I had my first and second vaccine shots in May and June. At the time, I added a reminder in my calendar for late November that my immunity might be reduced. It must have been in the news in June that immunity waned over 6 months.

Add to that, data from Israel supports the theory that 6 months after two shots the Delta variant can still cause serious illness in some people.

If I'm eligible for the booster shot, I will book the appointment anytime after November. From your link, this is good news:

"Moderna has asked regulators in the U.S. to greenlight a half-dose (50mcg) of its original vaccine for use six months after the second shot. Hoge says its data shows the booster brings antibody levels even higher than after the initial shots across all age groups."

If we need the boosters, I hope we can get Pfizer as well.

I saw something about them keeping Pfizer for children?

I'm over the age of 18. yep, I am. lol

Anti-vaxxers now have another drug to add to their concoctions: blood thinners such as aspirin.

"The use of blood thinners by COVID-19 patients, either before being infected with the disease or afterward, can reduce deaths by almost half, according to new research.

The study, published in the open-access, peer-reviewed journal EClinicalMedicine, looked at ways to reduce clotting and hospitalizations related to COVID-19 through the use of prescribed blood thinners.
...

The study also found that patients on blood thinners before contracting the virus were admitted less often to hospital despite being older on average and suffering from more chronic medical conditions than their peers."

I'm surprised that pregnant women need daily reminders to get vaccinated, and they still delay.

"Unvaccinated mother never regained consciousness to hold her newborn daughter ...

Rosebluff-Thomas, 35, was from Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation, just northeast of Regina, and lived in Edmonton with her eight children, ages one, five, eight, 12, 16, 17, 19. She was 29 weeks pregnant with her ninth child when she contracted the delta variant of the coronavirus in late August.

She wasn't vaccinated.

Pregnant women who get COVID-19 are five times more likely to require hospitalization than the average person, and 10 times more likely to need intensive care, according to experts in maternal fetal health. ...

"When they were doing the emergency C-section, the nurse called me and told me they were doing it to save her so she could get oxygen into her lungs," she recalled."

Booster shots are being released in Alberta by age group.

"Alberta is expanding the eligibility for COVID-19 booster shots on Wednesday to Albertans 75 and over and First Nations, Inuit and Metis people 65 and older.

These groups can get their third vaccine dose a minimum of six months after their second, Premier Jason Kenney announced."

I suppose this could happen in Canada as well if the pandemic is still in full force next Summer.

"Israel's fierce fourth wave of COVID-19 cases may be in retreat, but the country is on the offensive against the coronavirus once again — with an unprecedented round of vaccine boosters for everyone older than 12.

As of this week, millions of Israelis who were considered fully vaccinated with two shots lose that status unless they get one more. Their "green pass" will hit a red light, once again denying them access to public places like restaurants, gyms and movie theatres.
...

"We were the first to learn, to realize that the vaccines were waning, getting weaker," he said in a speech to the United Nations last week. "We faced a choice to either drag Israel into yet another set of lockdowns, further harm our economy and society, or double down on vaccines. We chose the latter."

Still, experts and health officials elsewhere have been cautious about following Israel's lead.

Canada, Britain, the United States and some other countries have recently recommended boosters for seniors or those at high risk of disease, but no other government has approved a third round of shots for the general population."

(To me) it's incredible the things it takes to get through sometimes. So simple. Yet obviously not understandable to this individual until a trusted individual said it to him in a way he could comprehend?

The brother-in-law then said he, being double-vaccinated, was more of a danger to Lerato than Lerato was to him.

"I said how? He said, 'Because I could be carrying delta or COVID but it won't affect me really because I'm vaccinated. So, if I give you a handshake or give you a hug and you're not vaccinated, you're going to get it.' It kind of woke me up."

I've noticed that I feel like I have more freedom when indoor mask rules are in place. When masking rules were dropped, I felt more restricted and reluctant to go to indoor spaces because I perceived that there was a greater chance of infection.

It's quite a paradigm shift to feel safer with something that that was so foreign and odd a year ago.

All of this is taking a mental toll on all of us.

I was not happy to hear the ‘new’ head honcho on the radio, saying that you can go trick or treating but do not shout or yell in case you aerosolize the breath.

Firstly it’s an outdoors activity for children (mostly), children get excited and are supposed to be having a good time etc.
It’s not as if saliva is pouring from their mouths when they yell or shout.

I doubt that yelling or being a bit loud even aerosolizes at all.

I’d love to see any proof, double blinded and peer reviewed, of this phenomena.

Are we to be forever subdued, isolated and new rules every time we turn around?
Some sensible and others not so much.

I see that all capacity restrictions are being removed from cinemas and other gathering places as of Sunday.

But for heavens sake do not laugh at the funny parts of the movie!

my 2 cents.

I've seen peer reviewed articles that I trust explaining aerosol in indoor environments, and how covid aerosols can linger in the air and on surfaces after the infectious person has left the room. I can look for the link if you're interested, although it's not applicable here.

Regarding outside environments, no mask. The wind blows, the aerosols blow, hopefully they don't infect anyone down wind. For now, fresh air, wind, rain and snow are clean.

Most human aerosolizing is from coughing or sneezing.

Raising ones voice comes from the increased volume of air being forced through the vocal cords, not the actual act of breathing.

As you say, what you're mentioning is not applicable to my earlier post.

This dude is late to the party and IMO, he's grasping at straws here. MOO

ETA: you cant tell me that people have not been yelling/shouting during these lockdowns. Yet its not been a huge vector for COVID, that anyone but him has mentioned. MOO

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! (Tomorrow)

Just something I saw awhile back:

***Have faith in the Pfizer vaccine.

***Don’t forget they make viagra.

***If they can raise the dead….

***They can save the living.

Hope this made you smile. :)

I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was shared with someone, and that the day will be less restricted next year.
