''Toronto police were called to the park in midtown near Davenport and Avenue roads just after 4 p.m. for reports of the stabbing.

The owner was walking the dog in the park when someone stabbed the dog. The dog was taken to a vet hospital with multiple stab wounds.

Police tell CityNews the suspect and dog owner did not know each other. It’s not clear what prompted the seemingly random stabbing.''

''A masked man wielding two knives attacked a dog in a park near Toronto’s tony Rosedale neighbourhood, stabbing the pet multiple times before fleeing, police said.
Toronto police said a man was walking his dog at Yonge Street and Ramsden Park Road, near Rosedale subway station, at 4:11 p.m. Tuesday when a man wearing a blue surgical mask attacked the dog.''

the article in post #1 said 'the suspect and dog owner did not know each other' but the article in post #2 says 'The person arrested is not the dog’s owner, but is known to the dog’s owner.'

so did the dog's owner just not recognize the suspect who had a mask on at the time?

strange ...

but the good news is doggo is expected to survive - hopefully with no long lasting symptoms

The person who called to report the stabbing was the person arrested. To me it sounds like a friend/family member of the dog’s owner has gone out and taken the dog for a walk, stabbed it, and then called it in. Why? Who knows.

Just imo.

oh I see
thanks!
that's even worse
poor doggo

Glad the police figured out who the real culprit was, because this is confusing!
Also relieved the poor dog will recover.

This article says that while investigating, the police discovered the “person believed to be the owner of the dog was not technically the owner and is now a suspect in the stabbing.”

Police say the complainant who reported that their dog had been stabbed by a stranger in Ramsden Park, was allegedly the one responsible for doing so. Michelle Mackey has the latest on the dog's condition.

Erm... okay?

Dog is the unwitting victim here. Glad to here he's on the mend.
