Ontario resident,

Thankfully, well into my second cup of Tim H, double doubles, as I've spent the morning trying to register to get an appointment.

Started off, with the 1 888 999 6488 gov't number.
(Not in age group for Peterborough, Oldie but goodie, but not old enough, yet.
Dude told me to phone back Monday)

Ended up at the Shoppers Drug Mart site to register:
https://covid-19.shoppersdrugmart.ca/en

Easy enough.

ETA: Registered 3 requests for the family and
awaiting Shoppers Drug Mart's
notification of an available appointment.

Yipikaye!

what does everyone think about the Astra Zeneca shot? I'm concerned about the 'rare' side effect of blood clotting

Premier Doug Ford receives AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on camera

Got my first Covid vaccine today. Literally didn't feel a thing and all seems well and I'm not anticipating any side effects. Process was exceptionally organized. I was glad to get the Moderna because I was a bit concerned about the AstraZeneca due any blood clotting issues. Wouldn't have had a choice anyway, so there was no sense in worrying about it.

Due to the relatively few cases of blood clots reported in relation to the vaccines administered worldwide, I'm not convinced it is due to the AstraZeneca vaccine, and possibly these were folks who were predisposed to blood clotting disorders.

I posted this the other day.. it seems VERY rare, and apparently they already know how to treat it.. also there have been zero cases of it happening in Canada. I wouldn't hesitate to get whichever one becomes available to you when your opportunity arises, especially with these 'mutants' spreading so quickly now. Also, I have read that all of the cases were experienced within something like 20 days or less, most within 2 weeks I believe, of receiving it, so apparently it's not like you'd have to worry about it for long. Now they are talking about people fainting after getting the J&J vaccine. Always something!

We did AZ vaccines all morning for those over 55 with no health conditions. Folks were very happy to get their vaccines. Our local doctors don't see any real issues.

This aft we vaccinated vulnerable people with Moderna.

Funny story from today's clinic ... I registered a husband and wife couple and then they proceeded together to the line going in for their vaccine. One of the workers was rather officious and asked them to stand at two separate spots.

The wife piped up, "Oh but we're together. We're married!"

The husband stepped back to the spot six feet behind and said, "Yeah, but we're really not all that close."

Fainting is most likely from getting a needle, not from the vaccine. Sheesh, my sister is a nurse and she faints every time she gets a needle. She used to faint when she gave others a needle!

I hope we don't get endless news reports about people fainting.

Funny guy! Did his wife laugh?

Canada's third wave on track to become its worst yet as hospitalizations spike - CNN

“Canada's third wave of the pandemic is now more serious than the previous two, as hospitalizations and critical care admissions spike and the vaccine rollout is unlikely to change things over the next few weeks.

"The end is definitely in sight but we're not there yet. This third wave is more serious and we need to hang in there for another few weeks to make sure that we can flatten that curve, drop those numbers down again, to give a chance for vaccines to take hold," said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during a press conference in Ottawa Friday.“
