when they are going to haul a horse? What about going out to town for the evening? I wasn't able to view the video in the article to see if it shows the actual truck and trailer in his driveway but I thought I remembered seeing it somewhere.

His truck and trailer were still parked in his driveway when he was reported missing.

I don't know anyone who keeps a horse trailer hooked up to a truck when not hauling a horse.

Boy, I haven’t seen that image since the first thread.
No, he wouldn’t haul his trailer on an evening out. Well, if his evening was at the stock auction, he would. But going for dinner or drinks, there’d be no reason, it’d be a hassle to park
The photo you are referring to the trailer was unhooked, correct?

Sometimes when a person doesn’t show up for work, his coworkers will check on him or call LE to do a welfare check. For some reason Ben’s coworkers at NR did not.

Thank you very much for finding this!
From your link, an unusual piece of information:
“Details of the allegations against Caprian are protected by a court-ordered ban on publication.”

Sorry if this has been addressed already. It is not really unusual. Even though it is a "court-ordered" pub ban, it could well have been requested by the defence for the protection of their client to ensure a fair trial. It is SOP that if the request comes from the defence, the ban is always granted. IOW, it is not necessarily a case of the prosecution or the judge covering up info or not wanting certain info publicized.

Cellphones have other uses. And limited reception doesn’t mean no reception. Since people who know him say it’s unlike him to be without his phone, then my opinion also is it’s a red flag for phone to be left behind. Jmo.

I still find it strange that Ben did not take his cell phone, especially if he headed out alone on horseback. I got cell service all down the hill into the valley on my old cell phone 2 weeks ago.

And I think the police and Ben's family might have an idea how long Ben was gone by the condition his dogs were in, especially if they were left alone in his house. Food bowls empty, little water, puddles of pee and piles of poop. Nose prints on windows, nail scratches on doors from frantic dogs needing to get out... jmo
