"A 14-year-old was found murdered in a park in Mississauga early Friday morning.

His body was found on a path leading into Meadow Park, which is located on Truscott Drive in the area of Queen Elizabeth Way and Southdown Road, just before 8 a.m. on Friday.

The park is located behind an elementary school, but police say there is no connection to the school."

“It is very early in the investigation, we are considering a number of factors and we are looking to speak with any witnesses or anyone with information,” Const. Iryna Yashnyk told CP24 at the scene.

The park where the body was located is next to an elementary school but Yashnyk said that investigators do not believe the boy had any connection to that school.

She said that police have notified some of the boy’s next-of-kin but are still working on notifying the rest of his family.

Meanwhile, the park has been cordoned off with police tape and forensic officers are currently on scene.

Investigators are also canvassing the surrounding neighbourhood for surveillance footage and witnesses, according to Yashnyk."

"Const. Danny Marttini said the victim, a high school student, left his home in the Truscott Drive and Southdown Road area on Thursday night. His body was found just before 8 a.m. Friday, Marttini told reporters, adding the teen hadn't been reported missing and it's unclear why he left his home.

The park where the boy was found is not far from Clarkson Secondary School, where Martin attended classes. While there are a number of other schools in the area, Marttini said there's nothing linking them to the boy's death."

He appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice on Saturday morning, where he was remanded into custody until another appearance scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

Later on Saturday, officers said they had secured a warrant for the arrest of Nicholas Mahabir’s brother, 20-year-old Mark Mahabir, in connection with the incident.

He is sought for second-degree murder.

Mark Mahabir is described as a South Asian male, standing five-feet-eight inches tall and weighing 97 pounds.

He has black hair and brown eyes. His image was released by investigators on Saturday.

WARMINGTON: Triplet, 20, arrested in 14-year-old Mississauga boy’s slaying

A manhunt underway for his 20-year-old identical triplet brother Mark Mahabir.

“We have issued an arrest warrant for second-degree murder was for Mark Mahabir, the brother of Nicholas Mahabir,” said Insp. Martin Ottaway, head of the homicide squad.

A third brother is not wanted by police or believed to be involved.

He encourages Mahabir to turn himself in.

Maybe the boy had a connection to two of them but thought, it was only one and always the same one? WHY a connection, I don't know. Two different things I can guess.

My first thought was skateboarding. That COULD explain any interactions. But then, why are you going out so late at night? I need to further research this Meadow Park.

Co-accused in killing of 14-year-old Mississauga teen appears in court
Peel Regional Police sent out an arrest warrant around 5 p.m. Saturday for Mark Mahabir and said he turned himself in shortly after.
“He heard the police were looking for him, so he called me and then we arranged to pick him up and I took him to the police station,” said his lawyer, David Midanik, outside the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
"All I can say is a vigorous defense will be mounted. He’s not guilty of these charges.”

Mark Mahabir’s appearance comes a day after his brother, Nicholas Mahabir, appeared in court, also charged with second degree murder in the same killing.

His lawyer, Marcus Bornfreund, said he was picked up at his girlfriend’s home without any warning.

“They are non-identical, fraternal triplets,” said Bornfreund, when asked about the brothers. “Mark and Nicholas and there’s a third brother.”

About a week ago Riley’s school was put on lockdown after a 13 year old student reported that his life was threatened online. A 19 year old from a neighbouring town was arrested and charged. Weird coincidence

And the accused in the threat case as well as the brothers who were arrested for the murder of Riley are FB friends! There has got to be a link to the previous incident.

Oh my goodness if poor Riley was also the victim in the first case! He must have had a week of foreboding. Not sure if it’s ok to link Joshuah Jainarine FB but it’s easily searchable.

My Godson goes to the same school as the boy who was murdered and has shared many classes with him. My Godson also knows the Mahabir's and has had run ins with them in the past.

IMO this is going to have something to do with drugs. MOO

"One of two 20-year-old brothers charged in the murder of a Mississauga teenager appeared in court Wednesday morning.

Family and friends of victim Riley Driver-Martin were on hand as Mark Mahabir attended the Brampton courthouse and heckled him as he left."

“What could a 14-year-old possibly do in order for you to have to kill them?” said Riley’s grandmother Sarah Martin. “It’s just incomprehensible. Our family is broken.

“We will not rest until we have justice for Riley. We will be at every court date. We will be at every trial date. And we will not rest until we see justice.”

“(Christmas) was extremely hard,” said Martin. “We didn’t even celebrate Christmas because how can you celebrate when you’re missing a part of your heart? He was the heart and soul of our family, and he’s gone and we will never have him back. We’re broken. The family is broken.”
