Jeff lied about that though, as he has a multitude of things. Her dad has done nothing but muddy the picture sadly.
You think he lied about who he suspects? Or other facts?

I've read his blog, but haven't in a few years. I used to read it all the time hoping a break would happen.

I am frustrated this case hasn't been solved. I am foggy on details and can't remember what DNA they got from this crime. Now with familial DNA being used to solve crimes, I wonder if it could happen here.

I'm Canadian but no idea if we are using that technology here or not, I've seen in US but unsure we use it here.

He seems like an (understandably) broken man since her death, and has so much anger and sorrow that he just seems to lash out and can’t be expected to look at things objectively.

From my vantage point, Saanich PD haven’t exactly inspired confidence from the beginning, and this has only made things worse for Jeff.
Idaho 4 murder victim kaylee goncalves' dad I think is in danger of ending up like this.

I have followed this case from the beginning and I believe it was one of two situations.

#1: Lindsay was murdered because she was suspected of having been a drug informant. Lindsay did have “associates” who were involved in a drug operation that suffered a major bust shortly before her murder. Her friends, family and law enforcement have denied she had any involvement in any trafficking but we can hardly believe everything were are told, and, even if she was “uninvolved”, criminals can still make mistakes. Leo Beltran and his sister roughly fit the description of the killers but it pretty generic and that doesn’t mean a lot. Interesting theory but nothing to get an indictment.

#2 Lindsay was victim of a “thrill killing” by a total stranger that was sexually motivated. The killer, who presumably got his partner to help him, identified a young, attractive realtor and set up perfect conditions for a murder that would not be traceable to him. “Stabbing” is a common sexual fantasy as it is combines penetrative action with killing. With out direct sexual contact or ejaculation, no DNA would be transferred. If someone wanted to carry out a “scene” to fulfill this fantasy, they planned it very well and got lucky. There is no particular evidence supporting this possibility, it is a default option if no other motive is identified.

The primary evidentiary difference between #1 and #2 would be the actual extent of the stabbings and there location. In #1, we would expect a business like approach with enough to insure death but no messy overkill that would get more blood on the assailant (s) than necessary. In #2, we would expect far more wounds, likely directed at the breasts and genitalia; possibly in a deliberate pattern. Information regarding there stab wounds has not been disclosed. From sources that claim to be privy to inside information, I have read that there were “a lot of stab wounds” but not enough to be obvious overkill. That doesn’t say much.

For your theory #1 do you think killer(s) set up JZ/SZ then to show up there also as a distraction and draw attention to them? Why go that extra mile?

Also to keep in mind - it seems the way she was murdered was personal. I think it's a mix of both - connected to bad people/drugs/criminals in some way but there is also a personal element.

She could've been killed in so many other places to seem random. For a killer to go through so much detailed (almost over the top details IMO) planning and bring in the real estate element and have that knowledge is what makes this not seem cartel/drug dealer hit to me. MOO

I am still open minded that another woman (not SZ even) was involved.

The planning and details, the insane amount of random details involved with this just feels "female" to me. Someone who worked in real estate or knew it well from a friend, family or partner. Someone who had a personal reason, was done wrong, grudge, jealousy, resentment, rage, etc.

I think of a Jodi Arias type but fixation on LB and build up to 'make her pay' for something....

EXCEPT the only thing that throws me off that is isn't a lone killer, this person got recruitment to help. So trusted people, not hired. Would have to be family?

There was at least 2 (decoys at the door) or 2 or 3 if murderer was already waiting/hiding upstairs or in closet.

It feels cartellish, I’d say.

They would use a gun and not jump through involving the real estate hoops, no?

My impression - cartel don't throw in all the bells and whistles, wigs/costumes, fake accents, prior calls, etc. They just plain execute and get it done. No fooling around.

This was loooong planning, months before. Over the top elaborate in a way. Beyond pre-meditated... Like the planner obsessed about every detail for a long time. All MOO JMO of course

Cartels certainly have lots of guns in Mexico and they spend months/years training hitmen. But the hitmen are very low level gang members. The cartel leaders are not the ones using guns...

Plus, in places like Mexico, police are not going to try to identify weapons, develop ballistic evidence, offer rewards for information that could be claimed by the person who sold the weapon, etc. In Canada, policing is at a whole different level of investigation...

