Well a poor little girl is without a mom or a dad now. I'll keep checking for a media update on this. Friends are posting that her body was found and that the ex confessed. Thanks for the updates, Hazel and Ella. So sad.

I wonder what is happening because I also saw on her facebook page that she has been found but the following article says that the OPP is now involved (since Wednesday evening) and she has not been found. What do you make of this?

City police announced Wednesday night they have called in the Ontario Provincial Police for a joint investigation into the disappearance of Joanne MacKenzie, 23, of Apsley.
MacKenzie was last seen at 9 a.m. Saturday on Rubidge St.
After what city police said was an extensive search and public appeal for help, the Peterborough County OPP was called in to conduct a joint investigation.
OPP Det. Insp. Kari Dart is leading the investigation.

Hmmm...this is breaking article. I wonder what's going on? I'll keep looking too. Thanks Patience.

I can never understand why a "parent" turns on another parent like this? Do they never stop to think that when they are caught that both parents are now gone from the child?

So sad.

I can tell you one thing. The Peterborough Police did a great job bringing the OPP into it quickly, and there were alot more than 4 LE on the case.

Sgt Rae and team, were the members that caught Williams.

It is a good thing their expertise was consulted, because they are probably an elite, mobilized unit, specializing in these types of cases. I would guess that many local LE Dept.'s really don't have a lot of experience with abduction cases (thankfully).

Great job LE in catching the creep before he bolted or harmed anyone else.

Also, LE must have had an eyewitness or video to her being forcefully taken (speculation on my part). Look at the sentence bolded below:

OPP Sergeant Kristine Rae says OPP detachment members along with their detectives are now on the case.

"Investigators are out attempting to speak to anyone who may have information that might help us find her."

She says that means police are following up on information they have received.

Sgt. Rae says the disappearance has been deemed suspicious because there's information the investigators have that indicates Ms MacKenzie's disappearance was not of her own free will.

"Until we can locate her we are launching a full investigation with the two police services," she said earlier this week. "The fact that she has not been located, that means a great deal to us. But things need to be followed up and people that need to be spoken to. Our first and primary goal is to locate her."

Police say they found evidence on Tuesday that something criminal had happened and that MacKenzie may have left the city limits, which is why they called provincial police to help with the investigation.

Both forces continue to work on the case.

Police have cordoned off an area near Young’s Point Rd. at Preston Rd., and said human remains have been found in the area

Thanks, Dotr for the link.

I wonder what LE found on TUESDAY?

I wonder if there is any truth to his rumored story of being jumped, and if that relates to this statement?

(Any social media accounts for the perp?)

Ross said the investigation is still in its early stages. He couldn’t say whether more arrests are expected.

Two separate crime scenes:

OPP Const. Iain McEwan said police were maintaining two separate crime scenes in that area of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield Township.

One of those scenes included a property where there's a bungalow-style house.

McEwan could not say how the house may be involved in the investigation, or even how MacKenzie arrived in Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield Township.

He said police couldn’t even confirm that the body found was that of MacKenzie.

Police have cordoned off an area near Young’s Point Rd. at Preston Rd., and said human remains have been found in the area.

OPP Communications Insp. Dave Ross said investigators are still waiting the results of a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

He said police also still have to make a positive identification of the body found near Younghttp://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143169&page=3’s Point Rd.

Haven't checked FB again, but it was posted days ago that she was found Tuesday on his property (or perhaps they meant area around his or his mom's property?). I looked on Google maps for the address given in the news articles, and the area is 30 minutes north of the Tim H. That area appears to be outside Lakeview/Peterborough, so must be the OPP's jurisdiction (perhaps that is why they were called? IDK).
If we put this info together with what Ella posted days ago, we can kinda guess how things went. There was other info posted on FB, but since LE doesn't want to reveal details, I guess is best not to post it here.
There is now a post stating the ex confessed this AM, but wouldn't tell where, they found her until they ofound her. It was over custody according to FB poster.
