Still reading...wondering how they made the connection...and if the body parts in Ottawa and the torso found in Montreal has been identified...

I was just going to say 'sources... bull!'

I don't take anything too seriously when 'sources' will not/can not be named.

Name your sources or it didn't happen. If somebody doesn't want to be named, then is it really true? Why go to the media and refuse to be named? If one doesn't want to be named but wants to get information out, one would logically go to the police with their information.

The whole 'sources' thing really ticks me off.

Based on the apartment, career path and his own delusions of grandeur; I doubt that he has the assets to make an elaborate international escape (unless he stole funds from the victim or escaped to the States)

IIRC, there was a report that the victim was reported "missing". I can't find anything of a missing person report for Montreal in the last few days.

If true, did the sadistic killer report him missing? If not, who did? Did anyone find a report online anywhere? TIA

Montreal is a city. Crimes of this magnitude should be handled in conjuction with provincial and federal law enforcement entities.

Considering the body parts were mailed to government officials in Ottawa, one would assume they would take over the investigation or at least let the RCMP which is the equivalent to your FBI assist in the investigation.

I don't know what the crime rate statistics are citywide or provincially so I can't really compare.

I agree, I haven't read yet that the RCMP is involved but I think they should be
What do we have thus far?
Torso in Montreal, an apartment is the center of the investigation
A Foot was sent to PC Headquarters in Ottawa
Hand, addressed to the Liberal Party of Canada was found at Canada Post mail sorting facility in Ottawa
the PC and Liberal HQ's are in downtown Ottawa not far from Parliament Hill.

I just heard on the News that a note left says 6 more body parts were mailed and that he would kill again
Police and Canada Post are investigating mailed packages..

Update
Montreal police Commander Ian Lafreniere said there appears to be no political motivation for the mailings. He said both Ottawa police and the RCMP are assisting with the investigation.

"The two parts of a body that were found in Ottawa, we've got all the reasons to believe it's linked to our homicide," he said. "That's the reason why the Ottawa police and the RCMP are working with us."

After spending several hours yesterday sleuthing this and sharing what I uncovered and learning from others here, I was certain that when I woke up this morning I would read that Luka's body would have been found, Luka would have been caught or Luka would have suicide by cop (I truly hoped this & the horrific video I viewed was something I dreamed in a nightmare); sadly I was wrong and the 21st century's Jeffrey Dahmer is still at large and will likely kill again.

Big question/debate this morning in Ottawa is "How did body parts get through our national mail system? Inspectors and security? No word from Canada Post."

Just as an FYI.....this is not the district where Homolka resided when she was released from prison.

She lived 15 kms from there. In the St-Michel district. This crime was committed in the Snowdon district.

Hmm, not sure if it has already been posted, but Vladimir Romanov (listed as living in France) on FB has only 2 friends- one has the surname Magnotta, and the other is KH's sister LV. Interesting...

Oh, I agree. But, unfortunately, anything is possible.

He seems desperate for attention. Probably doesn't normally get much. I doubt he has an accomplice, but you never really know what sick, twisted individual he may have met...

Finally read all of the pages here from last night. I'm convinced of a few things now:

- he's still right here in Canada

- KH is (and has been) helping him in all of this

- I highly doubt he's still using the internet - too easy for LE to track him down

That said, I did not watch any of the videos. It's just too horrific to give him my time and energy.

I have not found anywhere that the victim has been identified and I have been searching as well. Police do not know who he is and he is estimated to be the mid 30's age range.
