I sincerely hope these young men are found alive, for their own sakes, the sakes of the families of the victims, and their own families. So those who need to have answers will hopefully have them. And so there can be justice for these crimes.
If these guys are never found, which is a real possibility, particularly if they are deceased, beyond no clear justice for the victims, idiots everywhere will mythologize them. I just about died when the Australian New Zealand mosque shooter name checked Alexandre Bissonnette. And something that just occurred to me - I wonder if the “Subscribe to pewdiepie” on Bryer’s gaming(?) profile could have been a backdoor name check of Brenton Tarrant, fellow Nazi fan.

I wonder if they haven’t charged them more serious yet or for all murders to give them “hope” I mean 2nd degree manslaughter is bad but not that bad in Canada. A good lawyer things could go well for them.
Maybe charges are being held off to not spook them.

After reading the comments by grandma and dad of Bryar carefully, I suggest this timeline.

July 12 ... Kam/Bryar leaves for Alberta with the intention of going to Yukon afterwards.

July 13 night or 14 morning ... Bryar talks to grandma, probably from Alberta

July 15 night or 16 morning ... Bryar texts grandma about leaving Whitehorse.

The one thing I question is if they actually went to Whitehorse. Video surveillance is standard in most businesses where anything thieves would target is provided. They certainty would have purchased some food and gas somewhere. We have not had one confirmed sighting that they actually went to the Yukon. Also if they actually applied for any positions, there has been no official confirmation of this.

Back to BS’s dad’s book. I’m not at all saying this is his motivation, but I have a feeling it is going to set up mitigating factors for BS if he is caught alive. We just watched BC avoid the death penalty for Yingying’s death, in part because alcoholism ran in his family and he was abusing alcohol at the time. Here, we have the perfect setup for showing mental illness runs in this kid’s family, with the dad discussing his own mental illness. It’s also likely to show how screwed up his childhood may have been.
I also should add that to me, the father's primary motivation in the book seems to be to disparage his ex-wife. He's repeatedly blamed his ex for the current situation in the press already. The Mail said that BS wasn't mentioned in the book at all. Ironically, the father's behaviour seems to show that he could have been a pretty bad influence on the kid.

Advanced thermal imaging can find rotting corpses, and compost heaps, because they are warmer than their surroundings.

Maybe muskeg is a bit warmer than surrounding soil and water.
Thank you. Given all the talk about insect season up there, perhaps there is a chance, then, that their bodies could be found in the woods for a limited time, then.

The Coast Guard and Navy are in the Arctic, the latter in part for an annual training/sovereignty operation called Operation Nanook. There is a new Navy base scheduled to open this summer on Baffin Island.

The Coast Guard has the larger presence, runs the icebreakers and is also involved in scientific research. Here is the Coast Guard’s 2019 summer schedule: Canadian Coast Guard 2019 Arctic Season Underway

Police must really think they are still in the area because these two are not known well enough here in Ontario. Seems police are keeping it in the area and not airing enough warning that they can be anywhere and to be on the lookout. The police mentioned it in a PC but like I said it isn’t being aired as enough warning almost like they just want the two teens to relax that the police are at a loss when the truth maybe they are not. They may just be wanting the teens to feel less pressure and to make a new move? IMO

Addiction is only a mitigating factor in Canada if the convict showed otherwise good character, and there is no word that these kids had addiction problems.

Mental health cuts both ways. It can be a mitigating factor in cases where there is an untreated schizoaffective disorder like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder with psychotic features, where the person doesn't understand what they are doing or that it is morally wrong, because they are so sick. It can be an aggravating factor if the person needs to be kept away from society for the protection of others.
is there a link to this book?

And considering that there is around 250 miles ( I live in klms, so I am calculating stuff here ) of fuel on the average Helicopter, there would have to be a fuel dump every 250 miles, at any point, and at every point, of the compass, because the heli has to get back.

you don't have to calculate - we live in km's too

I wonder if BS knew about the book or not? The father stated he wanted to buy a house for he and BS to live in with the proceeds so maybe he shared that with him. I find the timing of the book publication and the supposed trip to Whitehorse suspect. Maybe BS wanted to get out of town to avoid questions /dramatic family scenes when the book came out?

It's a self-published book by some no-one about his personal life. I doubt anyone would have any interest in it if these murders hadn't have happened. I really don't think he would have made a penny.

My sense is that they’re responding as if they’re still in the area because there’s no current evidence supporting them leaving. Kind of the only thing they can do, however potentially futile.

I agree with the money part, but his mother and other family members would surely get wind of it eventually.

Yes, and writing things like "substance abuse became her only love" could open him up to further criminal charges of harassment, or a civil suit.