Also, if this crime was, as suggested, perpetrated by a leader of the smuggling group, he may not have even wanted to have possession of a gun, it's risky in Canada - any kind of roadside stop or search of his home could send him to jail and then to being deported.

The theory suggests this killer was not a hitman, he was not acting on someone's else's orders.

Rather, as the behind-the-scenes leader, he possibly saw her (mistakenly) as a personal threat to his safety and wealth, and also her murder would serve as an example to others, to not implicate him in the smuggling operation.

I don't think I've encountered any statements that police ever identified or arrested the leader of this particular smuggling gang...so in that sense, perhaps the murder had it's desired result.

JMO

I have been following the case from the beginning also, it is frustrating that it hasn't been solved.
Lindsay's dad has been fighting for justice for a long time, but kept hitting the wall😢

I do have my opinion about the perpetrators - looks like execution on request of someone really close. My opinion after listening and reading everything possible including Lindsay's dad interviews.

Has anyone seen "Reptile" from 2023 with Justin Timberlake, Benicio del Toro and Alicia Silverstone? I SWEAR when I watched it I was sure it was inspired by Lindsay's story. I even went online straight away to see if I'm the only one. There was a post on Reddit about it so it wasn't just me. I had a thought that maybe Jeff (dad) was trying to send a message and has done it with help of some Hollywood allies? Sounds crazy, but that is what you can think watching it and knowing deep down what he likely thinks happened.
If you are interested in this case, watch it, very interesting. It kinda tells who I think has done it... JMO.

I never post, I was always "the watcher" reading websleuths every night for years... Well it might change now.

BTW what caught my attention at the beginning was the surname. In polish "buziak" means "kiss".

Poor Lindsay and her Dad Jeff😔.

I have heard something about this and that movie as well. I will definitely have to watch it now, thanks for posting! :)

I bounced around from theory to theory over the years - the Z's, then a female real estate friend/acquaintance, the drug/cartel associations/local gangsters, etc. Still unsure what to think most days.

I think LE maybe can't make an arrest if conspirators aren't in the country and hands are tied. So frustrating for Jeff and Lindsay's family/friends and the city of Victoria/Saanich. This case is fairly local to me and it still irks me there is no justice.

There's a link in this thread to a much more in depth summary about everything he's lied about. I recommend reading it. The case the internet got wrong

He lied about a lot of things. For one, he claimed Lindsay left him a letter that said she saw something she shouldnt have, yet he can't produce said letter. In fact, he told an admin on his site "that faux letter is certainly bothering some isn't it?" basically admitting he made the whole thing up. Those same admins would eventually quit because they stated they knew he was making a lot more stuff up all in hopes of proving his theory, which was largely baseless. Once they quit, Jeff contacted one of their family members and said that former admin was "involved in something very dangerous"...and they took it as a threat.

He also admitted to police he made a false confession to her murder online and alluded to a man named Ross Addicott.

He worked with the Casefiles podcast for the case, and basically wrote the script...refusing to let the show do it unless they went with his theories and "set of facts" which really shines a bad light on Casefiles.

There's other people who have been openly critical of Jeff for his muddying up the investigation. And he in turn, tracked some of these people down..one of them who was even posting anonymous...and then called that persons spouse's supervisor and coworkers and accused the said critic of being involved in the murder. He also went after one reporter and told her he hope she got bad publicity and more.

A true crime blogger/retired RCMP detective emailed him and introduced himself, offering to help. Before they even got into corresponding much, Jeff randomly showed up at his house unannounced and uninvited and basically began telling him the "real story". When this detective said he didnt believe everything Jeff was saying, he went home angrily and began referring to the former officer as "pee collector" because he had worked in drug and alcohol testing.

Why do you think that might be? Certainly it can't be on purpose?

I remember listening to that podcast not long after it came out, and - just based on my reading of local coverage over the years - felt it was very distorted. I just assumed they did really bad research.

I also always wondered why no other members of Lindsay's family ever appeared with Jeff.

Lindsay's mother and sister lived in Victoria and were close to her, yet they've never associated themselves with Jeff's campaign.

"The internet speculation, the sensationalization, the misinformation and the defamation linked to Lindsay’s passing are all so negative while Lindsay herself was such a bright light of positivity and joy,” Reitmayer (Lindsay's mother) wrote in a statement following her interview with Capital Daily. “It’s all so unnecessary and has made an horrific situation even worse."
