Accused guilty of manslaughter in missing Winnipeg man’s disappearance | The Star
''WINNIPEG - A jury found a Winnipeg man guilty Wednesday of manslaughter in the presumed death of a husband and father who disappeared nearly four years ago.

Kyle Pietz had pleaded not guilty to a charge of manslaughter in the death of Eduardo Balaquit, who was last seen on June 4, 2018, when he left his home to go to his job as a night cleaner.

Pietz and Balaquit had worked in the same building in the city’s northwest.

Crown prosecutors argued Pietz killed Balaquit in an act of financial desperation.

The jury heard Pietz robbed Balaquit of his bank card and pin numbers and then disposed of his body in a rural area outside the city.

His body has never been found.''
My question is how did he get Eduardo's financial information? I fear something horrible has happened to Eduardo, sadly. This was so premeditated that a verdict of manslaughter doesn't really do justice IMO. Although I understand why the decision was made. IMO Eduardo may have been horrifically treated in order to get his PIN numbers. So sad.I can think of other cases where victims were tortured. I hope that didn't happen in this instance. But possibly. He was looking for a perfect opportunity to commit his robbery. He was circling around the building for so long. I think he played upon trust afterall he had worked there before. That' why perhaps Eduardo at first was at ease and then realized too late what the real intent was. I can't help but think there is something far more sinister than just a robbery here as Eduardo has not been found and I don't think he ever will, sadly, because it was intended to be that way.

''The Crown argued Pietz killed Balaquit during a robbery at the place where they worked together before disposing of his body in a rural area outside the city.

While reading victim impact statements, one of Balaquit’s sons asked Pietz to give the family some closure and disclose where his father’s body is located.

The Crown is asking for a sentence of 18 years.''

Hopefully he gives that information but I don't have much faith that he will unfortunately. For one thing its been many years and in that time he could have provided the location. So sad. Maybe if he does then perhaps he can be tied to other crimes as well so he's hiding this. I wonder if he has done something like this before and just not had gotten caught. I just feel he is hiding more than he's telling. LE got him on the evidence they gathered here for this case but what about another they don't know about. I haven't followed the trial lately is he being charged with manslaughter? 18 years is a long time for manslaughter in Canada so that's good at least. The other crimes don't necessarily have to be tied to murder or they can so its not necessary that LE would suspect anything unless there was evidence of such. Just the way this crime was carried out just really makes me wonder. He used familiaritywith the victim, it was very brazen so IDK I have my suspicions.

Insult to injury, this poor man and his family, the important thing now is to locate Mr Balaquit's remains, imo.
