additional info we haven't heard :

According to B.C. court documents, Vader faced several charges in January 2009 in the northeastern city of Fort Nelson, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, resisting or obstructing a peace officer and mischief of $5,000 or under.

Vader's sister, Alicia, said that her family has not heard from Vader and does not expect to.

Sgt. Tim Taniguchi of Edmonton RCMP said the SUV was found in Alberta, somewhere west of Edmonton.

"The area around the vehicle is considered a crime scene — how big that area is, we can't say right now," he said. "It's too early to say what condition the vehicle is in or if the McCanns are somewhere nearby."
On a Facebook page under Vader's name, he is pictured with a young girl in his profile photograph and is described as a self-employed drilling consultant.

A brief biography box under the photo reads: "Life is great there is so much to learn and experiance (sic) the next 30 years are going to be awsome (sic)."

Hourihan said police are asking for help in finding Vader, whose Facebook profile lists his hometown as Summerland, B.C.

"We don't know where Mr. Vader is right now, and we need the public's help in trying to locate him," Hourihan said.

"We need the public also to know that Mr. Vader should be considered dangerous and that any sightings of him should be reported to police immediately and he should not be approached."

Roy Getson said he and Vader grew up in the same town — a small hamlet in west-Central Alberta called Niton Junction.

Getson said Vader was a nice guy who like to go hunting. But he also had a reputation in town for being a "fighter."

"That was well known about him," Getson said. "If he got to a bar, he'd get into a fight."

In the 1990s, Vader worked for Getson's father at a sawmill, piling lumber and doing logging, he said.

Getson said he hasn't kept in touch with Vader since the man moved to B.C. a few years ago. He said he instantly recognized Vader in the photo released by police. "It's kind of a shock," he said.

I don't know why while searching, the following sentence comes up, though when I click on the link, that sentence does not appear. It is odd because yesterday I read a post from someone saying there was an incident at this same place (Hinton) years ago, and I have also read that Vader used to frequent that location. Not sure if that sentence refers to the SUV, will just post it here, perhaps someone else could help in figuring this out:

now parked in a Hinton storage yard, looking for clues

ETA:
ok, that sentence refers to the RV, not the SUV and the Hinton incident is regarding Stephanie Stewart (70) disappearance:

I saw that sentence earlier in reference to where they had moved the burned-out RV to.

Article with an aerial photo of the SUV where it was found, 30 km east of Edson near a creek:

http://calgary.ctv.ca/servlet/an/lo...ssing_mccann_100716/20100716/?hub=CalgaryHome

Talk about a remote location; there's no road in sight, just woods. You can only see the back end of the SUV from the air; obviously someone didn't want it to be seen.

My prayers are with the McCann family. :(

Thank you Tatertot. That location (Carrot Creek) is not that far away from their home, so whatever happened, seems it happened really early on in their trip :(
Ruby, could you please add that location to the map? pretty please

The missing SUV was found 30 kilometers east of Edson near Carrot Creek.

Carrot Creek looks like it is only around 10 km from the HWY 16 turnoff to Minnow Lake.

I'm thinking the SUV was never in Prince George.

We posted at the exact same time Ruby! :seeya:

While you update your map, here is a map of that area only, so we can see the proximity to Lake Minnow and the McCanns home :(

MAP showing Carrot Creek = http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=St+Albert,+AB&daddr=Carrot+Creek,+Alberta+to:Minnow+Lake,+Alberta+to:Edson,+Alberta&hl=en&geocode=FUZVMgMdFzU6-SlT4V4A4CWgUzGTM8ssetD7qw%3B%3B%3B&mra=ls&sll=52.86594,-116.525965&sspn=3.024344,7.053223&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=8

( A ) St Albert, AB ---> McCanns home
( B ) Carrot Creek ---> where SUV was found hidden
( C ) Minnow Lake ---> where RV was found burned
( D ) Edson, AB

ETA:

I have to agree with you Snoopster, it wouldn't make any sense to drive back from Prince George passing by Lake Minnow to leave the SUV there. Would this mean the perp has another vehicle or is he on foot?

and where are Lyle and Marie?

