I have found online the actual parole documents for MR....I haven't read them yet

BBM, excellent point.

I'm going out on a limb here because we don't know anything about what Genn did later Saturday night, but it would also be interesting to check any surveillance videos which may exist from the night clubs to see if he may have been hanging around.

I certainly share your opinion of not believing the suicide explanation.

I tend to think that she probably was not at a night club.I haven't been to one in many, many years but can only assume it would be costly ....and Genna had to get bus fare from her mother to go uptown...JMO.....
Also the halfway house is on Carleton Street.....which is in the uptown area

There was a residency condition that included no leave privileges, so as he must have been in Moncton to have been pronounced deceased there, leaving the city of Saint John would definitely have been one way he violated parole.

Thanks so much for providing the above link, Jillybean51!

It's been a few years since I have been in a night club, too. :)

There has been no confirmation on that what-so-ever; in fact, I'm probably the only one speculating on it.

I remember, though, that if we had a friend uptown who lived within walking distance of the clubs, we would go even if we didn't have much money--or maybe even no money. (As we could walk there and back, and maybe a friend would buy us a drink; or we would have a few drinks before we left and that would do.)

Still, I want to add that I have never heard anyone say that Genn was anywhere on Saturday night but with a friend in the uptown area.

I could be off by a mile, and would be happy to be so.

I mostly hope law enforcement did seize any existing surveillance videos because down the road--if there is ever a trial--something on there could prove valuable. Some of them would have quite a range, if nothing else.

I believe this guy broke his parole in Saint John, transferred back to Dorchester Prison, where he jumped to his death, and then pronounced dead at Moncton hospital.I want to know what he did in Saint John to revoke parole. The document also stated that his first 5 rapes were committed in secluded areas( like the park Genna walked through) ....but I am merely speculating.....
We would also go uptown when we were younger but drinks were ALOT cheaper then.Wish we would hear back on the toxicology report...

Just once again adding Genn's case map created by W/S'er Unscripted.

This has so many interesting points on it that I could look at it all night--thank you for making this, Unscripted.

The highlighting of Carleton Street is done by me on the screen shot and will not appear on the link.

Prayers for Genevieve and for justice someday!

I would like to know what this guy did also. All very hush hush here and no cause for the revoking of his release has been in media.

Hi I'm new here but I've been watching this forum since Genevieve disappeared. There are a few things I'd like to chirp in on.....

There have been a number of sexual offenders released to the Saint John community lately. Also, I have heard rumours of other attempted abductions around the time that Genevieve disappeared. I also know for a fact that of at least one recent murder in Saint John where charges were never laid as the police/crown felt that it could have been suicide (which it definitely was not). I agree with other posters that there very well could be a connection between the three women who were found in or around the Harbour in the past year. Genevieve's death and this possible connection needs to be looked into by police. I feel like it won't happen though since Genevieve is no longer 'big news' and police have pretty much stated that it was suicide. I do not for one second believe this. Her actions the days before her death do not point to this. As a resident of the Saint John area, it terrifies me to think that theire is likely someone out there preying on women and that our police department are not doing anything to bring this person to justice.

:welcome: JanNB! :seeya:

How frustrating, and frightening... That sex offenders have been released into your area... And there have been abductions/suicides... But LE quickly dismisses them as suicides!

another statistic to think of... Since these sex offenders have been released... Haven't there been a disproportionate amount of FEMALES (not males) who die mysteriously?!?

makes me wonder.... A LOT!

Thanks for your post. I have not been following Gen's unfortunate "case" as closely as other fine WSers here, due to RL, but, I agree with what you say here, and also have a strong suspicion.

BBM - Yes, I believe there is a connection, too.

I pray that they are doing more in the background than we realize, but I don't know that that is so.

Once these cases are closed as suicides, I have a nagging suspicion that they never look at them again; but I hope I'm wrong.

Three bodies of petite, young women all disappearing while walking alone and later washing up to shore is hard to ignore--taking into account that these three deaths all happened within a year in a city with an average murder/suicide rate. The public is starting to notice.

BBM - Yes, that is the part that bothers me.

Unfortunately, it is a stinky fact of life that sex offenders have to live in someone's area, and they are in all areas, unless we want to kid ourselves.

When women begin washing up to shore in six month intervals--another type of problem becomes evident, imo.

One of these guys,Robert Roberge apparently moved to Halifax in August,so he can be excluded as far as Gen 's case goes.

