On Friday, July 1, 2005 at about 3:00 p.m., Flanagan left her cottage to paddle her canoe around Hall's Lake. She was seen by neighbours and appeared to be alone in the canoe. A search located her canoe washed up on the east side of the lake. A further search of the lake failed to locate her.