Something had to have happened within the first couple hours. What a nightmare for them.

ETA: I think the McCanns will be found within the area of your map.

Heck, Carrot Creek is only 5 km (or 3 miles, for our American friends, carbuff, ;)) from Niton Junction, where the POI grew up. He could have dumped the car and walked to town.

A manager at the Minnow Lake campground knocked on the door hoping to get whoever was with the RV to register, but there was no response.

This would say to me that it was NOT the McCanns who parked their RV on-site. Most seniors are very honest, law-abiding citizens who follow the rules and it just doesn't compute that such a couple would park their RV but not register/pay, such that campground staff would be knocking on their RV door asking for this.

I'm wondering if the perp(s) have taken them hostage and they're all in the McCann's vehicle; and they're using the McCann's to drive them somewhere?

Welcome.

The car was found earlier tonight at Carrot Creek. Sadly it is not looking good for them.

I've been reading the family's FB page and all of the news articles to date.

Here are my thoughts:

1. It was NOT the McCanns who parked the RV at the Minnow Lake Campground; it just does not make good sense that this older couple would pull into a site and fail to register/pay such that campground employees would be knocking on the RV door to ask for registration/payment. Most seniors totally play by the rules.

2. I wonder if perps encountered there somewhere; maybe got into their RV and tried to rob them but finding nothing of value to take but not wanting the McCanns to ID them, well maybe one perp took the huge RV to the Minnow Lk Campground and was inside of it (maybe they all were) because really, where else are you going to hide a huge RV?....and when the campground employees knocked in the door, they were hiding inside...and then got nervous that employees were 'coming around' so made a plan to ditch the RV but take the SUV, with the McCanns in tow.........and have the McCanns drive them somewhere and perhaps they're still driving? Just because it's alleged that only 2 people were seen in the SUV (if in fact that was the same RV), doesn't mean the perp or perps wasn't inside ducked down.........if someone was close enough to get the License Plate # of that SUV, perhaps the perp inside the vehicle was unnerved by someone paying such attention to the SUV that he ducked down. Maybe he has them at gunpoint and is demanding they drive him/them to some remote location?

Perhaps at some point the McCanns stopped somewhere....and the side door of their RV wasn't locked....and the perps got inside that way and tried to overtake them?

oh God no. Where did you read this? Where is Carrot Creek? What is the condition of the SUV? How did I miss this in the news articles? Did this just come out recently?

Was the SUV found in some remote area? Is there a news link?

This is so sad. I've been praying these dear old folks would be found safe and sound. My God, their poor family. This really hits close to home. I have parents in their mid/late 60s who travel in a similar sized RV towing a vehicle too, around Alberta. This could have happened to anyone, whatever that "is" turns out to be. What a sick world.

After a week of missteps and public criticism, RCMP finally have some significant breaks in the case of a missing Alberta couple: they've found their missing SUV 30 kilometres east of Edson near Carrot Creek.

Ruby, it doesn't make sense to me. If the RV was found near Edson, and the SUV was allegedly spotted in Prince George yet was LOCATED back near Edson....just doesn't make sense? Someone drove that SUV from the Edson area all the way to P.G. and then back to the Edson area/not too far from where the burned RV was found? Am I understanding this correctly? Makes me wonder if the SUV spotted in PG was not the McCann's. Why would the SUV return to the area from where it was taken? Why would the perps come all the way back?

  • #219
The pic up above of V, who police report has a history of drug abuse, among many other things, looks like someone with 'meth mouth' ...meaning, meth users often have burns to the lips from the hot pipe they smoke it with. Looks like a burn to the middle of his bottom lip.

I've heard the perp has connections to that area and is familiar with it.

Those witnesses from Prince G seemed very sure it was the car, had plate and all. Guess we will eventually find out.

Why would he go back to the area? Because he is a stupid criminal and a worthless 🤬🤬🤬.

He more than likely killed them, but justice will never be served because we do not have the death penalty.
