I see there is a lot of threads on her already. I am sorry if these questions have been asked already.

Was her high school Wi-Fi cross-referenced with all of the devices that connected to it? What about her home Wi-Fi? This could possibly lead to a MAC address for the alleged second phone she may have had.

Do we know what email addresses she used for creating social media accounts? I have a hankering suspicion she may have had a Kik account on the burner phone. If this is the case, could one her known emails be used to track down the username used to create it?

What do we know about her potential Kik account?

I am highly interested in this as an angle. This is a very well known grooming app that is really effective for anonimity.

Did she use the same email to make all the accounts that we know of? I.E. Snapchat, etc? Was there a burner email (or emails) she made accounts on?

Usually, when most people make accounts on different social media apps, they tend to use the same username or a very similar username.

Has anyone tried using her known names on other apps to search for her on speculated apps?

I know that Kik chats do have the ability to be recovered, as in the case with "Dr. Tombstone".

So do they still not know who all the people were whom she was communicating online with? Her actions the day she disappeared give all the telltale signs of her planning to meet up with someone.

I can imagine if it was her dad or some other relative who helped her get away they would've covered their tracks pretty well. To be fair, I think it also looks like she's using a burner phone.

It was said her grandfather had passed away and she lived in the home with grandparents. Could her grandfather been using opiates to treat pain? Could she have had access to these medications? Perhaps she was planning on selling his leftover medications that she was able to obtain at some point and it was a drug deal gone bad? Burner phones, money, apparent paranoia, and the need to get a bus could all point to a clandestine meeting involving drugs. A 16 year old with little street smarts could be vulnerable to foul play.

Thinking about her today, I hope for updates

When did her alias come out? Not sure I’ve ever heard the alias M Niebergall for her.

That's her birth name I believe. Her and her mother changed their names to Bali a few months before her disappearance.

Was that explained why…were they trying to hide from someone?

I believe Mekayla’s mother did this for a very good reason, but it’s never been disclosed what happened publicly and I don’t want to speculate on that because familial relationships and mental health struggles are complicated at the best of times. I would imagine the police know more than us for sure.
There was a strained familial relationship on the mother’s side, (not to do with Mekayla’s bio father), that they wanted to distance themselves from, as a fresh start.

Bump for Mekayla. Her case is so creepy and haunting. In my opinion the evidence points to her meeting a predator. I remember what it’s like to be that age, wanting attention from men while being unaware of your own vulnerability. I really hope that she will be found.

Bumping for Mekayla. Almost ten years. I don't think her erratic behavior that day was some kind of mental episode. To me, she was being instructed by someone she was talking to on the phone. This person probably arranged a meeting with her but obviously wouldn't go to a public place to appear on CCTV, be witnessed, etc. This would explain the behavior, as he was most likely repeatedly changing plans. Regarding the message she sent her friend, it's interesting to wonder what would have happened if the friend had responded. Whether she would have given an excuse, if her disappearance could have been avoided, or if it would have given more clues than we already have.

I did a wee experiment and someone on my snapchat hasn't responded in two months, but the snap hasn't opened on it's own yet *shrug*

there have probably been a lot of changes in the API and how things are seen/received since 2016. I don't believe any experiment done now can be applicable to 2016.

I agree to disagree.

Could be trafficking but for now, can we discuss, local offender with local concealment as a possibility?

We have:
*Clear pre-meeting behavior (waiting, phone checking, movement).
*No visible struggle reported.
*Likely voluntary vehicle entry.
*No confirmed long-distance financial trail.
*No confirmed trafficking tie-ins.
*No body found nearly 10 years later.
*No linked POI from outside region.

Why local offender?
  1. Knows camera clusters and where they stop.
  2. Knows rural concealment spots.
  3. Can stage pickup just outside surveillance zone.
  4. Can dispose within 15–45 minutes.
  5. Can blend back into normal life immediately.
  6. Lower risk of traffic stops.
  7. Fewer unknown variables.

    Personality Profile - or Why?
One emotionally unstable or predatory adult.
One vulnerable teen.
One isolated moment.
One irreversible escalation.

I am speculating. Criminology studies say single-offender rural homicides commonly involve disposal within 5–30 km of pickup or a 15-20 min drive max. This is a general rough range of possible locations a perp may have dumped the poor girl's body if he murdered her the same day he picked her up. IMO

Downtown concealment seems unlikely in a single-offender rapid-escalation scenario. Hiding someone downtown in broad daylight doesn’t fit a situation where one person acted quickly and alone. It’s too busy, too exposed, and something would have been found by now. The concealment location would almost certainly be somewhere familiar to the offender and away from heavy foot traffic.

In cases like this, it’s often not someone with a prior murder record. More commonly it’s someone who had already been pushing boundaries; maybe messaging underage girls, acting inappropriate online, flirting where they shouldn’t, or having a reputation locally for being “off” with younger females. Sometimes there are complaints or rumours, but nothing that ever led to charges.

I have a speculated theory:

New online boyfriend (i.e. groomer) may have said, "come to Regina for a couple days." (Either pretended he lived in Regina, or lived there for real.)

Perhaps the back and forth on the phone was about if she would take a bus or he would come and get her. She visited the bus station around 9:45–10:00 a.m. on this Tuesday while skipping school. In this way she would also look more like a runaway on camera which would alibi him a little.

Perhaps she was finding out information to report back to him before committing to him coming to get her. She was told the bus left 5 pm, and she decided that was too long a wait as her parents would find her missing before that since school likely ended 3ish. So they agreed he would come and pick her up. He would point out it would be around a 3-hrs trip which plants the meetup close to her 1:45- 2 pm time last seen on camera.

If he was local, he could pick her up take her to a remote area to do what he wanted, then be back home by supper time like any person who works during the day.

Behaviourally, a local adult posing as someone from Regina is cleaner and lower risk than an actual Regina man making a 5-hour round trip. But it could have also been someone from Regina. A pedo is a pedo.
