I'm not trying to stray too far from this case in particular, but regardless of what he's charged with or sentenced to, I'm sure it won't seem like enough. The justice system protects offenders; not victims or their families. I'm including an article from a 2016 case that happened in Saskatchewan.

So his motive is sexual. Period.

We now have our latest victim, two boys and another little girl. That's 4 children that have fallen prey to this guy and he's still out there walking around. In my book, he is a Sexual Predator and starting as young as he is and with this mental disability I see no hope of treatment to change his behaviour. That's purely MOO. I have no statistics to back this up but I'm not liking any chances of rehabilitation.

There just isn't much else to say is there?

Difficult to say. We dont have any info other than he put her in a car and drove away. Clearly, that supports the non sexual charges. Once the judge establishes the true charges, we will know the context of the event.

This morning, Charles made a very brief appearance in a Prince Albert courtroom. Charles’ shoulder-length hair was wild and unkempt, and he wore white, hooded coveralls which indicate his clothing may have been seized by police as evidence. He did not say a word as his case was adjourned to give him time to seek representation from Legal Aid. Charles will appear again tomorrow morning over video link from a correctional centre. The allegations against him have not been tested before the courts.

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. - The mother of a girl allegedly abducted from a Saskatchewan playground says what happened to her daughter shows it can happen to anyone.

The woman says she is tired of reading that the eight-year-old girl was unsupervised when she disappeared from a playground in Prince Albert, Sask., Tuesday.

In a post on her Facebook page, the woman says her daughter was with her grandmother who had left for a few minutes to get a bottle of water.

She says her family has always tried to protect her daughter, who she says was educated about kidnapping.

I don't think so. See the following discussion of the previous cases. Virtually no penalties....it reads as if there is more info concerning the situation that we don't know.

Court documents show Charles, who is also identified as Jarrod Charles, was charged with abducting two boys early last fall in La Ronge, Sask. However, the charges were later stayed.

Charles is currently on probation after pleading guilty to sexual interference. In December 2016, he was sentenced to three and a half months time served and three years probation for a case involving a nine-year-old girl.

We warn kids about the boogeyman strangers. The creepy older men who want them to help find a puppy. We don't warn them about the teens who want to play some video games with them, who seem just like any other kid but a little older. I had something a little similar as a kid, a teen boy on the bus chatted with me about video games and gave me a friendship bracelet. But I never picked up on him being a loner that didn't get along with people his own age and preferred hanging out with little kids. My older brother noticed and made me stay away from the guy.

The eight-year-old girl abducted in Prince Albert last week was released in a wooded area outside the city after an Amber Alert was issued and then walked by herself to a rural property for help.

“Police received a call from a rural citizen reporting that a young girl matching the description that was provided through Amber Alert had walked into their yard and was with them,” said Prince Albert police Insp. Jason Stonechild on Wednesday during a press conference at the P.A. police headquarters.

Yup, he did what he wanted to do with her and then DUMPED this poor child out in the middle of nowhere. I can't imagine how scared she would have been. Thank Goodness she was able to find her way to safety.

Hopefully we will know what actually happened to her on July 14th, if the judge posts true charges. I'm now a bit confused with the news today. No info has been provided where she was in the space of 4 hours other than a car. Hopefully we will know soon...so glad she is alive and well.

Charges are being upgraded against a man accused of abducting an eight-year-old girl from a Saskatchewan playground.
Court documents show a charge of sexual assault against Jared John Charles is being changed to aggravated sexual assault and a charge of break and enter of a dwelling house is being added. Charles, who is 19, still faces other charges that include kidnapping, forcible confinement, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.
Charles, who has also been identified as Jarrod Charles, is scheduled to make another court appearance July 28.

So, ummmmmm....SHE *WAS* UNSUPERVISED. Does this woman not understand what unsupervised means? It means LEFT ALONE, providing an opportunity for a sexual predator to scoop her up and take off with her, which is EXACTLY what happened.

Please don't pull this post and say it's victim blaming. This is a response to a public statement by the mother on this specific topic. The bottom line is, if the child had not been left unattended, this specific crime would not have happened.

A Saskatchewan man who triggered two Amber Alerts, one of which was the abduction of an eight-year-old girl from a Prince Albert playground, is being released.

The first Amber Alert was in 2016 and the other in 2017 for abducting a total of three children, one of whom he sexually assaulted.

Saskatchewan RCMP said Jared (Jarrod) John Charles now aged 27, plans to reside in Regina.

RCMP and the Regina Police Service want the public to know on March 18, Charles was released after serving his entire sentence and is “considered to be at a high risk of reoffending sexually and/or violently.”
