Unfortunately, even after surgeries and blood donations, Constable Pitt died in hospital. This photo shows him, hospital staff and his family. One of his sons later committed suicide at the age of 17.

A good man doing his job and sadly, the criminals were never found.

Someone ALWAYS knows .....

The murder of Const. Ronald Pitt, shot to death in 1957, also remains unsolved.

HUNTER: Cops killings rarely go cold. OPP undercover’s ’84 murder did
''There have been three cops murdered in Ontario over the last 100 years whose cases have gone cold.

The clearance rate for murdered cops tends to be spectacular even if the result in the courts and prison system is not.

Neither was the case for Const. Ronald Pitt, 33, of the Morrisburg Police Dept., in eastern Ontario.

On Sept. 23, 1957, the rookie cop died in a Montreal hospital after being shot three times while working the overnight shift. Pitt saw two men trying to boost a car and gave chase.''

''In the darkness, he was hit by three bullets from the thugs’ guns: the chest, the spine and a finger.

No one has ever been charged and the murder weapon was never recovered. The killer’s lone fingerprint in Pitt’s police cruiser is all that’s left to tell the tale.

More recently, a snitch came forward pointing a finger at the man long suspected of being the Scottish immigrant’s killer. There have been no charges.''

''Tricia Kirkwood never met her father.

David Kirkwood was just a 21-year-old rookie constable with the Ottawa Police when, on July 11, 1977, he was shot and killed while assisting officers execute a warrant, for assault causing bodily harm, against Frederick Koepke, 22, at his Gladstone Avenue home.

Tricia was born eight months later.''
