''Langley RCMP have confirmed the grey Dodge Grand Caravan that a missing 82-year-old woman was last seen driving, was found on a remote service road, far from where she lives.

Jane Whitehouse was last seen leaving her home in Aldergrove to run errands around 10 a.m. Friday.

When she didn't return home, her family reporter her missing.

Two days later, Agassiz RCMP revealed that her van was discovered.''

Authorities have paused the search for a senior who went missing from B.C.’s Lower Mainland last week, as her loved ones grapple with the gut-wrenching uncertainty surrounding her disappearance.

“We are all questioning why the vehicle is there, because it’s not a location that she would normally be found in,” said Melanie Sora, a family friend.

On Tuesday, Langley RCMP released a new image of Whitehouse showing her in a distinctive green jacket, which she was wearing at the time of her disappearance. Authorities hope that jacket could jog someone’s memory about seeing her since her disappearance on Oct. 25.

Image: Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue / Search and rescue units and personnel search an area around Harrison East Forest Service Road this week in hopes of locating a missing 82-year-old woman.
“Family Update: The search at East Harrison Lake Forest Service Road has been suspended. The area has been combed for 3 days with no results,” Sora wrote. “The investigation is still very much active but we need more tips and leads to work with. We are still hopeful and grateful for everyone’s compassion and concern. Any information, sightings, videos/images, no matter how insignificant they seem, would be appreciated.”

Does not seem like an elderly woman would try to drive through that on her own if she were alone and in her right mind.

If she isn’t subject to dementia, I’d suspect the car was driven there by someone else or at least she was coerced to drive there. Or, if she is a victim of dementia, she suffered some extreme sudden disorientation. Either of these would me she could be anywhere.

Moo... Looks like someone took the vehicle and went bush bombing with it. Unless she does on occasion like to drive logging roads?...I know my 80yr mother would never leave the main roads, she cherishes here vehicle. I'm in my 60s and do drive logging roads. But it's for the dogs and I have a 4x4. With this weather it's more of a worry of trees coming down. Which is why people stay off the back roads...moo

A family spokesperson says:

“a few possible sightings have been reported, but nothing has been confirmed.”

also

“a pair of shoes were found, but said they could be the spares that Whitehouse would keep in the van with her.”

I wonder if she was using some kind of navigation app for directions and it gave her wrong directions that lead her to where the van was found? I've heard of many cases over the years of this happening to people, they're given bad/incorrect directions and end up way out in the boonies but 120 km away from her home?? That's extreme. Has there been any mention of what was left in her van when it was found.......keys? wallet? purse? phone? Has her phone been pinged?

There was an atmospheric river on the west coast around this time, major washout and flash flooding...FWIW.

This may have played a roll in Jane's disappearance. MOO.

I had to look it up.

Atmospheric river

An atmospheric river (AR) is a narrow corridor or filament of concentrated moisture in the atmosphere. Other names for this phenomenon are tropical plume, tropical connection, moisture plume, water vapor surge, and cloud band.Wikipedia

LANGLEY, B.C. — Mounties in Langley, B.C., say the body of an 82-year-old woman has been found several months after she went missing.

I really feel like the initial search was inadequate and called off too soon. Was there any call for the public to help with the search along Harrison? I don't recall there being one, but I might be wrong. Friday (the day she went missing) until Sunday (the day the van was found), the rain was heavy, and the temperature was cooler. Too cold for an older lady in soaking wet clothing. Realistically, by the time the van was found, it wasn’t likely she would be found alive, but I still don’t understand why a more extensive search wasn’t conducted. By Monday the weather really wasn’t that bad and the terrain up there really isn't that bad either. I’m not just speculating about the weather or the terrain. I was up there the week following her disappearance. It’s a really pretty area that time of year. This may be a good example of why you stay put if you get yourself lost. I’m saddened she decided to leave her van. :(

My heart goes out to the family
