Circumstances of Disappearance
Littlejohn was last seen on Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation, 90 km south of Winnipeg, in 1968.

She had had begun a romantic relationship with a man earlier that year. The investigation revealed that Christina and the man had been drinking all day on the day of her disappearance. When the couple left the last residence that they had been drinking at, they were seen walking into the woods together.

After Littlejohn disappeared, friends and family assumed she had moved to the United States to get away from what they believed was a volatile situation.
It wasn't until 1976 that a relative from Roseau River contacted the Emerson RCMP and asked that they check into her disappearance.
A two-year investigation was conducted, but no one was charged and her whereabouts couldn't be verified.

Littlejohn was declared legally dead in 1995, but the cause remained unknown and her whereabouts still a mystery.

On December 18th, 2002 a suspect was arrested in Emerson, Manitoba and was charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of Christina Littlejohn in the summer of 1968.

Media specialist with Manitoba RCMP, Tara Seel, explains it was initially thought that Littlejohn had moved away from a volatile situation, but in 1976, Seel says the RCMP was contacted regarding her disappearance. Further investigation revealed Littlejohn had been murdered by her common law partner, and in 2002 he was charged. However, Seel noted the accused passed away before the trial could get underway.
To date, Littlejohn's remains have not been found.
