dbm found what I was looking for

Haha I had to look up what dbm meant lol. You're totally fine! I should've added that in my previous comment.
It's the stamp (with Chinese letter) you see in his case info photo.

@hanuel as you are Korean, are you aware of any equivalent of Websleuths in Korean, or major sites where people post, looking for missing persons?

The full phone number is 204-786-6701.

Business is now defunct but the address associated is 609 Erin Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3G2W1. If Doe was an international student in Winnipeg he probably would have attended one of the bigger universities, University of Manitoba or University of Winnipeg. I am more inclined to believe it is University of Winnipeg, as it is about 6 minutes from the address listed above.

There is also a smaller Christian university named Booth University that he may have attended. It is located close to University of Winnipeg.

I just learned that one of the well known Korean crime docu tv shows is seeking information regarding this case:
I hope they reach the right people who know about him finally.

Based on his Bible I wonder if he was of Korean ancestry if not a citizen of South Korea. However that doesn’t mean he wasn’t a Canadian citizen or an American citizen. He could have been born in Canada or America to first generation Korean American or Korean Canadian parents. Let me look up when immigration from Korea to Canada or America became legal.

Edit: Ok looking at the Wiki page on Korean Canadians it turns out the first “documented” Korean citizens to settle in Canada were Korean Christians sent to Canada as Seminary students back in the 40s but mainstream immigration didn’t pick up until 66 when immigration laws were amended thus making the trickle into a flood. Meanwhile Korean immigration to American began in the 1880s, stopped after Korea was annexed by Japan, then became fully open in ‘65 (even though international adoption and war brides did lead to a trickle of Koreans entering America). So theoretically “Ken” could be a Canadian citizen born to first generation Korean Canadian. Ok that makes finding his identity a bit easier…I think. Just have to go through Korean Canadian communities in Toronto and Vancouver (as well as Montreal) and see if any families reported a stop of communication from their sons.

Oh dear gods and goddesses I have shot myself in the foot haven’t I?

Probably. He wouldn't be taking English language classes if he was born in Canada. Universities and other post-secondary institutions do not accept students until they meet TOEFL score requirements.

I wonder whether he was lured and robbed.
