In the comments on youtube, there is talk of another video with a dead woman on a sofa and killing a homeless man. Nothing concrete at all about this yet unless someone wants to find it (I don't). You are right, I just assumed (like I shouldn't have lol) that it was his. I thought I read earlier or saw it in one of the media videos that the neighbor said he had been acting strange as of recent - wearing wigs and such. That's why I figured it was his apartment.

By all accounts, it was Magnotta's apartment, not the victim's:

There are other articles regarding the kittens being decapitated, and also precisely sliced in half. The SPCA has not been able to forensically determine the weapon or a suspect.

The incidents have happened since last June, in different cities in BC.

VANCOUVER - One or more serial cat killers are suspected to be on the prowl in Maple Ridge, B.C., where humane society officials say seven felines have been found killed and severed before being displayed in public areas in the past week.

The gruesome discoveries were usually placed on the lawns of the cat owners’ homes or in public parks.

The killings are the fourth similar wave in the Maple Ridge community since last June. In total, 22 bodies — cats of all kinds — have been found discarded in similar fashion.

There are consistent marks of a handsaw or large knife used to sever the cats “exactly in half,” Chortyk said. The exact causes of death are not yet known; however, there were no signs the animals put up a struggle, nor could the SPCA recover any human DNA from under the cats’ claws.

Here's an interesting article detailing his internet activity and more. It also says he was fixated on the Russian mafia and posted Russian killings on his various facebook pages. Yes, I started a WS thread on the Vancouver cat mutilations yesterday. I suggested that this was the work of a (potential) serial killer. I also saw that LadyL had mentioned a possible link to this case earlier on this thread.

The Vancouver cat killings have apparently occurred in "batches" and I began to wonder if it was a student who was away at school a lot of the time and then committed these atrocities when he/she was home. I'm not sure the timing fits the school year though. There's the recent batch of seven and prior to that there was a batch in early March. The killings started in June of last year.

I think it's a long shot that it is LRM, but who knows. He would have to have made a number of trips to Vancouver, and would likely have to have a close contact living in the Maple Ridge area, as that is where the killings have generally occurred. It would be nice to think that there's only one of these extreme whackos out there though!!

I wouldn't necessarily assume all "someones" with a sugar daddy live in nice digs. I say this because I once worked closely with a gay man who eventually became a friend of mine. He told me once about an older man he considered his sugar daddy. The man gave him money all the time, but my friend lived very simply in a small cottage he rented. I was surprised by how he lived because we both made a decent living in the design business, plus he was receiving extra money from his "man friend".

I will say that when I looked at that video and saw RCM's apartment, I thought it was a complete dump. Seems like he could have afforded to live in a nicer place, but who knows who knows what kind of money he made or what kinds of bills he had, or if he even cared about his surroundings or living conditions. He's not normal. He is a twisted and sick individual, a killer. I hope they catch this guy before he strikes again.

Concerning his place being a "dump", if he was in the midst of a serious bipolar episode, his environment could reflect the chaos going on in his mind. His place could have been spotless the week before, but destroyed during an episode, especially if the episode was severe and involved psychosis. Just something to consider.

I fear that LRM has sent these part to celebrities, and, possibly ones he dated, if this true, for the media attention.

Regardless of the end destination, whomever receives them, will be horrified.

true but I was referring more to the cheap furnishings in a low-income building, rather than the cleanliness - since any chaos could also have happened during the murder and afterwards when police tromped through

Luka's personality seems to be that of someone who would have nice possessions (even if stolen)

I hope he didn't send anything to his family. As horrifying as it would be to receive something like that, I think it would be more traumatic for his mom or sibling to get a parcel.

Something went terribly wrong in that family - by both his and their acc't, they have had nothing to do with him for a very long time. His online ramblings indicate he felt persecuted and held grudges.

CTV News reported that a note was enclosed with the severed foot indicating a total of six body parts had been distributed, and that the sender planned to kill again

On Wednesday, police began circulating a photo of a man linked to the crime whom they described as “missing.” He was an Asian man who appeared to be in his 30s, Mr. Schorer said.

The suitcase containing the victim’s remains was left at the end of a driveway behind the apartment building, along with the tenants’ regular garbage. Mike Nadeau, the building janitor, says he first noticed the suitcase last Friday, and thinks it had been there several days. One tenant said the suitcase looked brand new.

Normally, Montreal garbage crews would have taken the bag away during regular garbage collection on Fridays. However, perhaps because there was an unusual amount of old furniture and other detritus left out that day, the luggage was left behind.

Mr. Nadeau approached the locked suitcase, which smelled and was swarming with flies. When he broke it open, he found a torso and shoulders without a head. The body appeared to have been dismembered.

Mr. Schorer said police seized footage from security cameras around the building.
