I wonder when these bodies were discovered and why LE have sat on that info...
To me, late last week means Thursday or Friday. Saturday or Sunday would usually be referred to as the weekend.
It could be just to limit speculation, since the bodies haven't been identified. But also, if there were signs it was murder, they'd prefer to try to identify a suspect before that person knows they're looking.

Did they take down the Find Dan and Ryan FB page? It says 'no longer available' when I search. Perhaps they do know it is them, and like you say, they are trying to limit speculation if there are signs of murder. Perhaps the family knows more than what is being released to the public.

They could be informally identified, through rings, hair colour, etc, but formal lab or dental tests still pending.

Unless the remains were found on a beach, I believe it is them, no one else is missing from tiny Ucluelet.

Just noting as mentioned in the article FWIW, (tho it's been posted before in this thread that it is a call-in station), & maybe nothing at all

...Ucluelet is the only port on the island's west coast with a call-in station for reporting to the Canada Border Services Agency.

What bearing that may have had I have no clue.

Where are Ryan & Daniel???
Does anyone know if they used a Call-in Station when they went through USA Customs when they were in Hawaii? Call in station in the USA means you call them when you are getting to port and cannot leave the boat other than to dock, until Customs shows up.

I also do not know what this means other than then had to go through customs twice, USA and Canada. If I was doing something wrong not sure I would risk it twice.

Oh NO!!

If the remains are DA and RA - I wonder if their baggage was found too. So many questions.

Satchie,

Great thinking - they may already have a viable suspect in mind.

I believe there's been a lot of investigative findings in the background as to who was in that area during the three days, their voyage from Panama and importantly their contacts in Panama.

I pray for the loved ones of these two persons found.

Praying for love and comfort to hold them tight during this unbelievably difficult time.

Without casting aspersions, I don't think these guys were on their way to the laundromat with those big bags...

And if it has really been a few days since discovery I wonder if the remains were partially destroyed (burning? something worse?) ...something that would make ID-ing harder...
I'm not getting a rest-in-peace sentiment on SM yet, but admittedly, it seems some gave up hope of a happy ending a while ago.
I am sad about this news. And also sad about a probable connection with some kind of nasty crime network...

Hi Cpeacock1,

I feel stunned about this news of them possibly being found deceased. Hard to accept this.

Saddening news.

You mention the baggage. There sure was a lot of it.

They've had the Vancouver Island Investigative team in since - June 6th or 7th? I hope they have something pieced together.

I think there could have been many valuables they'd want to take from the boat, rather than leave them unattended for a month. Could include fishing gear, electronics, radio equipment, safety items.

With respect to remains, 1 month in the rain forest in late spring...

Oh no I just read through the thread. This news here on this page doesn’t look good. I was hoping they were adventuring somewhere while reading along.

<modsnip: removed hearsay>

So sad for the families if indeed it is them.

That being said if it is them and they were found so close to the marina, they didn’t make it far.
Also, as has been discussed. I know that if I was able, I’d certainly be returning for my $100 000 boat that was only paid to the 16th.

I still feel they were walking quickly to a ride no one knew about.

This is so sad

Most of this region has always been leased from the government for long term logging. Other than fishing and tourism, those are the only industries. The logging company builds roads to access timber, and once an area has been clear cut, abandons it for somewhere else.

So my guess would be this is an area formerly logged <modsnip>

My thoughts are, if it turns out to be them, and if it was murder, someone local would be the likely culprit, or someone who's explored the area well. Which is extremely scary for a village of less than 1,700 people.

Just a reminder ... 3rd party info is hearsay and a "source" without a link is considered rumour. Please don't discuss information that isn't linked to an official source such as MSM, LE, official Missing social media site.

Thanks.

from the article linked upthread:
RCMP investigating remains of two people found in Ucluelet area

Mounties say the remains were found in the area near Ucluelet by a woman walking her dog, but it's unclear exactly where they were discovered.
<bbm>

Let's not kid ourselves ;) ... RCMP are very clear on where they were discovered, so it is information that is not being released for strategic investigative reasons.

... finding two deceased bodies is deeply saddening.

I have tremendous gratitude towards the law enforcement who have been working tirelessly to find answers. This has to be difficult for them as well.

May comfort and strength hold the families close during this unimaginable pain.

Our natural human instinct of compassion comes out during times like these.

The spokesperson for the family of Ben Kilmer, who is still missing, expressed empathy and compassion towards the families of Ryan and Dan.

It is a tribute to humanity when we learn that someone who is in the midst of great suffering extends kindness and compassion to another.

Excerpt from the (below) news article:

"Shannon Wiest, spokesperson for Kilmer’s family, said they believe the two bodies could be those of Archbald and Daley."

“We’re imagining that possibly that it is Ryan and Dan,” she said. “We want to express our deep empathy for the family and their friends.”

Remains of two people found on Vancouver Island, yet to be identified
