The most terrifying thing she describes in that post is attempting to go from the mountaintop they accidentally found themselves on over to their intended destination via the ridgeline. Going across a ridgeline, even for an experienced climber on an established route is dangerous but doing what she described is madness. From what I could glean, it seems like they hiked up the wooded back sides of these mountains for the photo ops against the sheer front sides but that post is some for real foreshadowing.Yes indeed. Her FB page has a post from 2 weeks ago where she sprained her ankle because the lost the trail on a summit attempt and continued on anyway forging their own trail only to reach the top of an unintended destination. She describes loose rock and steep ascents. Sounds scary, which she admits to, yet thrilling, which she also admits too.
Could pushing the limit successfully lead to the continuation of the same type of risk taking?
I too hope they became disoriented this time in a similar scenario and were unable to find their way back to their base camp in this instance. 3+ days and counting.
At least they died together doing what they loved to do.
