During the news conference, RCMP Staff Sgt. Greg Abbott provided an update on the search for the boy and his mother.

“It is heart-wrenching, to see what the family are going through day in and day out, in an extended search like this … the family are on scene every day,” Abbot said.


He said crews have searched the river from the park all the way downstream to the weir, with plans to begin searching further downstream.

“We’ve done a complete land search at the Chief Whitecap park of all of the area that we feel is pertinent to this investigation at this time,” Abbot said.

“(Even though) we have covered the entire area from Chief Whitecap park to the weir does not mean to say that we can say 100 per cent that Dawn and Vincent are not there,” Abbott said.

“The river is a constantly changing medium, the channels are constantly changing. Historically, it’s been our experience that it is easy to miss, that’s the reality of it. We’ve done everything we possibly can to make sure we don’t miss anything,” Abbott said.

Walker is a longtime employee of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN).

The operations coordinator for the FSIN’s Indigenous search group Erica Bowden echoed Stonechild’s plea for property owners to look for anomalies such as recently disturbed soil.

FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron closed out the news conference by announcing that work is underway to offer a reward for information that helps locate Walker and Jansen.

“If Dawn and Vinny are not found in the next 48 hours, expect another announcement, a reward for those who are going to be responsible for locating (them),” Cameron said.

Investigators searching cellphone records, banking history of woman missing with son

Just my opinion but if Dawn did finally move I don’t think she would let the community search for her this way, she’d make contact to confirm they were safe.

Only can think it was a terrible accident and she tried to save her son after he got pulled by the current, but they both ended up carried away, or someone set up a disappearance after causing them harm.

That's [bolded above] is what I'm leaning towards as well. If there was a blanket by the water, makes sense they were sitting close by. A 7 yr old can be very spontaneous and impulsive. Wouldn't take much for the child to accidentally fall into the water.

Or perhaps they were both wading in to cool off and the boy got taken by the tide...she'd follow for sure...

Erica Bowden, who is co-ordinating the Indigenous search group for the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN), said there is knowledge and expertise that Indigenous people have that make them invaluable assets to the investigation and search for Walker and Jansen, which is why an Indigenous-led search is also going to be organized.

Bowden has worked on searches involving missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls since 2006. This search is particularly emotional, as Walker works as executive operating officer for FSIN.

“We never, ever give up, because every life matters,” Bowden said, calling the current situation “incredibly serious.” Bowden added that any case involving a child is critical.

While FSIN chief Bobby Cameron shared his concerns that no Amber Alert has been issued by police, Obst said the requirements for such an alert require proof of an abduction of a child.

The FSIN has said they plan to announce a reward for information that aids in the investigation.

“We’ll announce it in 48 hours when the time is right, with the family’s approval,” Cameron said.

I was also imagining a current could take them under as children can be spontanious. But a couple of thing nag at me about this as they had a blanket out to sit on and as evening falls less and less people are at the beach. Vincent was seen by his father at 6PM so it would have taken time to get to the location where her belongings were found. So say they got there at or after 6:30PM when was the sun setting? If she lives close (town) she would know the currents can be unpredictable so why go after 6:00PM when people are likely to start leaving. It hasn't been reported that a woman and child were drowning for me that's concerning. So either they were there when people were there or were not. If they were not there when others were there then it could be nefarious. Maybe she thought it would be safe to be there close to dusk maybe to watch the sunset and they drowned or something else happened. I feel Dawn was aware of the risks so she would not put herself nor her son in that position. So for me this is puzzling. Was her purse found at the blanket does anyone know or were her belonings scattered? If others weren't around wouldn't Dawn be on the safeside and not be anywhere near the water for her son's safety, IMO she would be on the safeside not anywhere near the water but far away from it but still be able to have the great view. So if this was the case then IMO something else happened which Dawn had no control over.

I'm think the perp (who was known to them) followed them to the park or knew they'd be there at a certain time, and he abducted both of them.

I think RCMP want video footage to see what other cars drove in between 18.00hrs and 06.00hrs.

I also think her purse and the blanket were in different areas of the park. If I found a purse on the path/bushes, I'd hand it in. If I saw it on a picnic blanket, I'd probably leave it thinking the person wasn't too far away.

Respectfully, it has nothing to do with the fact that she’s indigenous IMO - I would have the same questions if she wasn’t. The primary reason I question this not being a water accident has to do with the history of DV. On top of that, her ex jumping to the conclusion that she probably ran away makes me uneasy (illogical conclusion considering all you’ve stated about the car, blanket, etc.).

Ultimately, I hope Dawn and Vinnie are safe somewhere. If something did happen to them, God forbid, I hope it was simply an accident, and that no one else is involved.
