''A man who was walking his dog early Sunday north of Toronto was shot at 13 times in a "callous act of violence" after he gestured at a speeding vehicle, York Regional Police say.

The man, 65, is now in critical condition in hospital fighting for his life and the attack has stunned the small community where he lives.

Police are seeking two people in connection with the drive-by shooting, which happened in King Township near the Town of Schomberg, west of Newmarket. Officers were alerted at 8:40 a.m.

Insp. Jim Killby, spokesperson for York Regional Police, said officers are appalled at the shooting.

"We as a policing organization are stunned at this callous act of violence," Killby told reporters at a news conference on Tuesday.

"This was a cowardly act, a cowardly, violent act, against a victim who was doing nothing more than enjoying the morning and walking his dog in the area for exercise."

''Police said the man was walking his dog when a white SUV passed him at a high rate of speed, prompting him to gesture at the vehicle.

The vehicle drove back to the victim, and a passenger in the front seat armed with a gun fired multiple rounds at the man, striking him multiple times.
Police said 13 rounds were fired at the man in total before the vehicle fled the scene.

York Regional Police spokesperson Sgt. Clint Whitney told CTV News Toronto on Wednesday the attack appears to be “completely random,” and the suspects only took issue with the man because he gestured at him to slow down.

Whitney said as of Wednesday afternoon, the victim remains in critical condition.

''Police uploaded video on Tuesday of the suspect vehicle in an effort to locate at least two suspects who were believed to be in the vehicle at the time.

The SUV is described as white, possibly a four-door Lexus RX 350. Killby said the shooter is described as a "light brown-skinned, tanned male."
No description has been released for the other suspect''.

''Police are asking for anyone with information to contact investigators at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7141 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.1800222tips.com.''

Senseless, utterly senseless. No one deserves this - no one for any reason.

And yeah, I'm going to be that person to ask if anyone knows how the dog is doing.

''New details have emerged on the motive behind a shooting on a quiet residential street in Schomberg, Ont. that left an dog walker with serious injuries.

Police also released sketches on Tuesday of two suspects in the Feb. 12 shooting that left an innocent 65-year-old retiree fighting for his life in hospital.

Detectives originally said they believed the man was ambushed by gunfire because he gestured at a speeding vehicle to slow down.''

"However, the investigation has since revealed that this was actually a targeted shooting but the victim was not the intended target," York police said in a news release Tuesday.

Police did not say who the intended target of the shooting was. According to police, the victim is going through a "lengthy recovery process, but will survive."

''Police said the vehicle involved in the shooting is a white 2021 Lexus RX-350 with Ontario licence plate CXAK183, which was stolen from Toronto.''

''According to investigators, three men believed to be members of the Mara Salvatrucha street gang, or MS-13, “were hired by an organized crime group to kill a man.”

“The suspects targeted the wrong person and shot the victim instead,” police said.

In an investigation dubbed Project Rebellion, police executed search warrants at multiple locations in Toronto between May 18 and June 1.

Police charged eight people, including three suspects who face charges for conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder in relation to the drive-by shooting.

The eight suspects face multiple other charges related to weapons, drugs, theft and other crimes.

The suspects range in age from 20 to 42 years old. None of the charges have been proven in court.''

I’m happy the victim will recover. What an ordeal.

I was just googling this gang, and they're terrifying, they've been called one of the western world's most brutal street gangs. They've brought Honduras and El Salvador to their knees with extortion rackets.

I hope they're not successful in setting up shop in Canada...

''The federal government has warned Canadian police services “violent” gangs known for cutting off the heads of victims are attempting to sneak across U.S.-Canada border points to avoid President Donald Trump’s changing immigration policy, The Toronto Sun has learned.''

The classified “Alert” from Criminal Intelligence Service Canada (CISC) warns “violence linked to the MS-13 is often described as brutal, from senseless beatings to dismemberment.”

'And it’s not just men. The Washington Post did a story this week describing MS-13 female members luring victims to into being slashed to death.''

'It tells cops and border security people “MS-13 members will likely exploit the migration of Salvadorians to Canada to set up new cells, most likely in the Greater Toronto Area, Montreal and Vancouver.”

The memo talks of potential dangers to residents since “MS-13 maintains a propensity for public and indiscriminate acts of violence, suggesting an enhanced public safety threat in the communities it inhabits.
