The sparse population and relatively short distance is what makes me think they could be related. Or maybe murders are common in that region?

Just like anywhere else, the north country is not immune from crime.

News | Royal Canadian Mounted Police

The two crimes may be related, or may not be. The summertime is when all the adventurous spirits head north because of the warm weather and long daylight. The rest of the year does not attract outsiders because of the darkness and long winters.

Do we need a thread for them? What say you?

Should it go under Crimes in the News for a murder or Missing for the 2 missing kids? :confused:o_O

The two young men from Port Alberni, BC were travelling from the Yukon, the double murder victims were travelling to the Yukon. All were sleeping in their vehicles to cut costs. I think it's very unusual that these incidents are so close together in terms of time and location.

The teens were last seen at 3:15 on Thursday, and something is very wrong the following day. Did something happen in the middle of the night? Their vehicle was found burning, so the suspect was very close when the truck was discovered.

Wait and see maybe. Hopefully they'll be found.

I got to say I’m a tad skeptical of news reports coming from Australia. How do these reporters know the person they’re speaking with, from across the ocean, is sharing legitimate information?

The Nine Network has affiliates all over the world. The stories very well could have been vetted by their own people on location, and not only from across the globe.

If it looks like the same suspect, it will be easier to discuss the one suspect with multiple victims in one place.

It seemed like they were tweeting info that was covered in other news video.

It's more than obvious that this is where the van was parked when the police arrive. Crime scene tape is clearly visible.

Here's a new photo of the van after it has been removed from the site, and it's a rear shot.

Here it says, "Police took 3 days to identify the couple due to the horrific nature of their injuries"

So I have to believe when the person that found her describes her as a beautiful young lady then he is talking more about who she was from pictures. I think this statement also shows that it wasn't decomposition that is making an open casket not an option but from the injuries themselves.

Killer ‘still on the loose’ with headstart

Thank-you. Are those red evidence marker flags at the rear of the van?

This one is in my head badly. Reminds me of too many cold cases I once followed.

Horrific nightmare for their loved ones

I think it’s weird that the missing teens are said to each weigh approximately “169 lbs” by all the news outlets. Random, but still odd. IMO

Their ID was taken and they were only able to ID because she hid her passport in the van, which LE eventually found.

If these are indeed related...count me in for a yes...then seems he's leaving a directional trail of crimes to pursue, hopefully.

that has to be wrong, she is like 5"7 and about 55kg and he is about my height 6"2 but he looks thinner than me maybe 75-80kg

It's fantastic that information provided by investigators is being shared with the countries where the victims lived.

I believe this is in reference to the missing teens, both male, who were occupants of the burning vehicle.

And the same height. I thought the same.