There has been nothing in the news since the day of Genevieve's funeral. No word on the forensic report at all. The last real update on what may have happened to Gen was a few days after they recovered her body. The police said they did not suspect foul play. This statement was made before the pathologist's report was complete :what: That makes no sense whatsoever.

I don't know how Gen's family feels about all this but unless they know something that we don't (which is entirely possible) I hope that they pressure the police to thoroughly investigate Gen's death. Not only does she and her family deserve justice, but if there is a predator out there then other women/girls are at risk.:moo:

We are in total agreement, JanNB.

I know Genn's sister came out on Facebook and said that they didn't agree with the media reports stating Genn's death was attributable to suicide, but I think they have just decided to grieve now.

I pray for them, and for the families of the other two ladies, and for any possible future victims.

And even for myself, because I am not so very far away; nor are my loved ones.

Morbid question, but, would evidence of sexual assault be evident after a body had been in the water for days?

I found this 12 page write-up to be informative and calming. After reading #10, I even felt a little less frustrated.

Another one that particularly interested me was "Myth Number Six."

TruTv Crime Library | Serial Killer Myths Exposed by Pat Brown

Myth Number One:
Unless you hear about a serial killer at large in your area, you can assume no serial killers are living in your community.

“The accepted definition of a serial killer is a person who kills at least three times with a cooling off period in between his murders.”

Myth Number Two:
Serial killers are strangers who leap out at you in the night.

“There are two kinds of serial killers as far as the victim is concerned: the kind that you don’t see before the pounce on you and the kind you see and don’t expect to pounce on you. Both kinds can be either someone you know or a stranger.”

Myth Number Three:
The killer always leaves evidence at the scene.

“Then there is the real world. The world where the finger prints found belong to everyone but the killer (including the cops, the emergency medical team and the mayor), the DNA is too minimal to test, and when the firefighters came in to put out the fire used to cover up the murder, they drowned every shred of evidence under a foot of water.”

Myth Number Four:
Serial killers are super clever.

“In reality, serial killers are of average intelligence. Clearly, they never really made use of their brains which explains why most have low level jobs and make poor decisions.”

Myth Number Five:
Serial killers are caught through DNA banks, profiles, and brilliant police deduction.

“DNA banks only work if you have DNA. Then you have to match that DNA to someone. Either that someone must also be in a bank, like a felon DNA bank, or that person must already be a suspect and agree to the testing.
...
Profiles are the stuff television shows are made of.
...
Brilliant police deduction rarely comes into play in the actual capture of serial killers. This is not to say it does not occur but it isn’t like the movies in that the puzzle is not solved by the likes of Sherlock Holmes.”

Myth Number Six:
The victims of a serial killer all look alike.

Since serial killers tend to kill just around the corner from where they live or where they work, the victims are just local folks. The most important issue for the killer is the ability to get a victim easily and successfully. He will therefore choose a place he will blend in well and not be noticed lurking around the community.
...
The one noticeable similarity with almost all serial killer victims is their short height and low weight. Five foot two; eyes of blue should be the serial killer theme song. These small lightweight victims are easy to attack, easy to beat up, easy to carry or drag, easy to put in the trunk of a car, and easy to dispose of.”

Myth Number Seven:
Signature is the mark of a serial killer.

“Signature is extremely rare, and the belief that it commonly exists confuses police investigators and makes for a lot of foolish assumptions.”

Myth Number Eight:
You can link a serial killer to crimes by his MO.

“A serial killer may decide to change from stabbing to strangling because last time he cut himself and he got too much blood in the car. He may decide he wants more time with the victim so he moves from an outside location to an inside location. He may decide to tie up the victim this time because the last one was hard to handle and it really ticked him off.”

Myth Number Nine:
VICAP catches serial killers.

“With the number of serial murders and the difficulties with ever-changing MO and signatures and the added problem of unexpected occurrences at a crime scene (like the rape never happened because someone interrupted the killer or the normal five stabs turns into 50 because the victim mouthed off at him,) how accurate can any of this be? While VICAP may be valuable in retrieving other useful law enforcement information, I have yet to understand how it works in making a major difference in identifying serial killer suspects.”

Myth Number Ten:
Our present methods of catching serial killers work.

“The typical scenario in a serial homicide investigation follows a well trodden path. First, the police try not to let the public know there is a serial killer out there. If they get lucky, there will be only a small paragraph in the local paper and within a short time, everyone will forget about the murder. Then, hopefully the killer will move to another jurisdiction. If he doesn’t stop killing in your jurisdiction, just keep denying that the string of murders in your community are linked.”
