Melanie Lapish was last seen on February 26, 2024, in the town of Fort Frances, Ontario. Melanie has ties to the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario area.

The Ontario government is offering a reward of 50,000$ to anyone who provides information that would help in the conviction of those responsible for her disappearance. The Ontario provincial police has classified her case as "criminally suspicious." She had recently moved to Fort Frances from Sault Ste. Marie. She was last seen when she was dropped at the McDonald's on Kings Highway at 9pm on Feb 26, 2024 where she was waiting to be picked up by someone. At the time of her disappearance, she was raising her five year-old son. Family members describe Melanie as a "outgoing, happy-go-lucky person and a loving mother." https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/thunder-bay/melanie-lapish-missing-woman-fort-frances-1.7479433

This is so sad. Her 7-yr old looks at her photo nightly 😢 sudbury.com/around-the-north/son-of-northern-ont-woman-missing-since-2024-looks-at-her-photo-every-night-11966970

It bothers me we don't get a lot of information.
  • Why did she move?
  • Who was she meeting?
  • Was she leaving work heading home?
  • It was 9pm.
  • Where was her son when she was dropped off at McDonalds?
Her family reported that she was not officially reported missing until March 8, nearly two weeks later. Where was her 4-yr old all this time and didn't his caregiver wonder?

The investigation remains ongoing by the Rainy River District OPP under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Assistance is also being provided by the OPP North West Region Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services, OPP North West Region Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/thunder-bay/melanie-lapish-missing-woman-fort-frances-1.7479433#:~:text=The investigation remains ongoing by,-8477 or ontariocrimestoppers.ca.

The investigation is under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the North West Region Crime Unit. These units typically analyze "electronic footprints," including cell records and social media, to establish timelines and identify who a missing person may have been communicating with.

This is not able to be linked as it is 3rd party social media, but these details, imo, are important.

Melanie lived in Fort Frances with her son and a partner at the time of her disappearance.
  • The Partner's Role: According to family statements and local reports, the partner (often referred to as her husband) EL, was the one who initially told the story of her being dropped off at McDonald’s. He reportedly did not file the missing person report.

This was found online. Is ESL mentioned here ML's partner? I think so. *Under Canadian law, he is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.

This happened on the same highway ML went missing. "On August 31, 2024, at approximately 4:30 pm an officer with the Fort Frances Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of King’s Highway after he recognized the suspended driver."
