Human remains found in wooded area in Espanola: OPP

The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police says it is investigating the discovery of human remains in Espanola.

''On April 18, at approximately 11:40 a.m., members of the Manitoulin OPP responded to a call about the discovery of human remains in a wooded area in Espanola.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been determined, police said in a release.
The investigation continues with the assistance of the North East Region Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services, and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.''

Glenn Ward is really about the only likely missing person from the list. He went missing this winter, and could have wandered off the road into the bush. Most of the others disappeared in areas closer to Sudbury, 100 kms east of Espanola.

It's so sad that he was seen with obvious mental health difficulties, walking down the road in the winter, but there was no one to guide him to safety. Queensway Ave, where he was last seen, is just a small road with an active, caring church at one end, and the hospital and the Family Health Team Clinic at the other. Would this have ended more happily if someone could have guided him into one of those doors.
