Kai's aunt is posting. It looks like his father died of Covid.

I found Kai's mother's blog/website from the time she lived in Europe. Kai is about 5 years old in the pictures. His father also had a yt channel with a few videos of him, at a similar age. They seem like normal caring people.

Did Kai go to school? When was he last seen there? What about the mother's neighbors? Did they see him? LE must have some answers already.

Why does the caretaker not come forward to police?

How hard is it to put your child in front of a camera and show his worried relatives on both sides of the family that he is OK? Unless you want to cut them off and/or your are afraid they would take him away. Why?

I hope his parents aren't hiding him from the Canadian version of the CPS. Since LE are interested in his after school activities, he may have been homeschooled in Canada, so it would be more difficult to establish when he went to the caretaker. At least there are pictures of him online taken this year.

Please bear with me, but... I don't understand anything here.

Boy hasn't been seen since the end of September. The caretaker is not known to the police. The police don't know where the caretaker is, and the situation is still not critical enough for an Amber Alert to be issued. What am I missing there? I guess the mother is not the caretaker?

PS. I read somewhere that the father died, and his family is in Christchurch, NZ. They reached out to the mother and stepfather, who are living in BC. People speculate that Kai is somewhere safe with a caregiver, not going to school, but participating in extracurricular activities...

If the father's family is in New Zealand, and the father's family became concerned about Kai's wellbeing, it doesn't make sense that the father's family shared their concern with the NZ family if they are the NZ family.

The only way I can make sense of it is that the father's family lives in BC, they have been unable to contact Kai for 12 months, they became concerned, and they contected the mother's famiy in New Zealand.

Contrary to my early post, his father's family isn't in NZ but in Europe (his last name could be taken as a hint).

The father has a European last name, but if we search that name in BC obituaries, we know that one branch of the family is in BC.

Pavlovic isn't an uncommon surname in southeastern Europe, so they might not be related.

And are there any siblings. The very first picture of Kai shows him touching a young baby. Is this a sibling?

And I really do believe that this particular picture with the baby shows him as older than many of the other pictures posted.

obviously I state moo... until this is clarified. But all these various locations DO need to be clarified.

I have found obituaries for Canadians with that last name (Pavlovic) in BC, Alberta and Ontario, so I'm guessing that that Kai's father's family lives in BC. Kai has gone missing in BC.

It doesn't add up that the deceased father's family lives in New Zealand, and the deceased father's family contacted other New Zealand relatives for help regarding a missing 11 year old in Canada.

The only parties that should be involved are the families of Kai's mother and father. If Kai's deceased father's family lives in BC, then it makes sense that they would reach out to the mother's family (presumably in New Zealand) for help to locate Kai.

No. Maternal relatives are in NZ and paternal in Europe. I dug into fb a little.

If I were sure it was him, I'd post the obituary (it's more like a notice). There isn't much detail, only birth and death dates and place of burial. It also states that he died after a short illness. Funeral attendance was very restricted back then due to Covid rules. His last fb post is from less than two months earlier.
