Woman shot outside Mississauga bar was innocent bystander: investigators
July 19, 2019
"Investigators say a 24-year-old London Ont. woman struck by an errant bullet and killed in the parking lot of a Mississauga bar earlier this month was just out having a good time with her friends when a gunman showed up and opened fire on another man.

Peel Regional Police Insp. Martin Ottaway said Jackline Keji Gore was standing in the parking lot of Fume Bar and Lounge on Torbram Road at 2:48 a.m. on July 8, when a crossover-style vehicle pulled into the lot and a hooded gunman got out.

“A suspect approached a group of men standing by the doors to thebar and the suspect started shooting at one of the men, who then fled through parking lot,” Ottaway said. The suspect continued to shoot at him as he fled.”

"Keji Gore’s parents stood near the podium during a press conference Friday morning but both were too distraught to speak.

Their daughter was a York University basketball player who Swaka said was loved by her family and respected in her community."

"Ottaway said anyone with information should call police at 905-453-2121, ext. 3205."

"He added that anyone who was driving in the area of Torbram and Derry Roads from 1 a.m. that morning until 3 a.m. and has dashcam video or other media from their vehicle should offer it up to investigators"

‘WORST NIGHTMARE’: Family pleads for help catching innocent victim’s killer
"Jackline Keji Gore was a talented high school basketball star with her whole life ahead of her after earning a university scholarship — first at York before moving to Western — to study psychology.

Instead, the 24-year-old from London, Ont., who was also worked at a bank and a restaurant post-university, was shot down in front of a Mississauga bar on July 8, an innocent bystander in what police are calling “a heinous act.”

Now her family and friends — mother Mary Wani, father David Gore, cousin James Swaka and community leader Alfred Rombe — are asking whoever killed her to surrender to cops and urging the public to “speak up for Jackline.”

"The family’s grief is still so fresh that they left without taking any questions from reporters after Swaka delivered his brief statement.

Homicide Insp. Martin Ottaway told the media Keji Gore, whose death marked the region’s 10th murder of the year, had responded to a social media invitation to a birthday party on July 7 at Fume Bar and Lounge at Torbram and Drew Rds.

She and other friends exited the bar and were talking in the parking lot when a masked gunman wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt approached a group of men near the bar’s front door at 2:38 a.m. and opened fire.

A single bullet hit and killed her."

This is a sad story. Such a beautiful young woman. Certainly there are people that know who the shooter is, but they aren't likely to roll over without serious incentive.

''The rewards pertain to the unsolved murders of 24-year-old Jackline Gore, who was struck by an errant bullet in the parking lot of a Mississauga bar in 2019, and 19-year-old Raneilia Richards, another innocent bystander who was fatally shot in front of a Mississauga nightclub last New Year’s Eve.

Police previously said Gore was standing in the parking lot of Fume Bar and Lounge on Torbram Road in the early morning hours of July 8, 2019, when she was shot. According to police, a vehicle pulled into the lot and a hooded gunman got out. The suspect, police said, approached a group of men standing by the doors of the bar and started shooting at one of the men.

Gore, a resident of London, Ont., was struck by a bullet and later pronounced dead.''

''At around 2:40 a.m. on July 8, 2019, the Western University student had just exited a party at Fume Bar and Lounge on Torbram Rd. just north of Derry Rd.
Det. Stephen Nickson said she was in the parking lot making arrangements to return home when a gunfight broke out nearby.
A masked gunman wearing a grey hoodie approached the bar’s front entrance and opened fire.
The rewards will be formally announced during a news conference on Monday morning at Peel Regional Police headquarters.''

'A $100,000 reward has been offered for information leading investigators to the suspects in the shooting deaths of Richards and 24-year-old Jackline Gore.'

''Gore was not the intended target of the suspect, who arrived in the area in a vehicle. Police said the suspect approached a group of men standing by the doors of the bar and started shooting at one of them.''

''In July, when they announced the $100,000 reward, police said they had not found evidence linking the two shootings, saying only that the circumstances are similar.''

''On July 8, 2019, Jackline Gore spent her evening at the Fume Bar and Lounge, located at the intersection of Torbram Road and Drew Road in Mississauga. She was there to celebrate a friend’s birthday.''

''During the early morning hours, approximately between 2:30 a.m. and 2:40 a.m., Gore was with a group of people who exited the bar. She was chatting with some friends in the parking lot when an armed suspect began firing at a group of males near the front door of the Fume Bar and Lounge.''

''The sound of gunshots rang out as the suspect attempted to shoot the male patron while aggressively pursuing him. One of the stray bullets fired by the unknown suspect struck Gore and killed her. She was 24 years old.''

''Gore played varsity basketball during her tenure at both York University and Western University. At the time of the incident, she had graduated from school and was working at a bank full-time.''
