Found Deceased Canada - Holly Ellsworth-Clark, 27, Hamilton ON, 11 Jan 2020

Update from the official Holly Clark Search page -

Feb 24, 2021
Good Morning All!
I know a number of you are still with us and hoping for information about Holly. We are still awaiting some final information from the coroner's office to be released to us. I feel it's important to reiterate our stance on the information we provide.
We assumed Holly would be found alive. As such, we were careful about the words we chose, the information we provided and how we provided it, to all parties. The reason for this, is because if she was found alive, it would be her story to tell. Not ours.
As time went on, we provided a little more insight and information to assist in finding our girl. This approach is taken for one reason in particular.
If she was met with foul play, we do not want to jeopardize a potential prosecution.
The more information and inflammatory words that are public knowledge, makes it much harder for a crown prosecutor to do their job and prove that the random theories are not true.
We continue to keep this policy until we have more information and the family is satisfied with the outcome. Once we have the information needed, Dave and the family will review it and make a determination about how much or how little information we share.
I'm going to be blunt. This is a thin line we walk with the information we have given and haven't. It's not an easy role to be in and it's certainly not one that I would wish on anybody. Please, bear with us and know that the decisions we've made during the search and after, are all thought out and decided with the utmost care and attention.
Be well, stay safe and take care of one another.
"You got a lotta love, with you now."
~ Holly Clark

What Holly Ellsworth-Clark’s final autopsy revealed

...more than a year after the 27-year-old’s mysterious disappearance her family and friends believe her death was an accident.
...
Because of how long her body had been in the water there was no way to tell when she died. The cause of death is unknown, but there is also no sign of injury. She had no drugs in her system.
...
“We believe, now, that her death was most likely an accident brought on by part of an effort to heal herself,” [Holly's father] said.

Holly was brave and had taken plunges in cold water before, he said. At the time she went missing she had also started practising a meditative breathing technique developed by extreme athlete Wim Hof that is intended to keep your body warm in the cold. The prevailing theory for her family and close friends is that she was practising this breathing and then jumped in the water, holding her breath, and could have passed out.

I am just re-looking at this sad case after a long time. I had always been sure it was a mental health issue, probably bipolar emerging having been misdiagnosed initially as anxiety. However, having found out about the security cameras in her home I am not sure anymore. I find it chilling, both that there were cameras at all and that nobody is acting like it's a problem. And the fact that the landlord didn't hand footage over right away? This is a big red flag for me. I don't know about Canada, I admit, but I am willing to bet that in my country putting cameras, and so many that they require their own 'control room', in a rented property is illegal. We let out several houses and would never consider it. Sorry if I am missing a cultural nuance here but to me it seems legitimately psychopathic. And then it transpires Holly was trying to destroy them? That really freaks me out. How has the landlord not been investigated?!
Welcome to Ws EmMaBu, you raise some great points about the cameras!
Not a common or acceptable practice, maybe they were set up to record music sessions? imo.

Hey, @EmMaBu and @dotr,

This is one of the cases that I followed at the time, watched the thread but did not take a deep dive after the body was discovered. I spent some hours reading about it today.

Regarding the cameras, what I read is that the home owner had episodes of vandalism inside the home and that is the explanation for the cameras. I do find it weird he didn't provide more footage but we really don't know what he provided apart from what was released to the public. I mean, those images of Holly close to the main door inside the house.

I find Holly's music so good and this is a perfect morning to play again!
