Found Safe Canada - Emma O'Keeffe, 6, North Battleford SK, Sept 16 2018, autistic

Off topic, but I would NOT want to get in a tussle with that French RCMP officer at the presser - he looks like he could break people like toothpicks!

Why was a disabled child left in a running vehicle unattended?
Until those closest to her are ruled out by LE, I will attempt to withhold judgement!
Why has it taken so long to locate this car? Keyless entry must have some form of gps on board.

Police say Emma O'Keeffe is Caucasian, three-feet-six-inches tall, and weighs 44 pounds. They say she suffers from epilepsy and autism, and is non-verbal and unable to walk.

Perhaps Mom was loading up bags/groceries? Or putting cart back? Ugh I do not like this one bit! Please let this person just abandon this car with her safely inside.

This tweet from a local news reporter might give some more background: Morgan Modjeski on Twitter

Emma's mom says that the vehicle is hers and Emma was in it. Looks like a stolen vehicle with her in it?

Morgan Modjeski on Twitter

"Bring her back, quite simply" King tells reporters when asked if has a message for the person who is reported to have stolen the vehicle with Emma O'Keeffe inside. "Bring her to the nearest detachment. Contact 911 yourself. Do whatever you can to get her back." #amberalert

I wonder if the car has been abandoned and they just haven't found it yet. That's generally what happens in these situations. I hope regular people are also out looking in parking lots and such.

Currently in Alberta and just made the drive in from Manitoba. Its crazy how many grey GLK’s there are here. How scary for the little baby girl. A stranger and no ability to communicate or run for safety. It’s also cold and snowing on and off. I hope this is a legit story mom is telling, or do I? I don’t even know anymore. Emma be strong.

I'm sure the running vehicle was the target, so hopefully when the perp discovers Emma, they'll get her to someplace safe and warm. It's currently only 2 degree C in North Battleford.

My concern is that the car has been abandoned somewhere rural with Emma still in it. Temperature is hovering just above the freezing point and rainy.

They have made it very clear this is an abduction, I'm guessing they have video.

RCMP victim services, RCMP members are with O'Keeffe's family right now. O'Keeffe was in a car seat in back when SUV was stolen. Car was left running an unlocked as parent went into business, according to RCMP. RCMP major crimes now on case. #yxe #amberalert

95% of the time when these are actually stolen vehicle cases they have happy endings. It makes me very nervous that she's been missing for 5 hours though... I didn't hear mention of how she eats. She is very little. I wonder if she has oral aversions or if she eats normally by mouth?

SCARED me!

I wonder if this is seizure medication?

UPDATE: RCMP say Emma O’Keeffe requires medication every 12 hours and needs this medication to be taken in a strict time frame. Missing a dose could lead to extreme medical distress. #yxe #sk #sask

Police did not say when she last had her medication. O’Keeffe has been missing for over 5 hours now. #yxe #sk #sask

AA finally made it to my phone, 3 hours after it was issued and about 2 hours after it got plastered all over the news and Facebook anyway.

I know that Mom should not have left Emma in the car. However, when you have a non verbal child who also cannot walk, sometimes it really does make more sense to just run in somewhere. Many kids like Emma will have serious sensory issues that make "just running in real quick" a total nightmare. I'm not judging Mom for leaving Emma in the vehicle at all. Sometimes that is actual the safest option.

However, the car should have been LOCKED. I don't know how that all works with the newer cars. I drive older ones that you either lock with a key or a button. I would leave it running with one, then lock with the other.

If the door was opened without using the 2nd key the alarm would go off and vehicle would be disabled. I wish this vehicle had been the same way. That's the only issue I have here.

The RCMP Saskatchewan Facebook post has many comments relating to an area of possible sightings. I'm pretty sure I can't talk social media here, but to be honest, if those sightings are legit I don't think many people in the province would be surprised about that area.

I just got notice the Amber alert has been extended to Alberta and Manitoba, that tells me they don't know yet which way the vehicle is headed.
