Abondance is a cheese. It is sold in Ontario but I think it may originate from Quebec.
Thank you. I was behind in the thread and now realizing the apron woman has been located!! Wow, glad she wasn't made up!!

For those of us not familiar with the area, could someone figure out the distance between where she was reported missing and the place she was located?
Thanks in advance!
It's not clear where exactly she was picked up along the 417 but it's probably close to 100km between Couteau-du-Lac, where she was first reported missing and St. Albert, Ontario.

Happy Day!
Agreed - we don't get that many of them lately and this one is so much better than what we feared the outcome would be!

Thank you! So not likely that she walked...

And it was said she appeared healthy. Hmmm
Did it say she appeared healthy? I know it said that she was conscious and speaking which is definitely signs of health!
Global has reported that she was taken to hospital for food and hydration which leads me to believe that she was alone for some time. If she was being harboured, I might imagine that the search for the farmer aproned witness might have spooked someone. I don't think anyone can face the thought that she might have been alone for 3 days.

Would they have pulled over somewhere and mom fell asleep in car and girl and dog wandered off? Doubtful from locations, but such a strange thing to happen this whole thing.

Is mom lying or telling the truth? Did she make it up? Fall asleep and toddler wandered? Black out/break from reality/psychosis?

She was weak and dehydrated, but conscious and able to speak:

If she has truly been alone these last few days - how on earth?? What has the weather been like in the area - I know there are several members on here that are local.

Does this mean that the OPP will become involved in the investigation (or hopefully take over) now?
Fingers crossed that they do.
They are extremely well trained in investigative techniques.
Jim Smyth anyone?

It's at the very least, an hour drive.
St. Albert is a Franco-Ontarian community, part of the belt of mostly Francophone populations in northeasternmost Ontario east of Ottawa and Cornwall extending to the Québec border.

Ottawa is itself one-fifth Francophone, east end neighbourhoods like Vanier and Orléans being mostly Francophone, while Cornwall is one-third.

In a real sense, this whole area is part of the extended Ontario hinterland of Montréal, geographically contiguous with the triangle of land between the Ottawa and St. Lawrence rivers part of Québec known as Vaudreuil-Dorion. (That triangle stayed part of Québec when Canada split because that was the furthest upstream extension of French seigneuries.)

As the parent of a toddler and a preschooler, I'd be surprised if she's been in the woods this whole time. She looks too clean, particularly with light colored clothes. And, to speak frankly...is she potty trained? Even if so, I don't know if I'd trust a distraught 3 year old with backwoods toileting.

I'm so glad she's alive, not matter how it happened! But how odd.

All just my own opinion, of course.

I am actually just leaving Montréal with my partner. We stayed with his sister for the Simple Minds concert—excellent show. The weather has been warm and humid, no air quality issues, and no rain.

This is the quote regarding appeared healthy.

“A drone spotted CB by the side of Highway 417 near St. Albert, Ont., just after 3 p.m., according to Quebec provincial police
She was alone but seemed healthy. It was the Ontario Provincial Police who found the girl.’
