Search warrants executed in body-parts probe, police say ...

Police are executing search warrants in connection with an investigation into body parts found in Toronto and Mississauga in recent days.

Peel Regional Police Const. Fiona Thivierge told CBC News that the investigation is moving forward in both cities.

"There have been search warrants issued and executed in different parts of both regions," Thivierge said ....

I know we won't know until there is an official ID, but, apparently, "Peel police sources" think the victim is a woman missing from Scarborough (at end of blurb, below):

"Body parts belong to GTA victim

Body parts found in the Credit River in south Streetsville and in Scarborough belong to a missing woman from either Toronto or Peel.
Peel Regional Police confirmed tonight that search warrants are being executed at addresses in Toronto and Peel in an effort to find the remaining body parts. So far, a foot, head, two hands, a thigh, an arm and calves have been discovered since last Wednesday.
While Peel Police sources say investigators are focusing on a woman who was reported missing in Scarborough earlier this month as the likely victim, officers are keeping an open mind until forensics positively identifies the body parts. "

Another woman missing from Scarborough since Aug 10th from the Kennedy Road/Huntingwood area. She is older but petite and has tattooed eyebrows.

OMG this area is just North of the Tam O'Shanter Gold course where the remains were found in Scarborough!

I don’t believe this young woman, Bin Ling Qiu (23 years old), missing since August 1st has been located yet: http://www.torontopolice.on.ca/newsreleases/release.php?id=24200

ETA: Bin Ling Qui was last seen at Birchmount and Finch in Scarborough which is a 4 minute drive from where the body parts were found at West Highland Creek in Scarborough (Kennedy & Boris). Is it possible that the perp would dump certain not so identifiable body parts in Scarborough and then dispose the head, hand and feet in Mississauga — further away?

What's puzzling about these women is Bin Ling Qui 23 and Guang Hua Liu 41 are both listed together here:

OK EVEN MORE CRAZY is this guy arrested August 10th the same day Guang vanished....OMG i feel sick today.

I'm not sure how reliable this is, but:
it seems feom this Facebook update that Melissa Keeble has been found -- happily, I hope:

So if it's not MK, it may be Guang Hua Liu who has been found. Tarabull, I think sadly this might be really important info you have found above.....

Additional info on this recently arrested in TO Kai-Guo Huang:

snipped...Huang is wanted for the murder of Hoi Yan, 27. WPIV reports Yan's dismembered body was found in various trash receptacles in neighbouring New Jersey in July 1998. Police went to the Philadelphia Chinatown restaurant where Yan had previously worked and found knives and a meat cleaver covered with blood. The two owners of the restaurant had disappeared and it is believed one of the owners was the man arrested in Toronto.

Reports indicate the victim may have been a member of an Asian gang who was extorting the owners of the restaurant.

snipped...Before his arrest, Huang was allegedly living a double life under the name Yu Chen, evading search efforts by the FBI.

Huang arrived in Canada from China as a refugee claimant in 2006. Using the fake name, he eventually became a permanent resident.

He owned a condo near Pharmacy and Finch, also under the fake name, where he lived and collected rent money from tenants.

I think you may be on to something with this. Thank you.

I do not believe for a second that this is a LRM copycat. The ONLY thing in common is the dismemberment, and unfortunately, that happens all the time. Makes disposal easier (or in LRM's case, allows him to mail the parts to places that would produce the most shock. That was a shock-murder. This doesn't appear to be). :moo:

I reckon that this is either connected to this Huang person, or it is a domestic murder (disgruntled husband/boyfriend). :moo:

I thought we'd have an identification by now! Maybe LE is having difficulties locating the next of kin?

Wow, this is really picking up steam now. Great job finding that info Tarabull! I too think you're onto something there. It's just too coincidental.

It's a good sign LE were asking the motel owner about a specific person who checked in. Hopefully that means they have some decent leads. That also makes me wonder if the victim was in the sex trade industry (not trying to paint the victim in a bad light, just looking at all angles).

Good catch! Also from CP24 on August 13th:

"Philadelphia police say they believe Huang, while in the company of his brother, stabbed 28-year-old Hoi Yang in the basement of a restaurant in the city’s Chinatown district on July 27, 1998. They say he then decapitated him and dumped his head and torso in two separate dumpsters in Pemberton County, N.J. before disappearing."

I just read in the forum on Facebook to find Mila Johnson that they will be announcing the name of the victim on CP-24 at noon. I'll see if I can find a link for that.

If LE is on the right trail, then we may not be; according to one of the stories above, police are looking into a man who checked into and out of a hotel on Saturday, the day the Scarborough remains were located. Kai-Guo Hoang could not be that man; he is a US fugitive awaiting extradition after his arrest and known flight risk, so he wouldn't have been released from custody:

"The hotel owner said police asked him about someone who checked into the room Saturday, the day human remains were found in the West Highland Creek, near Kennedy Road and Sheppard Avenue East and not far from the hotel.

I wonder where someone’s brother was on Saturday?

I know Kai-Guo Huang has a brother, also implicated in the 1998 murder, who is still at large -- so that could be one explanation. But the more I read about the Philly case, the less I think it applies here, particularly in relation to new info coming out. If LE is NOT barking up the wrong tree, and if, as reports from the Credit River findings, at least, suggest, the remains at the first site have been in the area for a (small) period of time before finding, then I don't undertsand why some remains would have been held for a time OR why the perp would be "visiting" the remains at the second site unless there was some fetish-element attached. My understanding of the Huang dismemberment case is that it may have been attached to gang crime/extortion, retaliation or fear/defence. The murdered man was decapitated but, by all reports, otherwise the body was intact. I'm not sure this recent atrocity fully fits the MO. I guess we'll learn more at noon today.

lol, Unscripted, I was posting at the exact moment you were posting....
But IF the Scarborough findings were "freshly" placed but the Peel ones were not, why would a perp "hang on" to the remaining parts for weeks, unless there is some grotesque fascination with parts? A crime of passion or gang-violence "message" crime would likely, IMO, lead a perp to dump the evidence as quickly as possible, even if 2 different sites were selected. Conversely, if the Mississauga parts were resting as long as those in peel, why would the perp return to the area unless, again, because of some deep psychological fascination to visit the remains? I know there's the old saying about returning to the scene of thr crime generally, but I'm thinking especially of the "sexual component" / "trophy" in Audrey Gleave's murder, and wondering if this could be serial work, escalating over time. Honestly, I don't know. Maybe that's (overly) dramatic. It's hard not to put the worst spin on things like this in response to the sheer horror of the details.

Other ideas? I just hope the police ARE on the right trail.

Hopefully during their PC scheduled for the noon hour, they will also tell us who the suspect is. He's still on the loose, right?
