The property is on Highway 329 close to the intersection of Highway 158.

Provincial police are on the scene after receiving a 911 call at 1 p.m. from a citizen about the discovery.

Investigators with the Sûreté du Québec's homicide unit are en route to the property.

“Medical evidence is needed to identify the body, and it could take a few weeks,” said SQ spokesperson Sgt. Claude Denis. He added that it was impossible to tell whether the bones were those of a man or a woman.

Denis said he was not in a position to confirm a report in La Presse that the bones were found in poured concrete inside a barrel.

The newspaper cited a police source, and also reported that the remains could be those of a man who disappeared in the 1980s.
