''Police say construction workers found human bones during home renovations in The Annex.
Construction workers were excavating the ground under a property on Brunswick Avenue, south of Dupont Street when they found the bones, police said.

"We don't know if there was something suspicious involved," police said, adding that the property is approximately 140 years old.

Police said a test would be performed to determine how old the bones are.''

“We don’t know if something suspicious is involved”—I wondered if there were signs of a coffin.

Many remains from the 1800s from cemeteries in Toronto were moved to make room for expansion. The Yonge & Bloor area used to be a Potter’s Field where over 6000 people were buried. They moved the remains-but likely some are still there.

Not the same area but a possible explanation:

“When the subway was put through, all that cemetery was dug up and carted out, and dumped on the Leslie Street Spit,” she said. “So there are several thousand burials, burial parts, body parts, disturbed graves, [and] disturbed bodies in the Leslie Street Spit.”

''Kwong said the bones were determined to be decades old and did not make up an entire human skeleton.

"The investigation is very preliminary right now. The main things officers are going to be doing is protect the scene, get evidence, and determine if the scene is anthropological, misfortune or criminal," he said.

"If it happens to be criminal, then it will involve homicide. If it's misfortune, like a missing person, it will involve the missing persons unit. If it's anthropological, then it is what it is."

He said investigators will be tracing ownership of the house, as well as determining whether any building permits were taken out to do excavations in the area in the past.

No one was living inside the home at the time.''

Toronto police probing discovery of human bones at Annex house
''According to Const. Victor Kwong, the gruesome discovery was made at approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

He said police received a call for a “suspicious incident” at 410 Brunswick Ave., just north of Barton Avenue.''

Maybe author Margaret Atwood might!

Why Is Margaret Atwood Arguing About Housing On Twitter? - CityLab
''In 2017, the Annex is a highly desirable, wealthy neighborhood of mostly Victorian detached or semi-detached homes on large, green lots.

Those who moved to the area in the 1960s and ‘70s, when the housing was more affordable, now find themselves sitting on a goldmine, thanks to skyrocketing Toronto property values.''

Belle Of The Ball On Brunswick Avenue In The Annex - Urbaneer - Toronto Real Estate, Blog, Condos, Homes
''Can you imagine enmeshing yourself in such a community, where your own roots contribute to this sense of history and good taste? And what if your home was an extension of that divine combination of rich history and rich visuals? Owning a piece of a neighbourhood that originally housed Toronto's wealthiest residents, that has evolved with its own momentum over the years to be "the" epicentre of urban cool is an exciting prospect. Even though this multi-unit residence is ready for a refresh, this merchant class residence retains much of its original architectural elegance.
Welcome to 410 Brunswick Avenue
