''Marie-Claude Chrétien has been missing since May 10. Police now believe the 38-year-old Outaouais resident may have been the victim of a murder.
Ms. Chrétien frequented the criminal milieu of drug trafficking and prostitution.
In the days following her disappearance, it was initially believed that she had voluntarily left her home in Cantley, as she had done before.
Police have long believed it plausible that Marie-Claude Chrétien was being held against her will and forced into prostitution, but it is now believed that this lead is increasingly unlikely.''

''MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais police said someone was likely supposed to pick her up and take her to an urban area because she didn't have a vehicle.
"It is this person of interest that investigators are still trying to identify," a news release issued by police said. "Obviously, the information that this individual has could greatly assist in the investigation and help establish Mrs. Chrétien's movements on the evening of May 10, 2008.
"Notwithstanding the material evidence collected over time, we strongly believe that the information from the public is just as important, if not crucial, in order to solve this matter."
Anyone with any information, "no matter how frivolous," is asked to call police anonymously at 1-800-711-1800, or directly by contacting Sgt.-Det. Gabriel Ladouceur at 819-459-2422, ext. 3263.''
